Ticket prices and dates have already been released for the 2018 MNSSHP at WDW. Very early release of information this year!

What are the chances that tickets/dates for the Halloween Party at Disneyland will follow suit and also be released soon?

Zip!

Disneyland isn't as considerate when it comes to announcing thing with a large amount of lead time.

We won't know dates until summer and the tickets don't go on sale until July. DL doesn't plan in as far advance as WDW does unfortunately.

I was really hoping they'd change it up and release info earlier this year. We are planning a trip to Disneyland in October and I'm trying to coordinate work schedules and school schedules with family members in three different states. It would be a lot easier if I could pin down specific dates!

Rumor has MHP moving to DCA this year, so we don't even know for certain which park the party will be in. There have been 17 party dates for the last two years. So there is a good chance that will be the approximate number this year, starting sometime around the end of Sept. and ending on Oct. 31st. Keep watching the Parks Blog for the announcement -- sometime in mid July, usually.

I can understand this. What I do is plan on a day of the week that the party usually falls on. The last three years I have gone to the Halloween party that was the third Friday in the month of October and this year I plan to go on Halloween. I know they could change the party dates but chances are they won't for my configuration. Its been consistent that they always have parties on Friday nights and on Halloween. I also usually come 3-4 days during this time of year so, if the party dates are not on a Friday but one of the other days then I'm covered. I don't count weekends into this plan as the Saturday parties are scarce. Then ill book my hotel and flight. After the party dates are released and I've purchased my party ticket I will make and TS reservations or WOC dessert party reservations etc. DL doesn't book up like WDW so there is some wiggle room here. And those don't open up until 60 days anyhow.

Edited to add: so if I were you I would make somewhat of a similar plan by looking at the prior Halloween party dates in the prior years. Fridays in October are a pretty safe bet as far as I'm concerned. The weekday party's I've noticed sometime change. I hope this helps.

There were 17 parties in 2016, last year there were 14.

Oh, that's right -- I had forgotten the uproar about the missing 3 parties last year! Was it 2016 and 2015 that had 17 each? And then everyone was counting on 17, and Disney offered up 14! So who knows about this year... probably more than 10, definitely fewer than 20! And the only date "for certain" should be 10/31.

I was wondering this same thing after seeing WDW announce theirs so early. For those of you that are regulars, do the parties sell out fast the first day they are available? I plan to be ready to purchase as soon as Disney gives the word, but this is my first time visiting at Halloween and would really be bummed if we didn't get to see the party.

Also, for any of you who have been to both of the parties in DL and DCA, how do you think they compare? If the rumors are true and the party moves, I'm curious are they still as neat in DCA and do they still do fireworks?

And on sale as of yesterday. I was surprised, much earlier than last year. I wish DL planned further out.

As far as planning for the party goes it's a guarantee that they will have a party on Friday or Saturday every weekend in October and on Halloween itself. Anything else is just a guess as things could change a lot this year with party dates and location. Exact days and details will not be known until July.

They never sell out the first day but the Disneyland parties usually all sell out and begin selling out 2-3 weeks after tickets go on sale. Friday night parties usually go quickly as does actual Halloween and if there are any Saturday night parties those also go quick(first party to sell out in 2016 was the only Saturday night).

Here is info from last years party info. It's found in the #3 post of this thread

"luvflorida" you mention you are coordinating with "family member from three states". Be sure they are all aware of the time lines of past ticket "SellOuts". It's not uncommon for a member or two of a large group to delay purchasing tickets only to find the date needed is sold out.

While MHP tickets have never "SoldOut" the first day, the fastest I've seen was last year.
Tickets went on sale to the public July 24, 2017. The online information had MHP #9 for October 13, 2017 as SOLD OUT on July 28, 2017

You can see from past info they all will eventually sell out.

I love going to the parks with a large group of my family. You're going to have a blast!!

Good luck with your planning coordination.

If it moves to DCA, this will be the first year so no one knows how it will compare. Personally, the party at DL is awesome (and even worth the $120 tickets according to my husband, which is saying A LOT) and I kind of think DCA will not be as good (for us personally) because in general DCA does not have as many things for my kids to do. And if they don't do fireworks...no thanks.

I think I've seen people say that the parties used to be in DCA years ago. I could be wrong about that because it was before my DLR time. But even if they were, it's bound to be different now since so much time has passed and DCA has changed along with the party offerings. To answer OP, I don't think they can do the same type of fireworks show at DCA, but they might be able to do a smaller show and/or do a special WOC.

True - that was like 10 years ago though and I think in general the Halloween parties are much different. And you're right, DCA is a lot different now too. ToT could have been what Haunted Mansion is (-ish) but it's just weird to have a party without Jack and Sally and the whole Nightmare before Christmas theming because that's really the only "Halloween" type thing disney has.

TOT did make sense as a Halloween "fright," but Disney did create a Halloween version of GOTG last year and it was a lot of fun. They only ran the ride at night so you could see the regular ride during the day. They also did overlays for the minor Carsland rides. Rumors are they could add more overlays to Racers and/or Toy Story. Racers would make more sense to me as Toy Story is on the pier far from all the Halloween hubub. By the way when we visited last year at Halloween time DCA was a crazy madhouse at night with locals. It was the busiest I've ever seen the park!

I attended a Halloween party in DCA in 2009. I think it may have been the last year the parties were held in DCA. It was fun! I especially liked getting to ride California Screamin' at night (this was when DCA regularly closed at, like, 8 or 9, so a rare occurrence). They had a Halloween parade and rare character/villain meet & greets in the Pacific Wharf area. I remember seeing Bowler Hat Guy walking around. I'd expect if they do move over, there'll be a special Halloween-themed World of Color (it was still under construction in 2009) and a parade again (or a couple of Halloween-themed floats in Paint the Night, maybe?). It didn't feel at all crowded since DCA is so much more spread out. Most rides were walk-on, except for Tower of Terror. The Halloween themeing at DCA has only gotten better since then.

I could definitely see GotG "After Dark" thing they did last year being an experiment in the logistics of switching the ride over mid-day so they can make it a party exclusive if the parties move to DCA. The same could be possible with Toy Story since they would just need to change the screens and music. I would guess they're trying to think of ways to add in more exclusives so they can keep increasing the price. Space Mountain is also sort of set apart from most of the Halloween festivities but they still do the overlay there, so I could see it happening at Toy Story.

Any chance of a mid Aug party like at WDW? Seems way too early to think about Halloween but since we are there this year, it would be great if they had one.
