We're touching down in LAX at about 7:30pm so we will probably have to wait for the next Disneyland Express at 8:30; getting in at about 9:30. We're staying at the Disneyland Hotel.

I've read a couple of comments on trip advisor regarding problems with late check-ins and rooms being re-allocated as they thought the guest was a no show. Do I need to contact Disney to let them know we're going to arrive about 9:30-10pm beforehand or should it be ok?

I always call any hotel that I am staying in to let them know I will be checking in late, just a good thing for them to have noted on your reservation just in case.

Yes, contact the DLH and advise them you will be arriving late. DSNY4ever has the right idea. Anytime you are traveling and arriving late at a hotel, give the hotel notice of the late arrival. Doing so can save a lot of trouble....:cool1:

You can call and tell them you will be checking in late, but it will not do any good. I did the same thing, and arrived at 6:00 p.m. Even though I had called, they had given away all rooms in my category and all reasonable substitutes. We had to take one of the tiny rooms for one night, then have our luggage packed and with bell services for a room switch the next day. Since we were leaving the hotel at 6:30 for early entry, it was more than a little inconvenient, but it's over now.

If you get stuck like that, keep complaining until they give you a room credit.

Thanks everyone.

Do I need to call a specific number to speak with the hotel directly or are you meant to just call the general reservations number?

At the gch, you can checkin via phone 2 hours before. I am not sure if dlh offers this, but it is worth an ask?

Oh this is not good. I have two rooms reserved at Paradise Pier. When I made the reservations, I told them we have a late flight (landing at LAX at 9:45 p.m.so I don't anticipate arriving at the hotel before 11 p.m.) and asked that our reservations be notated that we're arriving late. When I got my paperwork, there wasn't any notation on there. Since we have the "premier" view rooms, I don't want to have to worry about them giving up our rooms. Guess I better call and remind them of our late arrival. Thanks for the heads up!:)

We have arrived late in the evening several times while staying at the DLH. We have not had any problems doing so. While making reservations, we advise we will be arriving late in the evening. Wait several hours and call back to confirm EVERYTHING. The next day call again to confirm EVERYTHING. The wife and I travel a lot coast to coast, we have learned to triple check everything. It does not matter if you do everything yourself or use a travel service, always triple check everything. It is amazing how often things will get missed or reserved incorrectly. If it can go wrong, it probally will. Always check your back, repeatedly, as the old saying goes....:cool1:
