Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Where is everyone this lovely Saturday?

Did a 4 mile run this morning. It went ok, but my instep hurt a little bit. I think it's time to get some new running shoes.

I'm feeling SO tired this weekend. Don't think I can muster of the energy to do much of anything.

For the QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND
Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.
Winnie the Pooh

I'll tell you. I was woken up at 7:45am to drive down to Downtown Disney to pick up my purse that I forgot the day before :headache: I feel so sick (stuffy nose, sore throat, fever). We got home, I fed my cone head (my dog in her e-collar after surgery:laughing:) then I went back to sleep until 1:30pm. I woke up and helped my mom and sister prepare for my sister's birthday dinner. I'm excited because we are going to play some really fun games and I feel way better than I did this morning.

OH and I avoided the scale today. I just didn't have the energy to go down to the gym to weigh myself. I might do it tomorrow or Monday, not sure yet. I definitely gained, or at least I think so. I only exercise 2 days this week (1 day swim, 1 day walking at Disneyland). I haven't eaten ridiculously bad because I have had like no appetite these past days. At Disneyland I ate alright and didn't have much soda (1 reg. coke, 1 coke zero, and 3 vitamin waters) because it was SO hot.

That's how my Saturday's been going.

ugh and now I feel tired again

Congratulations on your weight loss Beth! What a great birthday present to yourself. :goodvibes Now go eat some poop cake. :rotfl:
There's a pic of the poop cake (Kitty Litter cake) on my TR! LOL I think it came out good.........meaning gross! :rotfl2:

Happy Monday!

Cristabel-Hope you are feeling better! :goodvibes

Beth-If all deserts were as unappealing as your poop cake, I could give up sugar forever!

So far, I'm not doing too well with the sweets. They are just everywhere right now! It's like our American culture is designed to make everyone gain 15 pounds from Halloween to New Year. Ok, no one's to blame for me for what I put in my mouth, but it is a lot more challenging to stay away from the goodies...they're everywhere!

Now for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
In every single thing you do, you are choosing a direction.
Your life is a product of choices.

Dr. Kathleen Hall

Have a great day everyone!

I am having a pretty decent day, as far as eating goes.

Here is the damage:
  • Fiber One pop tart-thing 3 pts
  • Banana 2 pts
  • WW Smart Ones Sante Fe Rice 6 pts
  • Apple 2 pts
So, breakfast was 5 pts and lunch was 8 points. I have 12 left for dinner and snack. I think eating school lunch pretty much everyday last week has caused me to gain a few. I am just going to bring a lunch from now on. I am able to find the points. With school lunch there is no nutritional value listed. I imagine it is pretty high calorie. I just realized the FF milk was 2 pts./:headache:

Ok so I have been lurking for a while.
I am thinking of joining in. So heres my story.
I am 30, mom of two boys Jordan 12 and Kaeleb 8.
I have been chubby all of my life. 9 years ago a co-worker had a
gastric bypass. I thought about it ok so actually I googled it for
months and joined sites and well hey I thought that if I ever wanted to
do something like this I should know the facts. Not just depend on what a doctor has to say. I wanted first hand info.
Well enough of the rambling. Ok so I had my darling little boy in March of 2000. In December of that year I still need to gain 30 of the 60 pounds I gained. Oh yeah. Have I mentioned that I work in a potato processing plant? (btw thank you for eating french fries & instant potatoes you help me keep my job). Anywhooos....the majority of the women I worked with (I work back in maintenance now) are hispanic, and lemme tell ya, when you are preggers these ladies love to feed you!! Carne asada, enchilladas, tacos, spaghetti, rice, beans, salad, anything they make and give you they expect you to eat, oh and have seconds.
Ok so it was November when I really decided that after all of the researching and whatnots that this was for me. It was a done deal. Now all i needed was a dr. Ok so i found my dr. My first appt was Jan 2001. I was approved within 2 weeks of the Dr. sending my insurance the info. WOW!! Ok so my original surgery date was in May. But things happened and it was pushed back to July, fine with me. So July 12 was D-Day for me. Well in the first month I lost 28 pounds. In all I lost 156 pounds. Yay me. In 2006 I was down to a size 6. I thought that was way too small for me. I thought I looked really odd. I slowly started to eat more. I wanted to be a size 10. At a size 10 I was still fairly thin but I knew that during our trip to WDW that Hurricane Ernie would not blow me away. :lmao:
Well little did I know that with that slight weight gain, and well baseball 5 days a week and not having time to go home and make dinner and all of the eating out I would gain even more weight than I had wanted to. Ok so now I was a size 12 in 2007. By our Christmas trip to DL I was a size 14. Now its October almost Novemeber and I am a size 16.
I am not sure where I will start. But lemme tell ya sitting at a desk all day does not help.
So now as I sit here I need to make a plan. I want/need to lose 50 pounds total. That would put me around 140. I am good with that.
I would like to lose at least 15 pound before my trip to San Fran at the end of Dec. But I am not sure.

No kidding!!
This weekend was lousy for me. Bad choices all day long on Sat and Sun.

Oh well. All we can do is keep trying right?? I hate to say it but I really want the holidays to be over. I wish it was January 1st already. As you said it's up to me what I put in my mouth, but it's just soooooo hard when all your favorite foods and treats are everywhere you do. :sad2:

Hi Debra!!!

So glad you are joining us! We all have our own goals we are working towards and are here to support each other through the good and bad. LOL Like the holidays. Bad, bad holidays. Evil holidays. Ok, sorry. haha

I know you can reach your goal and look and feel GREAT!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm a bit disappointed in my food choices today, OK a lot disappointed. :sad2:

I really need to fins a way to start incorporating exercise back into my routine. The first day I woke up in Anaheim after walking at the parks, my legs hurt so badly and I knew I was out of shape. I'm hoping to start using the elliptical or something like that to get more strength in my legs.

OK, enough rambling. I hope everyone is doing good and keeping on track. I know it will be hard this week with Halloween and all it's evil bite sized treats.

And welcome jordansmomma, I feel kinda weird calling you Debra since I don't know you too well, but from now on I'll call you by your real name if that's OK. It sounds like we've gained the same amount of weight from '07-'08. Except I refuse to move into my size 16 jeans. :rotfl: I don't care if I do have to lay down on the bed to zip mine up, I'm sticking with the 14s until the buttons pop off! :snooty:

See how the heck can you wear a size 14 if we are both 5'9" and weigh within one pound of each other??? I wear like a size 22!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think you really weigh around 150. :rolleyes1

Oh, and I don't know her either but I'm calling her Debra. :rotfl: If not, I won't learn her name and I'll walk around calling her jordansmomma the whole trip. LOL

I'm 238 and I wear a size 22 and it's big on me (almost falling off:cool1:!) So I don't get that either! You should be a size 16/18!

Could you imagine...Hey Jordansmomma, could you please pass the salt??? :lmao:

Welcome Debra!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
We are so glad to have you here joining us on this getting and staying healthy journey!

If we want to be able to zip up those smaller sized pants without causing ourselves bodily harm, we must STAY AWAY from those evil bite sized treats. Even if they are small, they still have empty calories, especially when we eat ten of them (uh, me, no I didn't eat ten.. :rolleyes1 )

So here is the QUOTE OF THE DAY to help us navigate through the sea of candy:
Resisting temptation is easier when you think you'll probably get another chance later on.
-Unknown

Maybe it will help if we realize that we will have a chance down the line to eat a snickers, that there will be more treats coming up later, that we can safely pass on these goodies and know we are not depriving ourselves forever. We're just saving up...so we can enjoy some lovely holiday treats, looking and feeling great at the Christmas (or whatever holiday you enjoy) party, fitting into those smaller sized pants!

Later ladies...
Now go do some tricking and stop treating! pirate:

Ha, I wish! I'm no where close. Last time I went into Fashion Bug, which wasn't that long ago, the smallest I could get into was a 22. :confused3 Maybe it's my fat butt and hips. I dunno.

I've always worn bigger sizes though. In high school, I was only 125 at 5'9" and I still wore a size 12. So who knows.

Could you imagine...Hey Jordansmomma, could you please pass the salt??? :lmao:
And you'd say, "Sure thing MommaU4. Here ya go." :rotfl: Yeah, that's not gonna work. LOL

OKay, so my BAD choices from Friday, and Saturday, and Sunday, and well, yesterday have all caught up with me. I had to weigh myself this morning and am up two pounds from Friday. :sad2:
Time to get back on track and serious!!! I'd love to be out of the 200's by Christmas which would mean an 18-20 pound loss between now and then so I'd better get moving!!!

Even if they are small, they still have empty calories, especially when we eat ten of them (uh, me, no I didn't eat ten.. :rolleyes1 )
Ten???

Um yeah, that's it. It was ten. Not fifteen or twenty. Nope, not at all. :rolleyes1

Maybe it's the brand of jeans? I wear a size 14 in Old Navy and they are the kind with stretch. Like I said, I need a size 16. Also I have a size 18 from there that are old, probably from high school and those fit too. :confused3

I'm 238 and I wear a size 22 and it's big on me (almost falling off:cool1:!) So I don't get that either! You should be a size 16/18!

Mam, yes mam! :rotfl:

:rotfl: ya, I gained just a little bit of weight, ok so I gained almost as much as my 8 yo weighs....
You can call me Debbie if ya like.

Isn't it amazing how that happens Debbie! Just last year I was almost in a size 10 and then I packed on the pounds. :sad2:

It's SO hard to resist them! Such small pieces of evil heaven. You start with one and next thing you know the bag is empty.

Ten???

Um yeah, that's it. It was ten. Not fifteen or twenty. Nope, not at all. :rolleyes1

Exactly! ;)

Hi all, how's everyone doing? Sorry haven't been on lately but been having some medical problems that are just messing with my head lately because can't figure out what is causing them.

I spent one whole day at the emergency room for them to tell me my appendix was okay, had a colonoscopy and that looked okay and he didn't see a hernia so still don't know what is going on. I have deteremined it's the fat pushing on my organs and making them hurt, lol.

After that little episode my neck really started hurting me all the way down my shoulder, arm and numbness in my right hand. I know that the C5/6 disc is really messed up since I had my clumsy attack :rotfl: , I do need to learn to walk without tripping on air. The Neurosurgeon determined that I do have athritis in my neck but also wants to check to see if I have carpal tunnel in my hand. Tomorrow I get to go and have them stick little electrodes in my hand to determine if this is what I have. I'm so tired of doctors right now. :sad2:

Today I turned 56 and nothing is hurting right now. :cool1:  :yay:

Now for the weight I have not done anything to help with losing of the weight. :guilty: I weighed in this morning at 163.5 which is not good at all. Hopefully I will start doing better. DH gave me a Wii for my birthday and I enjoy jumping around and playing. I am also thinking about getting the Wii Fit and Jillian from biggest loser has one out too.

Halloween is not good either, not that I really eat much candy (salt person here) but I do love candy corn and ate a whole bag by myself last week, so bad.

I hope that everyone is doing good on their weight loss and I will talk to you later (hopefully I won't ramble as I just did).

Shirley, good to see you back here. I am so sorry about your medical issues. I don't like doctors and I don't blame you for being sick of them. I hope things get figured out soon.

That's great about the Wii. And if you get the Wii Fit then hopefully that will help even more! You can do it. I have faith in you!! :cheer2:

I hope your birthday is a good one!!

Welcome Debbie and Happy Birthday Shirley!!

I'm ignoring Halloween this year. I've just told myself that I'm NOT going to eat any Halloween candy until Friday. So far its worked and I haven't been tempted. Both boys are not going to be home for the evening of the 31st so maybe I can talk DH into going out for dinner so we don't have to buy candy to give out (what's the equivalant to Scrouge for Halloween?)that way we won't have leftovers and I won't be tempted for the weekend. If it's not in the house I have a MUCH better track record, but once it crossed the doorstop I'm a gonner.

I've been really good about tracking and getting to the gym this week (even went on the weekend) and even when I forgot my socks (yesterday) or my water bottle (tonight) I didn't give in and go home, just dealt with it. My weigh in was today and since I was gone last week at the convention I was very cautiously optomistic and the total weight loss for the two weeks was 2.4!!! I'm really close to the 55 banner. I'm hoping I can keep this pattern going for the next couple of months. I'm almost back down to my lowest weight loss. I'm hoping to hit below 200 before Thanksgiving (and then stay lower throughout the holidays). It's going to be tough.

You can do it!!! And I totally know what you mean about the candy. We are not buying any this year. The kids aren't dressing up and I am having a couple of friends over for a vegetarian meal provided by one of them.

Good luck everyone!

Sarah
