Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend 2009 - WISH meet

I plan on being there for Friday as well :)

I wish we could make both meets, but won't be flying into town until 6:15. By the time we make the hotel, we're going to go straight for the Expo to pick up our packets, and by then the meet will probably be over. Oh, and dinner will need to be snuck in there somewhere too!!

See some of ya on Saturday!!

I was also going to try to stop by for both.

Is there a specific place that we meet before the races? Or just wherever the bunch of lime is?

If Lynn did not say I do believe we can make both....

This newbie would love to come by and say hello to everyone! I will try to do so on both evenings.

Edited to add: Thanks Jeff!

I'll stop by the W tent. I'll be wearing my green WISH visor and some sort of running skirt.

Jeff is that storm to the south going to be a prob??? From what ya posted looks like not a prob.

Friday evening for Z-man (Michael) and I (Alice); we'll be heading back home to San Diego after the 5k. :)

Nah, looks like it will be okay. If the weather person says it's going to be windy and raining, then we'll get sunshine and zero breezes.:lmao:

Hey, looks like you won't have to bundle up in your Saran Wrap outfit like in January. The Wyoming Winter gear can stay home.:thumbsup2

This will be my first time ever to DisneyLand (southern cal for that matter). this is also my first ever half marathon! I am really excited!

My brother and I are flying in friday afternoon. hopefully we will be able to see the John Williams concert...

but what about the WildFires?? has anyone asked about that? sorry if the information is already on this board... I havent been able to find anything.

My brother talked to someone who lives in LA and also a co worker who used to live there. we looked up maps of where the fires are and it looks like if the wind shifts south east that the fires could get really close to DisneyLand... we're already thinking that the john williams concert will be canceled as there are fires right next to the hollywood bowl and they will cancel unless the skys are clear?

anyway... just thought I would ask.... if for some reason they did have to cancel the race... what would happen? move the race to another location on the same day? or just reschedule? I know I wont be able to afford a second trip to CA anytime soon.

Kewl beans on the fire...

We are seeing the smoke here in WY, Not so much today so far but yesterday morn it was here for sure...

Looking forward to seeing one and all...

Welcome Buckit!

People have been saying that smoke has not been a problem - that tells me the fires are not close enough to pose a danger. I do not know that Disney has ever cancelled a race, so I would not know what they would do if it was necessary to cancel. I am sure some locals will chime in with more information.

Have a great day all! See you all soon!

Morning everyone! I was just checking out the weather and air quality for Anaheim. No changes to race day weather since Jeff posted it yesterday, and the air quality seems to actually have improved just slightly. It's still showing "moderate" for Anaheim, but the areas to the north that had been really bad are shrinking a bit, so that is good news...

Is everyone packed up and ready to go? See you all in just a few days!!

The fires will not reach Disneyland. They would have to burn through literally millions of homes, stores, and suburbs in order to get there over a period of months. My personal opinion is the air quality will be no worse than the smog creates on an everyday basis.

That being said, bring on the clouds! I wilt in the heat.

Just received from Disney:

Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend
September 4-6, 2009

Dear Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend Guests,

Recent news of fires in the Southern California mountains has caused an interest among runners who will be joining us this weekend for the Disneyland Half Marathon. At this time, we are moving forward with the Disneyland Half Marathon as planned. We continue to monitor the air quality situation with the Southern California Air Quality Management District (AQMD); the safety of our runners is our first priority. You can visit their Web site at www.agmd.gov to keep updated on the current situation and forecasts for race day. The location of the fires is quite a distance from our resort, and the weather forecast indicates a week of cooler weather and favorable wind patterns, so we anticipate a safe and comfortable weekend of fun.

Of course, we will keep you posted should anything change, but for now get your shoes ready for the Happiest Race on Earth! See you real soon!
