Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

This weekend was a lot of fun. Not. Spent Saturday planting front yard and redoing the bark to give some "curb appeal" to the house just in case we are going to rent it. Then went to my Mom's retirement party and had to defend myself to all of her friends. How I could possibly take away the grandkids from the grandparents for two years?! :headache: I was like, I'm not even going yet. Hold on!

Today went through the home office packing boxes. After working all day, everything looks worse than when I started. If we don't end up going to Switzerland, at least we will have a cleaned up house. :sad2:

We are planning a garage sale next weekend. And then painting the interior walls and recarpeting the downstairs. All per property managers' instructions. Not fun. If anyone wants to come to SF Bay Area and help with cleaning and packing, let me know! I'm drowning in junk over here. :scared:

Hopefully will learn more about my job tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Oh, didn't get my run in today. My legs hurt so much on Friday and Saturday, I decided just to give them a break. Long run tomorrow!

What is your time frame? It sounds like it's all happening very quickly (which I think is good). Remind me which part of Switzerland you'll be in please. I loved it so much, my ex went to school for four years in Basel, which we visited.

I'm sure you're getting a ton of exercise with all the packing. You are in better shape so you can probably handle all the bending over w/o hurting your back the way I did.

I did my 50 min on the elliptical and then swam for 33 short laps (not a regulation pool). So my appetite increased and I must have overdone it because I'm up a pound! On my weigh in day of course....

How's everyone else doing?

Wow, wish I could come help...I love organizing and going through things. Just helped my mom with her closet last night and am doing my desk tonight! Good luck!

As for me, was away on vaca and didn't eat well at all. Haven't worked out for almost 2 weeks due to work and vaca....getting back in the gym tonight....nervous.

If we go, we're looking at moving beginning of September...if the work permit comes through in time. My DH got a job in Baden, which is just about 20 minutes from Zurich by train.

Great job on the elliptical and laps! :thumbsup2

Hope the gym went well! I did make it through the office again tonight, plus my dresser counter...so we're ready to show the house with a property manager tomorrow. Still have to clean the kitchen and playroom downstairs before I can go to bed. Too much to do!

I ran 4.5 miles today. Was trying to make it 8, but just didn't have it in me. Need to get in a good long run soon.

Jen, anyone who exercises while packing up a house, is a hero in my book. You are amazing.

I think I was in Baden years ago. That's perfect. I love how clean Switzerland is. I used to say that more than any other place, Switzerland lives up to the picture postcards. Any other place, if you look to the right or the left of the beautiful scene, you'll see billboards, or a McD's or trash. But not in Switzerland.

There is a famous ice cave that I have fond memories of.

I saw my trainer and it is true, I lost a pound while on vacation. I attribute it to getting up early one day and working out at the hotel gym, splitting one dessert with my husband at one dinner, and walking a lot. Oh, also bringing protein drinks and bars.

Did a hard 45 min workout and about 25 min on the elliptical today. I have a new goal now to lose 20 more pounds by mid-October. I figure it's about a pound a week, which is doable.

Where is Amy? And Amy sue?

Woo Hoo! I am this weeks BL Summer Challenge BL! This is the first time since week 1! Of course I will probably have a gain this week, but hey, at least I know I have made progress and am doing pretty well. In 8 weeks I lost 25 lbs! There are only 2 months until my trip to DL in September. I hope to lose another 20!

!

It's funny because when I grew up, we never went anywhere. I was actually scared to travel at the start.

Great news on the weight loss!!!! I'm sorry your knee is giving you some trouble. I hope you get through this healing process in good time.

I made it to the gym and did 50 min on the elliptical. I am feeling a bit scratchy in the throat though and my husband is feeling sick today. I will take some airborne and zinc and try to push through because I'm supposed to be at DL tomorrow!!!

Sara CONGRATS!! That is awesome! Keep up the good work!

Deb that is the best kind of loss when you weren't even really trying LOL. Hope it keeps up eh? ;)

Jen I hope everything works in your favor. I know how much you want this!

As for me I have at least levelled off for now. I am up to 162.6. I still can't even believe it. When I started my diet last year I got down to 155 and when I was having my issues in Jan I even got as far down as 153. Then RIGHT after the trip I had put on a little and then when I started on all these meds I slowly went up but then I hovered around 159 for weeks but then I just shot up. I went up between 160 and 162 for days and now I am fixed at this weight and not budging. I just DON'T get it. I have majorly cut back on what I am eating and although I am not able to work out every day I work out every day that I am able. Considering that I HAVEN'T worked out in MONTHS I am just shocked. I went from NOT working out and NOT watching what I was eating and staying down to now WATCHING what I am eating and working out and going up. It is SO bizarre.

The ONLY thing I can figure is it HAS to be my medication. All I can do is my best though. I am going to just continue what I am doing and hope that EVENTUALLY something happens. I am just SO bummed though cuz even when I was at 155 I was not done. I SO wanted to lose more and now I have to just HOPE and pray that I can get back to where I ALREADY was for months! UGH! The worst part is my clothes are getting tight. SO frustrating. Oh well like I said I am just going to do my best. I have stopped eating fries again and have pretty much lost the taste for those and I am back to eating a small healthy breakfast of either shreadded wheat or oatmeal. Then for lunch I have been eating my healthy choice meals. And for dinners I have been eating very small portions of whatever we have. Last night we had turkey breast and we DID have potatoes but I had like half a serving and then we had green beans. So we shall see.

Anyway good luck to EVERYONE on this constant battle ;)

Kelly, you sound like you're eating well. I agree with you, it is probably the medication. But if you have to be on it, then at least you're doing better than if you weren't watching what you eat.

I have some thoughts - look at the shredded wheat and be sure there is no sugar in it - look at the box. Oatmeal is great, be sure it is plain as well.

Believe it or not, sometimes weight gain happens when we don't eat enough. Are you getting veggies and small amounts of fruit? Are you getting a little protein in between meals? I'm just tossing out ideas in case something will help. Have you tried actually counting your calories for the week?

Look at the sodium content of the Healthy Choice meals - maybe your medication has made you sodium sensitive. Also, are you getting enough water?

These are some of the things that I have been told to look at when I've come in without a loss. Maybe something will ring a bell for you. Hang in there!!!

Thanks Donna. Yeah I think the frustrating part is I am doing pretty much everything I was doing BEFORE and I lost weight but NOW I am not only NOT losing but going up. That is why I think it is the meds. But at least for now I have finally levelled off. Like I said hopefully I will start going down again. We shall see.

Thanks for the advice though. :)

I've found my second wind!

After completing training with Tyrae I just stopped exercising and my so-called "diet" went out the window. I've been down in the dumps because I don't see a difference (then again why should I?) and because I see people having great success here on the thread as well as seeing thin people on the street. No more! I have to suck it up, shut up and buckle up because the excuses stop here! There is no "tomorrow" or "I'll do it later" because I don't even know if there will be a later. I need to live my life, one day at a time and that each day could possibly be my last.

Eating right is hard when you weren't raised on a healthy, well-balanced diet. It's also hard when eating is a social thing in your family.

Exercise is..is..ugh. Thinking about it and starting is torture. After the 15 - 20 minute mark I start to feel the endorphins kick in and I can deal with the pain.

With all that said, I'm kicking my butt in gear and losing the weight!!!

Now THERE'S the Cristabel we've been waiting for!! :cool1:

Exercising and saying no to tasty food is hard and it ain't always fun. But when you want this bad enough, it is so yours girlfriend. You have got it in you and it is SO WORTH IT!

GO kick some YOU KNOW WHAT! :woohoo:

Thanks, Jenn!

Good job Cristabel you can do it! I know it has been really frustrating for me as well considering I HAVE been doing everything right and GAINING not even staying the same and certainly not losing but alas FINALLY today I went down!! HOpefully it STAYS that way and keeps going down instead of going back up! It is right before the weekend and weekends are always hard but we shall see! We have our big swim meet this weekend and I am sure I am going to be running around like a chicken and it is going to be crazy hot so I will be sweating like a pig so hopefully that will help keep it off ;)

We always take our own food so we aren't tempted to buy the junk that is there. Although since it is a two day meet we may end up buying lunch one day but we shall see. But we usually buy a nice fruit tray so we have THAT to snack on versus unhealthy junk.

Anyway I am about to workout here in a minute and I am more than ready. Seeing that I finally dropped some weight has me motivated and I just PRAY that it stays off this time. I have gone down before in the last few weeks but then went RIGHT back up again and I think it is because of these stupid meds so I am hoping that THIS time I can STAY down and go even farther. I have been working out and I dumped the fries altogether and pretty much the sugar. I have cut way back on my portions as well. So we shall see. ;)

Yeah! Congratulations!! :cheer2:

As for me, I'm up 2 lbs. :headache: Back to my "plateau." I ate a ton at a greek restaurant last night, so that may account for some of it.

Anyways, number one priority right now is training for the DL 1/2 marathon. Just don't want to gain too much -- like not getting higher than this would be good. I just need to KEEP RUNNING...running, running and running, running. :woohoo::woohoo:

Doesn't that stink!! You'll get back down though! Probably just some water weight from the food! Keep up the good work! ;)

I had a gain this week but I know it will be gone next week. I went to the gym last night and put in my hour of cardio...granted, I didn't put as much energy in as I should...I am going again today so hopefully I can kick it up a notch!

Congrats on the attitude Cristabel...you CAN do this, one day, one hour, one minute, on decision at a time.

Good luck on a great new week all! Be sure to drink that water!
