This comes up every race. The bottom line is -- with some exception and without making assumptions based on body size or age -- you really don't500 know if they truly lied or if that is a time they are capable of running. It's a Disney race, so even the fastest runner may decide to take it easy, stop for every character, take their time and soak in the atmosphere. I've done ::checks signature:: 40+ Disney races and have seen bad etiquette from fast runners, slow walkers and everyone in between. I've also seen it in races outside Disney (hello RnR Vegas!).
It's just... people. Courtesy across the board has gone out the window since the pandemic, but I will say race etiquette hasn't changed much since 2016 IME. I'm as guilty as anyone of NOT doing this, but try to focus on your own experience, be kind by default and practice patience when you need it, then come back and vent here.
