Disneyland Dining with no confirmation numbers?

We are big WDW veterans and I always have my spreadsheet filled with our ADR confirmation numbers. How surprised to find that DL only uses your last name for a reservation.

My last name is difficult to pronounce and spell. I'm worried that my reservation will be lost with no way I can confirm.

Has anyone run into problems with reservations before? I am making reservations for a large party (11).

WDW regulars always get nervous about this difference for some reason. DLR does not use confirmation numbers, just your name. Try to think of it as making a reservation at any restaurant not in a theme park. They just need your name and number of people in your party. :goodvibes

We have a mouth-full of a last name and we've never had a problem with any reservations (4 trips in 12 months), you should be just fine! :thumbsup2

I always call & confirm all my reservations the week prior to the trip....I have a 3 letter last name & have had them mis-spell it......so this way I make sure they are all together. Just keep the dates, restaurants & times listed & then call them before you go....then you for sure won't have any problems!!!

Funny, but when I made our WOC dinner reservations they sent a message to the manager at Ariel's. She called me back and gave me a confirmation number for my party. I wonder why they don't do that for every reservation.

Because there is no need to do so. When you make a reservation at a restaurant elsewhere, you don't expect a confirmation number, right? It's an expectation WDW regulars have because it's done there.

We have had numerous reservations and never had them lose one. I would not worry about it at all.

I have to admit that it threw me as well at first because I was used to making ADRs for WDW. Seems like WDW is the exception (rather than the rule) with Disney, because DLP also uses last names for confirmation opposed to numbers.

I also wanted to add that dining, in general, isn't as competitive (not sure if that's the right word) at DLR as it is at WDW so even in the unlikely event that they lose your reservation, I think if you just tell them you had a reservation for this date, at this time, for x number of people, under this name, they most likely would honor the reservation. It really shouldn't be a problem.

One time they didn't have my name on the list...but they got is in right away!!! Yummylicious!

WDW vets are usually surirsed at finding this out (and in turn I was surprised when I ehard you got confirmation numbers for dining at WDW) but there really is no need. Like PP's mentioned, you don' get confirmation numbers when you make a reservation at a regulat restaurant, right? My name is difficult to pronounce and spell as well, so you're not alone there, and I have never had a problem before.

I made 2 breakfast and 2 dinner reservations and a Walk in Walt's footsteps tour reservation from a different time zone & country on my mobile phone and everything was perfect when I got to DL!!!
See those CM really are magical!!:cheer2:

So at WDW you get a confirmation number, have you ever actually had to use it because they couldn't find your reservation? I don't make many priority seating arrangemnets but have never had an issue with the ones I did.

I also wanted to add that dining, in general, isn't as competitive (not sure if that's the right word) at DLR as it is at WDW .

I agree with this. At WDW so many people are on a prepaid dining plan, and it can be hard to get ADRs at certain restaurants ... at DLR is really is so much more relaxed! DLR doesn't have the variety of WDW, so hopefully that makes up for it a tiny bit ;)

I made my first reservation with Disneyland Dining last October for Blue Bayou and when we got there they didn't have our reservation :( I was VERY upset because it was my mom's birthday dinner, luckily they made sure we got in anyway and even got a waterside seat but I was still pretty mad that they'd lost it
