Disneyland dining Q: The Lounge at Steakhouse 55

Hello! has anyone eaten here for a special occasion? I will be celebrating a birthday on our our upcoming trip. As we arrive from Australia the day before and will be having our first day at the parks (and it will be a Saturday so busy day) I am reluctant to drag fam for a pricey meal (ie to the actual restaurant ) when everyone will be tired and jetlagged. I want to know if The Lounge feels special and glamorous, or more like a waiting area for the restaurant proper, if you know what I mean? Cheers.

I think this would be better posted in the Disneyland section, you'll get better answers there. But Steakhouse 55 is one of our favorites in Disneyland (we live in California and go all the time) and if you're looking to experience it I don't think you'll find that at the lounge. We've only had drinks there (never eaten) but I felt like we were in a generic hotel lobby, didn't feel very Disney to me. It doesn't have the charm or "history" that the restaurant does. I love all of the old school Hollywood pictures in the restaurant itself and the food and service have always been amazing. I would say if you want to do it and are looking for the glamorous experience, then definitely go to the restaurant itself. I think you'll be disappointed otherwise. Although we love dinner there, breakfast is amazing and it's a super mellow way to start the day before the madness of a full day in the parks. And it's easy to hop on the monorail and go directly into Tomorrowland (although if you do this you'll miss the walking down Main Street experience)! Have fun!
