Greetings! I am trying to plan a surprise trip to Disneyland for my husband in October and I want to take him to the Disneyland Halloween party? Does anyone know what days in October they are having the Halloween party? Also, i am no familiar with Anaheim and am kind of on a budget. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we could stay that perhaps is close to or has a shuttle to Disneyland?

That should be a fun time! Regarding the Halloween party:

Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party takes place at Disney's California Adventure. This not-so-scary Halloween party is a fun-filled evening for the whole family and includes trick-or-treating and other spook-tacular activities. The party requires a special event ticket, but regular park admission is not required.

2008 Dates:
October 16, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 - 6:30-10:30 p.m.
October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 - 7:30-11:30 p.m.

PRICES for Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party (includes parking):

Advance purchase by Annual Passholders and Disney Visa card holders for selected dates: $25.00

Advance purchase by General Public: $29.00

Day of Event Purchase: $37.00

Passholder discount is available for the following dates: October 3, 16, 22, 23, 28, 29

There is no discount available for the October 31 event. All tickets for that date are $37.

Tickets available on-line at http://www.disneyland.com/tickets
Or by calling 714-781-4400.
$3.00 shipping charge.
Discounted tickets available to Annual Passholders on Disneyland's Annual Passholder web site: http://www.disneyland.com/ap
No charge for kids age two and under.
Limit of 8 tickets per event.

If you look at disneyland.com or getawaytoday.com, you can take a look at Good Neighbor hotels and get an idea of the prices. Most of them will have shuttles if they are more than a couple of blocks (Even at HOJO you can take the ART). At getawaytoday.com you can get two Magic Morning entries with 3-day or longer Park Hoppers.

HOJO has some great entertainment book rates in October - $59/night for a deluxe room.

Take a look and happy planning!

Try not to stay at the Quality Inn. Not very good reviews of that one unless you like insects!

Hey, QueenB......., I had a question for you. We have been to DL and DCA when the Halloween Decorations are up, but never actually there for Mickey's Trick or Treat party. This year, whether we stay at the hotel or not, I believe we will be at DLR on either 10/3 or 10/10. Are the tickets for the Party separate from the admission tickets, or will be be able to get into the Party in DCA just by having Park Hopper/tickets? How does it work? Do they close DCA to non-Party people at a certain time and then escort all the Party people in or what happens? I know you need special tickets to get in if you do NOT have an admission to the park itself, but if you have park admission, can you get into the Party with just that? Does anyone here know?

Actually Sherry, Mickey's Trick or Treat party is separate from the park hopper tickets. The park closes around 6pm on party days and is open only to Halloween Party ticket holders.

Oh, thanks for answering! Ok, so if we wanted to visit Mickey's T-O-T Party, we would have to buy separate tickets (not going to happen) and anything we want to do in DCA would have to be done by 6:00 p.m. because then we get our booties booted out of the park? I didn't realize they shut down the whole park except for people who have the special tickets! That is good to know! I am glad to know that up front! I would like to see the Trick or Treat Party but not at $29 or $37 extra or whatever it is. Those Park Hoppers are expensive enough!

Although, Wazowskilover, I don't know if you read my frustrating update late yesterday (on the thread about the hotel discounts) regarding the chat I had with the nitwits at the WDTC and how now they say I may not be able to use the PIN# (I had previously been told I could use it) because they stupidly addressed the discount e-mail to my friend, even though she has nothing to do with my email address or home address? So now there is a question as to whether or not I can use it at all because they mistakenly thought my friend was at my address! I can prove I live at the address they have on file for me and that my friend does NOT live her, but because they attached her name to my address, it looks as though she is trying to transfer the discount to me! Arrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Lord help me!

Cheapest place to stay is probably Little Boy Blue Motel. Google it. It's in the 45 buck range. It's one of the closest to DLR too. Go to tripadvisor to see if it's something you would be interested in. Or go to Hotwire and see what kind of deal you can get there.

FYI... DCA generally closes at 5 or 6 anyway in October during the week - even without the TOT party. It may be open a bit later on Friday but I am not sure.

check out hojos. for your dates make sure to speak to in house resvation.

It is open a little later on Fridays and Saturdays. We were there last year. Without looking at the schedule, I think it is open in October until 7 p.m. on Friday and later, like 8 p.m., on Saturday, I believe. That is what happened last year. I will have to double check the hours on the website, but I have never been there when it closed at 5 p.m. Also, 10/10 is a holiday weekend (Columbus Day is on 10/13), so they are likely to be open until at least 7 p.m. on Saturday, I would think. Mickey's TOT Party starts at 6:30 on the 3rd and the 10th, I think I read so that leads me to believe the park would have been open until 6 p.m. on a regular off-peak Friday? I don't know. An hour or two difference doesn't matter much to me, just as long as I know beforehand when it closes so I know how much we have to get in, and how long we have to do it. Thanks for the alert!

Awwww. I'm sorry Sherry. I hope everything works out !! That would suck so bad if you couldn't get it! I hope you do get to see the party though at some point. I can't really give you an idea because we're going for the FIRST time this year :) WOO. I can't wait. My mom is going crazy. She told me to stop talking about Disneyland today because she said its putting her out of the mood. Darn. I guess I can depend on my cousin disneyL0VE and you haha :)

Let me know what happens when you call, Diznee. Does your dad live at your address? Ask them whose street address and contact info is on the offer, because if it is YOUR info wiht his name, it SHOULD be okay because you are part of the same family. My friend and I are not related nor do we live together! I am curious to hear what they tell different people.

See, first I called the Pin# phone number (Central Reservations) on the offer, and explained the whole mess and told them that my friend does not live at my address nor does she read my email, and we are not part of the same family, but that I got the offer emailed to me. They checked and they have my address and phone number and email on file - with my friend's name as being the primary resident!?! The girl on the phone told me I should be able to use the discount once I explain because my address matches what they have in their records. So, I knew the original mistake had come from the WDTC, from when I made reservations through them last year and they had my friend's name on file as my GUEST. I then called WDTC and asked them to please make the correction in their database and remove my friend's name from my account, for future reference. I don't want to miss out on offers in the future because they use my friend's name! I mean, they can put her in there but use HER contact information, not mine! WDTC told me that there is no way to change the database (which is crap) and that all the mailings are handled through Disney marketing - which is Disney Destinations. Then, WDTC told me that Central will NOT let me use the PIN# because they will think that my friend is trying to 'transfer' the offer to me when it was addressed to her. I reminded them that she does not live at my address so if they randomly send things out to my e-mail or home address that are addressed to her, then neither one of us will be able to use them because the address won't match the name. So it essentially is a wasted discount offer! You would think they would want to correct this so that they don't send out useless PIN codes!

Anyway, I think if I ask for the same woman in Central who originally told me I could use the offer, it will be okay. If not, it's not the end of the world. But WDTC did not want to take the blame for making the mistake and they claim they cannot correct it!

I have another Halloween Party question. I am assuming that they distribute wrist bands like they do for the party in Orlando. Can you get in earlier for this party? If the party in Orlando started at 7, then you could get in at 4. Is this the same in California?

No, the ticket only gets you in to the party after the park closes. You can go to DCA before the party, but you need to have a ticket to do so.

Sherry, I would call reservations and double check. When we booked through WDTC they were very helpful, but had completely wrong information about certain things (with meal vouchers, etc.). They book the packages, etc., so I would go with what reservations say and then get confirmation e-mail etc. Do you have an AP? The AP7 rates (which are better than the PIN code) are out now for the fall and they are pretty good. No concierge deals to be had, but the room rates are good.

I booked today. They did not give me any trouble about the fact that my friend's name was on my offer but at MY address. SO that is good. I was waiting a bit to assess my money situation, but something told me to call the Reservations number ASAP to get the PIN discount. I do not have an AP, by the way. I could not get the weekend that I wanted unless I wanted to pay $100 more and get a concierge room at PPH, which I do not, so I had to take the weekend prior to the one I wanted, with the instruction to periodically call in and check to see if any openings come up on my weekend of choice, and then do a quick switcheroo! The rooms are apparently booking up really fast, from Aug. through December - weekdays too - with those PIN # discounts, and they are not even letting people do the 7-day courtesy hold on rooms anymore. I bet they will send out those PIN # discounts next year too, now that they see how many people are jumping on them. When I mentioned to the CM on the phone that early October is the 'off-season,' she kind of chuckled as if to say, "Not anymore!"

Now, PPH is considered the 'economical' hotel of the Disney trio of hotels, and if that one is booked, then I can only imagine that DLH and GCH - the two hotels that people would probably rather stay in - are booked too, as those are the ones people really want to use the discounts for.

I wonder what the crowds will be like now in early October. Last year, in late September, it was so great to just walk right on and off rides with no wait. Now, I have no idea what is in store!

I hope you do manage to get the weekend you originally wanted!

I found that the deals for PPH and DLH were not too far off. We considered PPH concierge if the deals were as good as last year (would consider a cabana concierge room - the pool and slide are great for pre-teens!!), but at $340/night - no way :sad2:

Yes, that is a bit lofty, though the idea of a cabana room sounds great! But at that rate, you might as well stay at the GCH! I can tell that, like you were saying in a previous post, different people in different segments of Disney Reservations are confused, and it seems that each one says something slightly different. I suspect they didn't anticipate that this PIN# discount thing would catch on quite as well as it did, because it is covering the off season as well as parts of the on-season, and so they haven't gotten all the facts straight amongst them. At one point, the lowest PIN offer was PPH for $149 per night, standard city view. Now it is $159 at PPH for the same view/room! So, I had a feeling the DLH rates suddenly 'increased' too, or were not available. I will keep checking back here and there to see if a room miraculously opens up on the weekend I was asking for, but the more I think about it, I think it will be more crowded that weekend (Columbus Day weekend and Yom Kippur), so I might actually be better off with the one I got! Just as long as my weekend is not one where POTC is closed - I would be very annoyed!
