Since there are only 50 Grand California DVC units, do you think they will bud more or convert rooms? Any chance of getting an unit for early August if you book 7 months in advance?

There are rumors that they will build a tower at the Disneyland Hotel.

Also rumors that the hotel rooms in the new wing were built so that they could be easily converted to DVC. These rooms are also included in the VGC dues budget, I assume Disney pays for those rooms.

The reason that Jambo rooms were converted to DVC rooms is because AKL had an occupancy issue and had difficulty filling rooms.

I don't think that the DL resorts have that trouble.

Yes, this rumor was fueled by the 2011 refurbishment, which included the renaming of the towers (Adventure, Fantasy and Frontier). DVCer's speculated that a Tomorrow Tower would be built, completing the original lands.

We were looking for August this year and availability was limited and very very patchy. So much so we are buying points there as we want to go every few years.

I booked at exactly the 7th month mark for a one bedroom July 3-7 and got the reservation. I think you just have to book at exactly the 7 month window or your chances start to diminish. We're looking forward to our first stay there.
