Disneyland Dining Plan

Hello everyone! I am making my very first trip to Disneyland in September for the Half Marathon (for the Coast to Coast Medal ) and the D23 Expo. Since I am very much familiar with how the Disney World Dining Plan works, I thought well surely Disneyland's is similar. After investigating, it seems to VERY different. I was just wondering what other people's experiences were with the Disneyland dining plan. Is it worth it? I will be with my mom and dad and we like to eat!! And we like character meals.
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

i like it but others might not. They dont give you change back is the worse part. Tho i see it as you can chose where you want to go an dont have cash on you just the vouchers.

With the vouchers, can you get anything you want with the given amount? Say, you have a $10 voucher, could you buy 3 drinks or 2 popcorns, as long as it doesn't go over $10?

You can even go over the amount and they will take the voucher and then you just give them cash for the rest. We don't like it because you don't get change back, we use Disney Dollars or gift cards or just our own cash or debit/credit cards. That's what works best for us.

Depending on what you get with the WDW Dining Plan, you can actually save money. So, it can be worth purchasing it.
Is the Disneyland basically the same dollar amount in vouchers and certain set price buffet meals as what you pay for it?
Or is there any perk beside just having a set amount paid for?

It really is nothing like the WDW plan. From all the folks who reviewed it in other threads, they all came to the conclusion that it just wasn't worth it. It's not a set of meal items and you can't really make up the dollar value to justify it. You are better off getting a gift card and loading that cash onto it instead.

Hey - since you are coming for the Half - make sure you check out our DISer thread on the podcast board. We are having an official DIS event that weekend! We also have official DIS teams in all the races and they are putting special packages together through Dreams Unlimited - the agency operated by the folks that operate these boards.

May as well make the most out of your race weekend!

let me put it this way if you like character meals then the 6day 5day or 4day ones good I am getting 6day one an going to all the character meals except lilo an stitch were even doing bbq meal
an then each adult will have 70left for snacks an food for the rest of the meals i have never worried about losing change just made sure to do math on what i was eating an I never loss money or spent cash
