OK... so I'm a WDW vet and a Disneyland newb. (Yes... I know... for some reason feel the need to say that in every post! Guess I'm just scared of looking like a DL idiot so I want to make my little disclaimer!!!!)

ANYWAY.... I'm looking forward to some major Disney snacking while I'm there and I'm trying to figure out if any of my favorites will be there! I'm sure they have to share some of the same foods since I've already heard Dole Whips and Churros mentioned!

What about cheese stuffed pretzels?
And more importantly - Spicy cheese stuffed pretzels???

The Spicy Cheese Pretzel is my all time favorite snack in the world! :lovestruc

What about candied almonds? They sometimes have in a cart near the Jungle Cruise at WDW! Mmmmmmm!!!

What about Goofy's Candy shop? Do you guys have that at DTD? Do they have a "make your own caramel apple" setup like the WDW DTD one? That place is heaven on earth!!!! :yay:

What are some of you favorite foods and/or snacks in the parks?

I love the frozen bananna's, they are just bigger in DL. :) The churro's taste better from Disney and my favorite two things of all...biegnets and Gibson girl ice cream!

They do have cheesey pretzels, I've had one. :) YUMMY!!!! They also have regular pretzels with nacho cheese sauce if you prefer that instead. There is a candy store on MS, one in DTD (Marceline's) and in Critter Country they have Pooh Corner which has YUMMY stuff. Tigger Tails and Caramel Pie Caramel Apples are my faves there. :) Oh the choc. dipped strawberries are AMAZING!!!!!! Oh and there is a candy store in DCA as well. :)

Personally, I love the churros!!! :)

My list of DLR must eats

Chili in Bread bowl (which im gonna miss this time around sad)
Churro
Frozen Banana
Dole Whip
Sour Balls
Fudge
any red meat dish from Blue Bayou (also missing this time :sad1:)
Hot Coco

I dont know much about DTD, but I do know that poohs corner has a lot of candy stuffs.

Beignets at Cafe Orleans (NOT near Jazz Kitchen, BLEAH!).

Fritters at Royal Street Veranda.

Mickey Bar, but the fam can't have 'em b/c of the corn syrup, a forbidden food for the guys in my house.

The FRUIT!!! Yum!

DL has jalapeno cheese stuffed pretzels and sweet cream cheese stuffed pretzels. Plus, the Mickey shaped pretzels with cheese dipping sauce mentioned above. I don't know if they have the make your own; I don't think so b/c we have never done it in DL, only WDW. They do have a bunch of different kinds of apples already made.

What are your favorite restaurants in WDW? That way we can tell you what is similar. Also, remember that although there is some great food at DL, there is not nearly as much as WDW, primarily because of size and no Epcot.

From the info I got during the ladies trip, Pacific Wharf Cafe was open despite Boudin Bakery being closed. (just like I said it would be, bwa ha ha...).

Of course that might change. But it was said to be true this weekend!

Gosh darn it!!! The fritters  THAT is what I missed last week when we were there. I knew I was forgetting something! Oh the reasons to go back!

I love the Jazz Kitchen Beignets yummy!!

Sadly we do not have something like goofy's candy shop at DL. But they do make some mean standard apples, like the apple pie one yummy!!

I have to say I miss the old fritters :( My Mom got some last week that were the worst ever. They were cold and yucky. The newer style is so hit and miss, I was willing to wait a half hour for the old school ones that came hot right out of the fryer. Oh the good old days :(

Any kind of caramel apples are good at Disneyland, their churros, the chili with bread. If you want to see something really special, try to Blue Bayou, get there early and make a reservation for dinner. The resturant is right in the Pirates of Carebbean ride and the food is the best! popcorn:: :stir:

barbecue pizza is to die for but then again I have sensory issues so the onions are what I crave.

Bucket of Cotton Candy is a neat way to eat spun sugar.

I so miss beignets.

Taste Pilots cheddar burgers are huge and their criss cross fries are so good. I miss eating the onion rings there.

Popcorn and caramel corn

Baked chicken is great at Plaza Inn with enough ketchup, sensory thing you know.

Tri Tip is another great dish and do an Ariel meal as they are fillling and I even ate my veggies, faint.

Coke Corner has the best hot dog on a gluten free bun with chips and soda pop. Award weiners is good also. I have not tried the bratwurst in Fantasy Fair. Avoid the bagged dogs as they are premade then shipped in the bun to carts.

CORN DOGS. On the boardwalk and at the little red wagon in front of the photo shop and baby center area. I MISS THOSE

Fresh fruit like watermelon is refreshing. ESPN is a great place to eat. Pineapple spears are fresh and yummy. Chocolate from the shops oooh.
I miss fudge so much and buying from the candy stores.

I love the DLR peanut brittle sold at the Market House on Main Street! I can't stop eating it! :cloud9:

Also love a waffle cone at Brrr Bank Ice Cream in DCA. I'm sure it is the same as the one in DL, but I like the setting in DCA better. They have lots of seating outside.

Well on the sweet side of things....

As far as 'good sweets,' as Bumbershoot said, the FRUIT is YUMMY! Can't stress that enough! If you like pineapple or melon or mango, you will find some of the best around DLR. We have discussed this magic fruit in threads before. We don't know what they do to it, but it is DELICIOUS. And this goes for just about all of the fruit you can find at any of the Disney establishments in DLR (I am not necessarily counting the non-Disney restaurants in DTD), including the hotel character buffets, the counter service restaurants in the parks or hotels and even the random carts you will see around the parks. All of the DLR fruit seems to be at that exact, perfect point of ripeness and juiciness or freshness. Even getting something like the apple pie a la mode (at Carnation Cafe), they stick an artfully sliced strawberry or two on the plate and it is just wondrous!!

Now, on the other side of the coin....the 'bad sweets'.......you can't beat the cinnamon roll at the Blue Ribbon Bakery. It is warm, ooey gooey, messy goodness that must be eaten with a fork. The blended mochas with whipped cream are actually quite tasty as well. Their cookies are delicious. They sued to serve strawberry shortcake, but stopped. The previously mentioned apple pie a la mode at Carnation Cafe is great, as is the Matterhorn sundae. I think the Plaza Inn has some great desserts as well.

As for semi-healthy snacks of the non-magic fruit variety, the skewers at Bengal BBQ are pretty good. I like the chicken skewer. Bengal BBQ used to have these great swirly things in the old days - kind of looked like a Dole whip but they were actually orange and lemon swirled together. SO good. And they stopped making them years ago.

My friend also loves the pickles at DLR too, and the churros.

Tigger Tales. I think someone on here reccommended them last year before we went on our vacation. Anyway, they are delicious: marshmallows with orange flavored white chocolate then sprinkled with dark chocolate. I'm not sure of the name of the candy shop, but its behind the Winnie the Pooh ride.

Just a correction, there is a Goofy's Kitchen at DL, it's in the DLH. I think Fairycat may have been referring Chef Mickey....I think that's what it's called, I've never been to WDW so I'm not sure. :)

I agree with mechurchlady, TPG is soooooooo good!!!!!! I get the BBQ chicken sandwich most times, DBF had the Bleu Cheese burger and YUM!!! It was soooooooo good! :)

And I will have to agree emphatically with Pixiewings71! TPG is, indeed, soooooooo good!! And I also got the BBQ chicken sandwich. I plan on getting it again!;) Those fries and all that yummy BBQ sauce - mmm mmm good! Of course, I had sticky BBQ sauce all over my face and hands after that sandwich, but it's nothing some Splash 'n Go wipes can't handle!!

I think she was referring to there not being a Goofy's Candy Shop. So no custom apples, just the ones they make.

My new favorite...coconut macaroons drizzled with chocolate from the Blue Ribbon Bakery. :worship:

Only 4 more days until I get one...:dance3:
and 5 more days until I get my second one...! :woohoo:
