Hi
I am looking for information about the resort. I will be going out to CA in FEB for a few nights and I will be staying there.
Also I would love to see some pictures of the rooms.

Thanks

Its very pretty and conveniently located. Its the only DLR hotel that evokes the level of theming and "someplaceelseness" of a WDW resort. On a par with the Wilderness Lodge if you are a WDW fan including room size. The style is Art Noveau meets Arts and Crafts Movement meets National Park Lodge. The rooms are nice but not huge - again very AKL/WL - in size. In a typical room the two sinks are outside of the bathroom and the toilet/bath are separated from the sinks/room by a sliding door. There are 3 places to eat, a gift shop, a bar, and loads of comfy couches to sit on in the lobby/fireplace area. A short walk out the side door gets you to the center of DTD. I lurve me some Disney themed hotels. Enjoy!

And the most important part is you can literally walk from the DCA directly into DCA. There is a special entrance right into the park that drops you off between Grizzly Rapids and Soarin.

Here are two pictures of the room we had:

We had a 4th floor park view.

This was our view (zoomed in).

I absolutely love this hotel. It's so close to everything and quiet as well. It could get a little noisy at times being above the park, but the doors cut out the majority of the noise.

thanks for the photos! We are going spring break:scared1: but I am really looking forward to the option of just coming back to the hotel if the parks get too crowded for me.

Hi. I stayed at the Grand Californian back in 2001 and again this past weekend before Christmas, December 21-23, when it was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The way I always describe the GC to those who have not seen it is that when you walk inside the spacious and cozy lobby with the high, high, HIGH ceilings and dark wood and dim lighting, it reminds me of a an elegant yet rustic chalet in the mountains somewhere. It is the perfect hotel to stay at during the holidays, as one of our other members said, there are big comfy chairs and a fireplace and when we went, a gorgeous Christmas tree, and you just want to curl up with a beverage and good friends and chat. It is not the sort of hotel that you want to get OUT of. In fact, it is more the sort of hotel you want to stay IN. I keeping with the rustic lodge-ish theme, there is the Storytellers Cafe, which is a character restaurant featuring the moore 'woodsy' Disney characters like Meeko from Pocahontas and Brother Bear and Chip and Dale, etc. It is a great hotel. The rooms usually have balconies. The bathrooms have H20 bath products rather than standard Disney bath goodies. IT is very expensive at the GC, but part of that lends itself to the fact that you CAN walk right into Cal. Advent. and Downtown Disney from there, not to mention the fact that it is the closest hotel to Disneyland. During the holidays, there are carolers who come every night and sing to the people relaxing by the hearth and in the lobby. If you can scrape up the money for it, I recommend it to everyone. Not that the other hotels aren't fun - they ARE, and I have stayed in all of them - but this one is just special. You'll know when you see it! Have fun!

When you get SOAKED on Grizzly River Rapids you just walk a short walk to your room and change clothes - VERY CONVENIENT! We stayed there in June and had a 3 year old - one took her back to the hotel and napped or swam while the rest rode "big girl rides" and then we all met up later and we all lived happily ever after :cool1:
