Disneyland Hotel Trip Report 1 June- 4 June 2008

We arrived by car on Saturday the 31 May near Paris where we had a hotel for one night. After spending the Saturday in Paris we were ready on Sunday morning to move to my favorite hotel in the world. The oh so magical Disneyland Hotel.
As my boyfriend would have his birthday on the 3 June I decided before we booked this trip to book the Disneyland Hotel instead of Hotel New York like he still thought.
The price difference from HNY to the DLH was his birthday present from me to him.
And when he wanted to turn off from the street to the car park of the Hotel New York I yelled at him:
“No, you are on the wrong side you have to turn to the right”
“But this would be the way to the car park of the Disneyland Hotel!”
And I said:
“That’s right, because we are going to stay at the Disneyland Hotel!”

He first thought I would be joking but then I showed him the booking confirmation (which I had to hide for more than 3 month) and he believed me and his face brightened up even more.

After the CM at the barrier had check our reservation confirmation we were on the Disneyland route to the Disneyland Hotel.

Even this part of the hotel is great. And as in June the trees are green you almost can’t see the RER building and so you really fell like you are entering “A whole new world”.

As it was only 8:00 in the morning I was the only one at the reception. And after the entrance of the DLH this is the next great area that waits for you: The Reception. This is the most beautiful reception of all Disney Hotels. You feel right away very welcomed.
In no time we had our park passes and we were asked to come back later to get our room as the hotel was 100% booked on this Sunday.
At 8:30 we were in the park to make use of the EMH. The EMH in the morning are great but not as good as in the evening. The most attractions are in Fantasyland and as we are two adults we have not used them every day. It is great on one side to have an almost empty park because this is great for taking pictures. But I prefer to have some people before me in the waiting line of an attraction. I don’t like to rush through the waiting line. I think if you have waited for some time in the waiting line you are in the right mood for the attraction.
But as I expected many guests on this Sunday we did almost all EMH attractions and I also took some good pictures of an almost empty park.
If I would have known that on Sunday afternoon the weather would change to the bad side, I would have taken more sunny pictures.
The Sunday had also another surprise for us: It was not as crowded as I thought it would be. There were a lot of guests but the queues were manageable. This was the first weekend day in a long time were we did not have 60 minutes for POTC and for PM.

PM was only open on Sunday so we rode it 3 times at one day.

We were desperate to try the two new attractions Stitch live and Tower of Terror. Or better said I was desperate to try them. My boyfriend hates interaction with characters and he always says to me: “If you should surprise me with characters singing for my Happy Birthday or anything similar I will stand up and drive home without you!”
(Is that a threat to leave me alone at the resort for ever) ;-)

I persuaded him that nothing like this would happen at Stitch live. And so we choose an English version and what do you think who got picked by Stitch? Yes my boyfriend. Stitch asked him: “You look familiar? Are you an intergalactic prisoner?”
And when Stitch took a picture of him and showed it on the big screen for everybody to see I couldn’t stop laughing.
Oh what was he mad and angry. And I had so much fun.

Right after Stitch I wanted to try ToT although I was not very keen to ride it. And my BF also didn’t want to go on this “big monster”.
But I convinced him and after 30 minutes waiting outside we were into the hotel and in the steam room.

That is true!

As usual Disney is making a big show out of everything and we were really scarred and thought about leaving via the chicken exit after spending so much time in the horrible steam room. But then after endless minutes of wait we were in the elevator and I really thought: “Why have I been so crazy and went on this ride?”
And when the elevator started I hold on tight to the holder and I had such a dry mouth that I could not speak or even scream.
But then after 3 minutes everything was over, and although my legs were still shaking I thought that this is one of my new favorites. And indeed ToT is just great; started with a fantastic atmosphere and followed by a really funny ride.

This was the first part. I will post the second part soon with more pictures of the DLH.

Great first day, with fab photos. Lovely surprise for you BF & an even bigger surprise from Stitch:lmao:

€Boo-Boo: If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I have stayed 4 times now in the most beautiful hotel of the world.

Look forward to hearing more- I asked my mum to get me a cake for my bday at CM didnt really think much of it, but then when we were seated and i saw what they did with the b-day cake- i suddenly didnt want one anymore:headache: lool it was soo embrassing but very fun lol our cam ran out of battery so we only have my bros phone pics of my very red face :rotfl:

A great start to your trip, your BF must have been so pleased about the upgrade. Looking forward to hearing more about it.:cool1:

the lobby of the Disneyland Hotel is stunning. Unfortunately, that's probably about as much of the hotel as I will ever see, but good for you two!

The Phantom Manor shot is also striking with those gorgeous trees in front. Also, it's reassuring to see signage in English, my friend is so paranoid that the language barrier will stop her from enjoying this trip.

I used to be scared of the Tower too, now it's one of the first things I enjoy doing! The themeing of that ride is particularly well done too.

Great start to the trip!

Wow loving your photos and report so far, i cracked up laughing about what happened to your BF on Stitch! Live, im desperate to speak to the main guy himself :)

Wonderful start - look forward to more!

Your poor BF... I feel for him though. On our way to DLRP last July, my DH went to wander around the train... He came back and all of a sudden I heard: 'Happy Birthday to Ema from...' I was  !!! Have warned him I'd leave him if he ever did something similar or even worse to me :rotfl2:

Love your photos! Pleeeease post that report soon! :rotfl:

Aww what a lovely surprise for him! He must've been over the moon!! Am loving your report so far (very funny @ Stitch!) and can't wait for your next instalment! :)

Great start :thumbsup2 i hope you get a picture of your boyfriend's face when he saw himself on the big screen, it will be priceless in some years :lmao:

Marcus, I enjoyed your first installment & photos & look forward to the next installments. Lucky BF getting treated to the Disneyland Hotel!

Unfortunately we don’t have a picture of him. As this was the first time that we saw the show we were not aware what would happen and that they would take a picture and show it on the big screen. But you are right in some years this would have been very funny to look at.

And I said after the show: “If they would offer to by the show on tape I would have paid up to 30€ to own it!”

What a lovely surprise for your BF :goodvibes and an even bigger one at the Stitch show!! :rotfl:

A great start with fab photos, off to read part 2. :)

Wow what an amazing first day!! Sounds so magical. The suprise with the hotel was so lovely and sweet! Loved the part with Stitch, thats classic. Lovely photos too, especially the hotel. It looks beautiful.
