I've been pricing out a vacation for December 30 - January 4. I have a Disney Visa and can get 0% interest for 6 months booking directly so I thought I would look into booking through Disneyland.com. I kept getting an error message. Couldn't figure out what the problem was. Called reservations and was told that the website doesn't have the ability to make a reservation that crosses years. Isn't that wild? Who would have thought? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Very interesting! That is wild! I've never heard of that. So you could have made a reservation for February 2012 and it would have been fine, but nothing that spans 2011 and 2012 in the same trip?! I'm sure a lot of New Year's visitors will find that out if and when they attempt to book online.

I never book DLR trips online. I always call Reservations directly and speak to someone to get any questions answered that I may have and to make sure that I am not getting any kind of a package when I want a "room-only" reservation. But I know a lot of other people like to use the website.

By the way, I answered your questions about the holidays over in the Christmas thread, but some of our DIS'ers - Belle Ella, mvf-m11c, Tksbaskets, Mariezp, etc. - could also be very helpful in either comparing the holiday seasons at WDW and DLR (mvf-m11c, Mariezp and Tksbaskets can all do this), or offering info on New Year's trips to DLR (Tksbaskets and Belle Ella can do this!), so I'm hoping they pop in over on the Christmas thread and give you some input!

Hi Sherry --

Yup - they can't take a reservation online that spans the New Year.

I would call the reservation line but I really like the ability to compare all the options. Especially considering we don't have the budget to stay on property.

Also, thank you so much for all your insight on the Christmas thread. I truly appreciate it.

Hi, I too had trouble booking my reservation for 30 December 2011 to 4 January 2012 and a lot of times it would come up with "no availability". When that happened, I'd go to another place on the Disneyland website where I could book, and surprise, there'd be hotel options and prices for me to choose from.

So I went ahead and booked Paradise Pier last month but I've been reading all these great reviews about the Grand Californian lately and so decided to relook at the prices today. Again, I couldn't get any prices until my fourth try, I don't know why you can get through one minute and not another, but you can get through.

My problem is that even though it's only another $300 for the Grand Californian, that's for a standard room as opposed to concierge at Paradise Pier, so I'm still ummming and ahhhing.
