When I watched the programme about the Basketball court in the Matterhorn the other day, I was impressed to see Mountain climbers on the Matterhorn!! Now thats attention to detail!

Indeed, see why I get all anal, to me the characters are by products. DL is all about the little details. When I was a kid, other than the parade, I didn't care whether or not I saw a character.

But I regularly experienced:

Barber Shop Quartets
Marching Bands
Rag Time pianists
African Drummers
Hula shows
CanCan Shows
Cowboy shootouts
Country Western Music live
Big Band
Tap Dancers
Mime artists
Jazz Bands
Fireworks
Live band on the Mark Twain
Pulling the sword out of the stone with Merlin
Mountain Climbers
Fireworks virtually every night (at least every weekend)
Live rock bands (including David Hasslehoff, Julian Lennon, Gloria Estephan etc).
Now Jedi Academy
wood carvers
black smiths
street artists
To me this is part of the magic

Yes you must go to Fantasmic - its amazing I have only seen the WDW version and I know the DL version is a bit different (and I have heard a lot of people say its better!), it actually made cry it was so good! That show is worth the admission fee alone!

Hmmm, I don't know if I would go that far, I prefer Illuminations. However I can attest that i much prefer the DL version. While the seats are missing from DL, seeing all the characters on the Mark Twain as well as the Cpt. Hook/Peter Pan battle on the water is amazing. It seems to dwell less on the water screens as well. I think F! in WDW is ok, but at DL is awesome.

Shame you will be missing it Rob.

It all sounds wonderful....!

My fiancee really loves all the details in the Disney Parks........ I have to say, I'm pretty entranced by them! What I love about Disney is that its so much more than just a theme park- Even if you're not into rides, etc, theres so much to see and do!

I don't know if Dave mentioned the Saturday night swing dancing at DL, but I have enjoyed watching for several decades. In fact, the few remaining seniors are mostly regulars from many decades ago, who would come with their partner or spouse to dance on Saturday nights. As their spouses passed on, they still came with friends, or even alone.

A new generation of swing dancers arose from the local area a few years ago; now those teens dress up and dance on Saturday evenings, and have become friends with the older generation. It is not unusual to see a teenager dancing with someone 50 or 60 years older.

That is one of the special DL traditions which arose from being a 'local' park, and I hope that it does continue even after the original patrons are no longer able to join.

Sorry Rob that fantasmic is not open - you will just have to go back and see it :cool1: (or do what I do and watch it on youtube!)

Its still my personal favourite - sorry Davewasbaloo!

I illuded to it with Swing bands, but yep - I used to dance with my Grandmother, Great Aunts or Mother when I was a kid. Often we would buy an ice cream, watch the people dance while listening to the large big band and then follow up with Fireworks!!!! That's Disney magic.

Right. Although my DL ticker doesn't say so yet, it's now gone midnight Tuesday / Wednesday, which means it's now 9 days until Friday (the day I reach DL).

There's something special about the number 9... Now, what is it.

Oh yes, it's the first number with only one digit (when counting backwards).

That means it's time to get my dancing shoes again. As I'm extra excited about DL, I think it's time or a very large dance. So, let's start with some jumping faces:

:jumping1:
:jumping1: :jumping1:
:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:
:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:
:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:
:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

Now we've had some of those, I think we're in need of a party to join us:
party: party: party: party:

Finally, I think we need to go party with my animal friends:

The frogs

The bunnies

and of course...

The Hamsters!

Brill

Im too tired to dance properly but heres a mini one til tomorrrow (later today)

Just ordered my currency online from the post office - there will be $650 ready for collection at 1pm tomorrow from the post office just down the road from where I work :thumbsup2

I like the post office online service. You get really good rates (£1 = $1.79, where as the high street rate is £1 = $1.74), plus you can physically collect it rather than being forced to have it delivered (offering peace of mind and no trip to the sorting office when you miss delivery because you work 9-5:30 everyday). The only bad thing about it is they have a minimum order of £350, which is more than I need, although I should be off to the US again next year, so I'll just keep anything I don't spend.

Thats a good rate considering it has been falling the past few weeks:thumbsup2

We always keep any euros we have left as they will always get used sometime.

Indeed.

I could have had a similar rate from tesco online (without such a high minimum order value), but personally I don't trust the postal service for something that important / valuable.

I'm sure it would be delivered ok, but IF something went wrong with the delivery then I'd be £350 out of pocket for a while, until I could claim a refund (which usually takes time). Meanwhile I'd be stressing about not being able to get my dollars in time because I'd have to order some extra once I realise they're not coming, which probably wouldn't be until Friday.

I totally agree, I would hate for something that important to go missing in the post.

I've just had a look at the weather forecast for Seattle and Anaheim - it's looking like two totally different sets of weather...

Seattle is looking wet and about 16 degrees or so, meanwhile Anaheim is looking like being sunny and 27 degrees or so.

Guess I'm packing two different sets of clothes then :thumbsup2
