Which view do you want at the Disneyland Hotel?

Lower level resort view
Lower level pool view
Upper level resort view
Upper level pool view

Can you see the fireworks from any of the upper levels?

Hello, I was there this past Christmas Time, and ended up I couldn't get my request for the Dreams Tower, and I got stuck in the Magic Tower. I got a view (I always get a view habit), well I did not like my room it really was not in near as good of shape as the other two towers Dreams my fav :). I asked for another room, and stated things that were not correct a light flickered, and such. They said they gave me a better room (remember i paid for a view) come to find out I get to the room, and I see a parking lot, BUT I was in my room JUST in time for the Christmas Fireworks and could see them clear as day from my room. I called down because of the parking lot, and stated I paid for view. The CM was nice, and said they gave me a room with a great view Matterhorn top, a little of the park, and full fireworks, and here is the kicker it was a STANDARD room!!! They credited me back the difference, and gave me a decent sized room with full fireworks view. I turned on the Fireworks Channel, and sat in the chair at the table/desk, and just watched the fireworks with the music. It was cold so I did this on many nights, but I also stayed to watch it snow, and it all light up. I would see if you can get one of those rooms, but a view is also nice if you wanna overlook the pool, or downtown disney. have a great trip send some tiger tails!!!:yay:

Which Tower did you end up in?

It sounds like they were in the Magic tower where the main lobby and shops are..
We have stayed in both the Dreams and Wonder towers with upper level resort view rooms and we were able to watch the fireworks from both rooms.
Although I really enjoyed our stay in the Dreams tower, I prefer the wonder tower because I like to listen and see the waterfalls from the "balcony" :goodvibes
I know that the Wonder tower is the farthest away, but when we stayed in the Dreams tower in January, they had the main entrances blocked off for the renovation and you could only enter the building from the far side entrance (which is pretty darn close to the entrance for the Wonder tower). When we stay at the DLH, my only request is to have a room where I can see the fireworks :upsidedow

When I go online, the only options "view options" are pool or resort. Any thoughts on which is which?

A while ago when I made a reservation, I had asked a CM what the differences in the views are and they explained it to me like this:

A pool view is generally an inside room that faces the pool.
A resort view room is one that overlooks DTD (Dreams Tower)
A standard view room is one that overlooks the parking lot.

A lower level room is located on floors 3-6
Upper level room is floors 7 and higher.

Online reservations are kinda tricky.. I tend to look online to get a feel for the rates and then call the hotel reservation number to actually book our rooms. That way the CM can answer any of my questions..

The Wonder tower (My favorite) is a little different because you can see the pool as well as parts of the resort (Depending on how far you are to the DTD side of the building) and you can view the fireworks from your room.

When booking the reservation, I ask the CM to make a note of this request. It is never guaranteed, but I haven't had any problems getting a room in that tower. On our last stay we were upgraded to a newly renovated room in the dreams tower! I was a little dissapointed, but I didn't say anything to the CM. They were being soo sweet and I didn't want to say no and hurt their feelings.

All three tower's rooms facing the inner courtyard are Pool View.
The north face of Magic and east face of Dream are Resort view. You can see the fireworks a bit from the resort veiw rooms. Though nothing even close to seeing them from in the park.

Keep in mind that the only rooms available in the Dream tower are brand new. While the Magic and Wonder towers are yet to be remodeled.

I like pool or resort view. Each has its merits and I don't really care which I get. I generally request resort view because I prefer the Dreams tower. This has nothing to do with the rooms being renovated but is simply because I prefer the location (you can practically step out of the tower into DTD). I think pool view is prettier but resort view is fun, esp. if there is holiday decorations and music etc.

I like the Magic tower because it is very convenient. It's the main tower where the lobby is housed, is closest to dining and is still located near the pool & DTD. If you happen to get a parking lot view in Magic, it's at least a nicer parking lot with views towards DL and fireworks than the standard view in Wonder, which is practically on top of the employee parking lot. It's just an elevator ride away from shops, coffee, and food.

I am not one to love the upper levels of hotel towers, so that's not a big draw for me.

I've stayed in both renovated and non-reno'd rooms and I like both. I wouldn't be disappointed with a non-reno'd room, as I like the whimsical, fairy-tale decor. The new rooms are sleek and modern. I like them, too, but I know I'll miss the storybook look and the sliding doors in the old rooms.

I *personally* don't care for the Wonder tower. It's far away from the lobby and amenities of the hotel and the farthest walk to DTD/the parks. To me it feels like an in-law unit or something. Now I have to add that I've not had good luck staying in that tower. One time our room was right over some parking lot place where trucks made a ton of noise; once our sink backed up in the middle of the night and left us with a very nasty smell; and all 3 times I've stayed in that tower I've had to wait forever for the elevator. On the plus side, the waterfalls and koi ponds are right there and are very nice, and I have heard that there are nice large rooms in that tower, though we have not had one.

As far as the fireworks, I watched them once from our balcony in the Dreams tower (with the sliders open, pre-reno) and it was nice, but overall I don't find the fireworks view from the hotel to be any big deal. It certainly doesn't figure into my decision on room choice. Just wanted to let you know that it doesn't come close to what you'd see if you were in the parks, but it's nice if (like me) you have children that don't do fireworks and it's the only way you can view them.

We have only stayed at Paradise Pier (and off-site), so I'm unfamiliar with the layout the Disneyland hotel. Do you have a map of the resort? Link?

I saw this before as a make shift map.

We are currently in Magic tower on 10 th floor of 11 (standard view==overlookingh front drive and parking lot, with DL to the right).
However, we were able to watch fireworks from the room on sat night. I and the kids thought it was a great view. You certainly do not get the full effect of being in frontof teh castle, but you do certainlhy get the benefit of being in your jammies getting and OK view of the fireworks, including tinkerbell or who ever flys over/around the castle, b but you do get the music playing on your TV. And all of this with out having tp fight crowds or secure a spot.
so bottom line i f you are a firework fenatic, dont book your room based on fireworks. if you are o k with an ok view, book your room and request a fireworks view

Are the renovated rooms by any chance larger than the non-reno rooms? We usually get two rooms (for the four of us....yes, we're big:rotfl:) but because of the rates for just one night in August, we are going to squeeze into one room. We need two beds and a day bed and extra space. Any thoughts?

I may be wrong, but I don't think it would be structurally possible to increase the size of the existing rooms. Pretty sure the renovation is just cosmetic.
