Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Did my strength training finally this week. It was long and hard. Waah....

It's done. Having sushi for lunch. Gonna get back on track.

Cristabel, that is a fabulous post! I was so happy to read it and inspired. ;) :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

FINALLY today I went down!! HOpefully it STAYS that way and keeps going down instead of going back up! It is right before the weekend and weekends are always hard but we shall see! We have our big swim meet this weekend and I am sure I am going to be running around like a chicken and it is going to be crazy hot so I will be sweating like a pig so hopefully that will help keep it off ;)

I have gone down before in the last few weeks but then went RIGHT back up again and I think it is because of these stupid meds so I am hoping that THIS time I can STAY down and go even farther. I have been working out and I dumped the fries altogether and pretty much the sugar. I have cut way back on my portions as well. So we shall see. ;)

Yea, Kelly!!! So great about heading down!

My weight will do the same thing, go down and then go up again, so that part may not necessarily be the meds. I just don't want you to feel like it's pre-determined. Keep doing all these good things you're doing and good luck this weekend.

I've found my second wind!

After completing training with Tyrae I just stopped exercising and my so-called "diet" went out the window. I've been down in the dumps because I don't see a difference (then again why should I?) and because I see people having great success here on the thread as well as seeing thin people on the street.

Exercise is..is..ugh. Thinking about it and starting is torture. After the 15 - 20 minute mark I start to feel the endorphins kick in and I can deal with the pain.

Oh, here's your quote. I know that feeling of "why can that skinny friend of mine eat all that" - and how it doesn't do you any good. Comparing yourself to anyone is the root of all unhappiness.

I am wondering Jen, what she said about the "torture" and "pain" of exercise. My feeling is that the longer you practice exercising, the less you feel that way at the start. For me, I start easy for the first 5 min and then it just gets going. Any torture is at the end of a long set, but not at the start. I think what I'm getting at, Cristabel, is that this will get better, the more you do it.

Ran four miles today.

Yea!!!:yay: You are doing sooo well. About eating a lot, I noticed when I was on an active vacation earlier this year, that I ate more food (on this small ship) but I was so active with hiking and swimming daily that I lost weight. I'll bet you're burning up more than you're eating.

I came back from my recent trip and lost a pound, then gained it back, then lost it, then gained back two. And that was after a day of walking and sweating at DL. I'm finding if I don't do my actual gym work, that I won't lose.

So - off to the gym today.

OK, FINALLY got in a nice long run -- 9.44 miles (being exact for Vicki) in one hour and 40 minutes. Really had to push myself to get it in, but now feeling much more confident about my training for the DL 1/2.:thumbsup2

About exercise being torture until the endorphins kick in...well, torture is kind of a strong word, but what I can say is that I often am not "in the mood" to exercise and I do it just because I have to, but after 5 or so minutes the endorphins get going and I enjoy it. So, it's not torture, but my exercise sessions aren't pure joy either. It's that discipline that has been keeping me going lately as I haven't really "felt like it" when it comes to exercise. But I know it keeps me feeling better overall.

We're planning to have a garage sale tomorrow. A lot of work to do today to prepare. I have this feeling it's not going to be worth the effort, but heck, we'll just donate what we can't sell.

Have a great weekend and GET OUT AND EXERCISE!!!

Great on the run!!!
The garage sale will be bonus exercise.

Yesterday I ran out of time doing errands. I chose to arrive late to a function (it was ok) and squeeze in a fast 20min at the gym. I upped the intensity to 3 and worked at a much faster pace to help make it more effective.

For some reason I am eating more - night snacking. Everything is 100 cal portions but that adds up fast. I'm not sure if it's because I made it past my first event goal (probably is). I need to find a way to get serious because my new goal is 20 lb by October, about 1 pound a week. Saw a guy I know who lost 40 lb this year. He looked great.

I'm headed to the gym again today.

How's everyone else doing?

We so did the garage sale. Kind of sad to see all the kids stuff go...train table, stuffed animals, all the baby stuff. The kids are growing up too fast.

Anyway, we made $320 dollars and got rid of a ton of stuff. A lady came at the end and asked me "how much for all the toys." I was about to kiss her and tell her I'd pay her to take all the toys, but we negotiated and I got $60 plus all the stuff hauled away. She's sending them to Fiji Island I guess.

So our garage is a whole lot lighter and we are Thomas free in the house. The kids were pretty much willing to part with everything but the legos and some books. We told them they could have the proceeds of the toys they sold to get new ones in Switzerland.

Is this really happening?? I still don't know about my job, but heck, maybe we'll go anyway with just one salary.

No exercise today, but I wasn't supposed to, so it's all good.

Later divas...

I can imagine it was hard seeing old memories go. But that someone else will now enjoy these is a good feeling. And the cash, good going!

PS, tell your kids that Switzerland (next to Germany) makes the best toys in the world.

I fit in a 30 min elliptical at a good clip today at my new level 3. Love the way I feel all day when I exercise.

OK, this morning isn't going the way I had planned. DS still has earache, so I had to cancel my yearly OBGYN appointment, so I can take him in to be seen. He's bouncing up and down, but complaining of an ear problem for 4th day in a row, so we've got to check it out. Maybe it's swimmer's ear??

Can't get my remote connectivity to work to get on my work email (so I'm DISing, go figure...)

But I'm down 2 pounds since Friday, so maybe I've recovered from the Thursday dinner. I'm prepared to go up a little as I get into the really hard training for the race. Race is the priority now and it's hard not to be hungry when I'm running so much. Next long run will be 10+ miles in two weeks.

We leave for Hawaii this Thursday and will be staying at my FIL's place. I haven't gotten any days off, so I'm planning to work from the beach. My life is a little chaotic right now. Let's just say I'm not bored. I may be doing too many things at one, however.

OK, time to try getting on the work network again. And then get one DS to school and the other to the doctor's. Oh yeah, and I do need to squeeze some work in there somewhere. And exercise. Yeah, exercise. :rolleyes1

Later...

Hey all, sounds like things are going fairly well for people! I am doing ok. My eating has been good but I haven't worked out too much...been watching the kids at home while dh paints the house. I did get the desk organized and all the old paper shredded, so that's something. Hope everyone has a great day!

Sarah

Morning gals! Glad to hear everyone is doing well! I am still making progress FINALLY!! I am down to 160 again. Hopefully it keeps up!! I have been really trying to drink a lot of water and not even have the little diet soda that I usually drink. I normally only drink maybe a quarter of one at lunch and dinner but I have been trying to drink ONLY water. Then I have been eating a lot of fruit and watching portions etc.

I worked out on Friday and then again today. Didn't work out this weekend cuz we had our huge swim meet. It was SOOO hot though I probably lost at LEAST a pound just from sweating LOL!

So far I have lost almost 3 lbs cuz I was up to 162.8 so I am happy about that but disgusted that I am even AT this point considering I was at 155 for months. And now I have to work my butt off to just get back to where I ALREADY was. And then I am going to have to work to even lose from the point where I was at. But I guess that is all part of it.

Anyway good luck to everyone!!

Yes on the 2 lb gone!!!:yay: And Hawaii - with all the swimming and snorkling and fish to eat, you could lose there too.

I had swimmer's ear once. Not fun. They have drops that you put in your ears after swimming that help dry them out.

Oh, that's such a good feeling, organizing. There are some theories about the relationship between a tidy house and weight control.

Congrats:yay::cheer2: 3 lbs!!! If you were at 155 for months, your body will get back down there.

I went to the gym and did 30 min of a free weight class. I left because I couldn't stand that they have a few bikes upstairs that are inches from the glass windows that overlook the class. The class is all women and this guy gets on a bike and stares at us even though there were plenty of free bikes elsewhere in the gym. It just seemed so perverted (he was creepy).

Anyway, did 42 min on the elliptical at level 2 after that. I really do not want to show a gain on the scale when I see the trainer tomorrow (I've eaten too much this week to expect a loss).

How's everyone else doing?

Did pilates at lunch. It was SO crowded. What's up with that?

Meet with trainer tomorrow at 7am.

It is too hot to exercise outside?

Everyone wants a bikini body?

Not really the bikini bod crowd. More 40-60 women for wellness people. And I think it was hoter in the exercise room than outside.

Maybe work is SLOW for everyone right now, so we're all sneaking out.

My computer is still busted. I'm on my DH's right now working with help desk to fix my work one. It was supposed to take 30 minutes. Three hours later...

And what about YOU??? :confused3 . I figure you're probably thinking that the DL 5k is off, BUT IT ISN'T! I'm still expecting to see you and Amy there! Don't much care if you walk or crawl the darned thing. Just be there!

Don't let me down, Beth. I'll be the only Diva there. So very sad. :sad1: And it'll be the last chance you have to see me before I'm off to Switzerland (which may happen...). Do you feel compelled yet? Anything else I can say or do to make you go? When positive motivation doesn't work, maybe I can just resort to guilt.

So I was up bright and early for a training session with the PT at 7am. Went fine. It's a hard workout, but I did ok.

Kids are going to Lake Anza with Grandma today. I've gotta have a productive day at work. Oh, and a run. Yeah, a run.

Yea!!:yay::yay: Beth showed up! It's great to see you here again. How is Amy doing?

Hi Jen and Donna!

Jen, I really doubt I'll make the 5K. :( I wish I could but I don't see how right now. Back to school is such a tough time financially. 4 pairs of new shoes, 4 hair cuts, 4 school supply lists to fill, 4 new lunch boxes and backpacks, and so on.

I was going to go with Amy, but I don't think she's going now. :confused3 We haven't talked much. Only here and there on Facebook. She was in the hospital for a bit due to her back, and off work too. I "think" she is on the mend now, but then I saw a post that her husband was admitted for some problems he was having.

Add all that to moving into the new house and all, and she's been super busy. I doubt she's given much thought to the 5K. But I don't know for sure. :confused3

But I know you are going to do great Jen! Even if we don't make it there, we'll be thinking of you. :cheer2:

Hey all. Doing ok. I did an hour on the eliptical thing at the gym yesterday. Eating well. Hoping for a good loss this week!

Sarah

Beth, good seeing you here!

Hey everyone...man it's quite around here! I'm sure that's because everyone is out exersizing! Anyway, my wi was today and I had a fabulous loss after last weeks gain and even got to my 10%! I was hoping to get there by the end of July! So glad I made it! Did well eating at our bbq tonight! Spent most of the time wranglin' kids and talking disney!

Have a great one!

Sarah

Don't forget to drink lots of water in this heat!

This is the first I've heard of back problems so serious she was in the hospital?? Oh dear.

Sarah, that is wonderful!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: You're doing great.

The heat has gotten to me. I was putting groceries in my trunk in a cooler I have there. I bought the ice, thought I'd then hit the gym. I'd forgotten I had Costco frozen food as well, so it was not all going to fit. I had to drive home. By then I was so hot, I fell asleep for two hours!

I don't even feel like getting in the pool, it's that hot.

So don't do what I did - go to the gym first!
