Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Hey Miss Wendy! Thanks for stopping by.
How are you doing? You went for a walk way back then, stopped for fries and a beer and were never heard from again on these boards. That's why I never let my kids go out unsupervised!

.
:rotfl2: I had forgotten about that...

Hi all! Just did a quick catch up with the thread and it looks like you are all doing wonderful! Sorry to hear Jen and Vicki are fighting the crud. Sounds like we all had something similar. I'm still not able to return to the treadmill but have been trying to do housework, etc. Still having trouble breathing and fighting the darn cough. Hopefully this week....

I forgot to weigh in yesterday but did this morning. 184.5 so 1 lb down from last week. I think I am going to lose slowly now and I guess I am ok with that but I keep hoping the scale will budge a little more. But I'm at 59 lbs since I started in Jan so I just need to keep going. I'd like to lose between 20-30 more but we'll see. Even just getting into the 170's would feel great. I am still suprised to see weights under 200 when I step on the scale sometimes.

I've been sticking to healthy eating pretty well but it has been pretty stressful for me lately so that makes everything harder. I can't wait to get back into my routine with the treadmill. I keep hoping today is the day but so far..no good.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Amy

Congrats on the 1 lb!! :cheer2:
Fabulous! :woohoo:

Be sure to take it REAL slow when you get back to the treadmill. You know, just walk a little bit and see how that goes. And then keep doing a little more everyday and when you feel ready you can start back at that week 1 of the 5k training. Your body has been through a lot and needs time to build back up.

I did 3.5 miles today and it felt like 8 or 9 miles. I'm absolutely depleted of energy now. Crazy how tired I feel. But healthwise I'm doing MUCH better. So I'll just keep at this. I leave on Monday for Plano, Texas (woohoo!) so will hit the fitness center then, but I'm not anticipating any strenuous workouts.

I do have some news. I signed up for the WDW marathon. And made a reservation at AKV for three nights (hoping to switch to BLT if available in a couple of days). The idea of running 26 miles and some 5 hours is more than daunting, but also kind of exhilerating. I don't start "training" for the actual marathon until 5 months out and will be at the "training to train" stage for awhile. Crazy. Gives me something good to focus on rather than that 1/2 I'm missing.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and taking the opportunity to get outside and MOVE! :cheer2:

edited to add....meant to quote Jen but got so excited about the marathon news that I hit the wrong button..lol

that is SOOOOOOO AWESOME!! So proud of you! Oh my gosh...the 5k seems so far off at this point, I can't even imagine running a full. Can't wait to hear all about it!! WOW!

Glad you are getting back to running again. I wasn't sure where to pick up with the C25K once I could get on the treadmill again. I was going to start week 3 again and see how that went..that was the last week I finished. But maybe I will try and see..if I can't do it I can always go back to week 1. Thank goodness there is more than 9 weeks left till labor day..lol.

:cheer2::yay: Great going, Amy! That is so challenging when you're sick but you've been able to do it! That should just give you so much encouragement. You will see the 170s and soon.

Be sure to take it REAL slow when you get back to the treadmill.

Wonderful, Jen!!! I am so happy to hear you're getting stronger and stronger. And you found a way to motivate yourself.

It's my dh's birthday this weekend, so eating out two nights in a row is not helping my weight loss. I was going to try going back to the treadmill today but ran out of time (with the last minute gift shopping). I will make time tomorrow. I'm pleased that my back is showing improvement and I feel good enough to try the walking and some careful machine and weight work tomorrow.

Sounds like a lot of people here are on the mend as well as finding their way back to the thread! Yeah!

As for me, I have really picked up the exercise since my 5k walk on wednesday. I have been in the gym twice since then and worked out doing cardio for over an hour each time. I also went to a parade on saturday and walked all over town with my kids. I have been staying on plan...using a few of my weekly allowance points here and there but getting in all my water and doing better with my fruits, veggies, and dairy. I even got take out from my fav restaruant yesterday but only got one order instead of two and split the one order with my mom. I still got all the flavor, just not the volume. I even had her split the portion for us so I know it was even.

Hope everyone is having a great day! And I hope I can keep up with the working out...I have to work a 16 hour day tomorrow and then tuesday I am hoping to go to work out even though I have the 4-12 shift today so will get little sleep tonight and have the 8-4 shift tuesday so will get little sleep monday night. That is going to take some major dedication to go work out after all that! I think I can I think I can I think I can.

Sarah

Yeah Sarah!!!:cheer2::cheer2:
You are doing so well! Congrats!:woohoo:

I'm off to Plano tomorrow. I messed up with scheduling and my plane doesn't come home 'til Friday -- my son's kindergarten graduation. I will squat at the airport Thursday night hoping for standby. Send pixie dust please.... I REALLY want to be home for last day of school.

I will try to keep up on some exercise and eat not too terribly. I have slept two nights straight with no coughing and no cough syrup. So I"m going to Texas with a clean bill of health!

Good luck ladies! Not sure how much I'll be on this week, but I'm sending you all lots of positive energy!:wizard::wizard::wizard:

Jen, have a safe trip. Glad you are feeling better, and I hope you'll get on stand-by. :wizard: Also thanks for that WW link, and congrats on signing up for the WDW marathon!!!! :cheer2:

Donna, so glad to hear your back in on the mend.

Amy, keep up the awesome work!

Wendy, good to see you here. Come back and struggle with me. lol

Sarah, good to see your new found momentum! Keep it up!!!

I am scared to step on the scale! Good thing it's only Monday and I have a few days until I have to. I was out all day yesterday supervising 6 girls at the Adventure Dome which is an indoor amusement park. They loved it, but there was nothing to eat all day but junk. Like being at a carnival or something. And I was starving most of the day, so my food choices were horrible all day long.
Oh well. Today is a new day. Have a good one ladies!! :)

Have a great trip, Jen. We will miss you here.

I know the feeling. There's little you can do in situations like that. You're so right, thank goodness we get a new day each morning!

ADDED: Beth - reading in the other thread what you ate - no wonder you feel crummy today. It could be a combo of all the walking, etc. on a long day out and also the fried food. Take it easy - meaning rest - and drink lots of water.

I'm now 1 lb up from my lowest weight due to the DH b-day weekend (three meals out) and reduced exercise. I did have my first day back at my gym. I did 35 min on the elliptical at half the speed I usually do, and at level 1.

I am happy to say that my back seems fine this AM, so I didn't overdo. I also did some careful upper body work. But I'm not looking forward to my trainer check in tomorrow. I have to go and do all the math on my food journal today.:scared1::scared1:

Everyone who is healthy, enjoy your exercise!!

I just wanted to come and report that I worked out today on my elliptical for 20 minutes. My face was purple for 3 hours and now it's still red, but I got it done and now it'll will all be easier. I was going to the other day but my pain has been horrible lately and finally today I was like "to hell with it, I'm hoppin' on!" It was easy until about the last 3 minutes. I had Harry Potter on but my eyes were closed for that last bit just to get it over with. I'm rather proud! :cheer2:

Hi all - We had a busy weekend and DBF and I had planned to run yesterday -he's trying to help get me motivated but we slept in instead but I pinkie promised him I'd run today...so I AM GOING TO RUN LATER tonight...wish me luck and I'll check in to let you all know how it goes.

I am so proud of all of you for sticking with the diet and exercise programs! I'll get it back together - it's just taking me a little while. Running tonight will be a good start!

Thank you all for your kind words, encouragment and support! I :lovestruc you all! You are the BEST!

TTFN!

PINKIE-PROMISED? Okay, girl, you bettah do that run! We've had such great weather, there's no excuse. I wanna hear about the run!

Purple? Is that good? As long as you're feeling good... :cheer2:

I did 35 min on the elliptical, again slow but a bit faster than last time. I feel much more like myself too. :yay: Still being careful. We'll see the doc and the trainer tomorrow.

How's everyone else doing?

I can't say I've ever been purple in the face like that... it was leaning more towards red, but my complexion could have made me look that way? I felt great afterwards, but now my body is killing me! It's a good pain though I guess.... well a healthy pain anyway.

I'm glad your back is better! 35 min on the elliptical has me beat! I took it easy today because of the recent breathing problems. I feel over them now but every now and again I struggle. The antibiotics took care of the early signs of pneumonia well though.

My back is so sore right now! Between the cranial sacral therapy, working out, and my butt being in pain from sitting in this darn wooden chair for the past 3 hours.... I'm ready to lie flat on my back for the next 4-5 or so hours until I need to wake up and finish this stupid animation for class.

Night everyone! I'm so proud of all of you for your healthy goals!

So Vicki, did ya run, huh, huh, did ya, huh? I hope you did and I hope you had fun!

I am still at work but I am eating peas, so we are all good:thumbsup2 I did have 1/2 of a doughnut tonight but I counted it in my points and I looked up the points before I ate it. I have to say the temptation has been there today with a certain visitor come to call, but I did pretty well. I need to go to the gym tomorrow after work, but I always seem to have a hard time doing that at this point in the month.

Anyway, good luck to all who are struggling, you can do it!

!

Don't forget there's no contest here, no comparisons. Every body is different. Each body. And it's so important to listen to yours. If you're in pain now, think about ice. If you ice (using a thin towel) for 15-20 min max, it cannot hurt and usually helps.

So Vicki, did ya run, huh, huh, did ya, huh? I hope you did and I hope you had fun!

Hi Sarah! Sounds like you're handling it all great! It is day by day, step by step. :cool1:

I did! I ran...it wasn't too bad either but then I feel like I cheated a little because I chose a route where I'd have some downhill terrain! It's not downhill the entire time it's a route where I walk to the top of the hill...someday I'll run it..hahah! Then I run across the hill on a flat area and then down for a couple of blocks then across on flat ground for awhile then down for awhile and then across on flat again. Oh well at least I got out there
and ran 2.25 miles. I think I've found my motivation again. I did however wake up with a sore throat and stuffy nose but I feel ok not great but not bad either and I plan to run tomorrow anyway.

You are doing terrific and I know it is so challenging when that time of month is approaching!

Yes, funny pink swear huh? You cannot break a pinky swear...EVER! We have had great cool running weather but I could use some more sunshine! Isn't this CA after all?? Those travel commercials show sunshine! I understand there is this thing called June Gloom here but I like sunshine and blue sky!

Glad your back is continuing to improve!
PS I am so excited for the backstage tour next week and seeing you again!

I can't say I've ever been purple in the face like that... it was leaning more towards red, but my complexion could have made me look that way?

I get really red in the face when I run and although I am sure people think I am going to die but I really am fine! I really hate it but not anything I can do about it! So hopefully as long as you are feeling ok I don't think it's anything to really worry about.

I hope you back is better today!

Me too! :goodvibes I'm sooo happy you made that run! I have to say, this is the coldest June we can ever remember. This is much worse than the normal June Gloom. You know global warming is also the reason for unusually cold weather...

Things I use when I feel a cold is threatening... Zicam nose gel q tip type swabs... airborne tabs you put in water.

Everyone, let us know how you're doing! People who check in with a group lose more weight, it's a fact.:dance3:

My BL thread just posted this weeks results and I am in the top ten again. Not as high up as I would have liked to be, but it seems that alot of people had a good week, which is great! In three weeks, the people on the thread have lost a combined total of over 100 lbs! :cool1: I am really excited to see such progress and hope the group can continue through the summer. We have lost a number of people, though we have got some more signed up as well. I think we usually have close to 30 that send in their weights.

Hope everyone is having a great day. I am still planning to go the gym tonight but am wondering what I will be able to do.

Sarah

So I went to the gym last night and surprised myself by doing 33 min on the precor and 27 minutes on the treadmill, though I didn't go quite as fast as normal on the treadmill. I feel good that I got over my fear of working out on that particular day and just went for it. I am going in again tonight. Hope everyone is having a great op day and don't forget to drink your water!

Sarah
