Disneyland Hotel Pool

We were there last week (a week ago today, actually!)--and they were NOT open. Here was the view of the pool area from our room in the Wonder Tower:

As a Disneyland Resort Hotel guest, you are allowed to use the pools at the other hotels (Grand Californian and Paradise Pier), but you have to walk quite a ways to do this. I personally would not want to walk back to my room in the Disneyland Hotel in a wet bathing suit (with cover-up of course) all the way from the Grand Californian.

If you are looking for a good pool experience I would avoid the Disneyland Hotel until the pool area construction (including new restaurants that are being built there--there is a lot going on right now) is complete.

There is another user who said the pool was open that day. IME, the Neverland pool is open and is supposed to remain open until the fall when the new area is complete. Then the other pool will be open while the Neverland pool gets refurbed.

I'm going up May 9th and I'm going up Sunday with 3 grandkids. We won't be going to DL until Monday so we want to play in the pool on Sunday. Does anyone have reliable info on if the regular part of the pool is open. I may have to stay at GCH if not.

it looks like they are shifting the entire area of where the pools are, I'm really confused by that picture, are all the waterfall areas gone?

Long Gone.

What you don't see in that picture is that the old Peter Pan or Neverland Pool is still there, just behind the trees.

The Water Slide is where the extra, calm pool was.

Also keep in mind Lisa's photo is no longer current as a lot of that area is different now. Try searching for photos on the internet, progress is rather impressive.

Well, I took this picture 7 days ago, so it is that current at least! I took it 7 days ago, on April 6th from our view from the Wonder Tower. The pool was indeed closed when we were there, but I have no idea if that was a temporary situation or not. I don't want to give anyone misinformation.

I am a total lover of the Disneyland Hotel, so I am not trying to put them down. It just isn't (in my opinion) a "resort" experience with the current construction going on. If others think it is and want to stay there, then more power to them.

My intent is to help other families make a decision on where to stay at the DL resort. I know how much money it can cost to stay on property, so that is why I chime in with my take on it as a frequent guest there.

I am the first one to admit I am not always correct! But for us the pool was not open, and I am not sure why it was open for the guest Dahla was referring to.

I have to say I wholeheartedly agree. I can't help but feel like Disney isn't being entirely forthright about the extent of the construction currently. With such major inconveniences caused by this huge project, the least I would expect would be some type of reduced rate or promotion at DLH specifically to make up for it. Those of us here are educated because of DISboards, but I can't imagine how many people are planning their trips right now and pick the Disneyland Hotel because they want the best of the best and are going to be greatly disappointed when they are awakened by that first jackhammer :)

I also agree, a discount is in order because I know that if I wasn't as informed as I am (thanks disboards!) I would not be a happy camper if I booked a stay at the DH and got there and discovered all the construction and noise associated with that! I don't understand why Disney takes a chance of people being very annoyed or irritated, but I guess they are willing to take that chance...

ITA. I wrote them about how I felt that my room (we paid for the top tier) was a rip off because with a premium view we had a view of construction. They sent me a polite "we're sorry your visit wasn't what you expected, we'll notify the appropriate people" letter and that was it. I would stay there again, but I wouldn't upgrade my view until the construction is done.

And I thank you! Our summer trip is probably a once in a lifetime thing ... and I was really hoping to stay at the DLH. I booked GCH b/c I knew about the construction, but have been thinking about switching to one of the refurbished DLH rooms b/c they look so cool. However, now that I see the pool mess and have zero hope that it will be complete for our stay, I've decided to stick with GCH. I don't like construction and would not be happy with the mess and the noise. When I'm at the pool, I like to hear water splashing and children playing ... not the beepbeepbeepbeepbeep of construction equipment!

I hope the pool and construction are more presentable and pleasant by time we get there in June ....this will be our first time staying at the DLH ...ugh missed out on seeing or experiencing the calm cool beach like area sad :-(
anyone know of any sites that have current pics of the construction ? tried looking up on you tube , but no luck.

:tink:

FYI, I heard the construction noise in the VGC (Villas area of Grand Californian hotel) at 6:30 a.m. when I was there last week - it was the Paradise Pier area.
