Hi Guys,
Just wondering how crowded Disneyland was/is at the beginning of October when The Haunted Mansion Nightmare overlay reopens. We've been to Disneyland at the end of September and it was great. No crowds. So we are wondering if we can expect the same deal in the beginning of October. Or should we just stick to September for lower crowds?
Thanks :)

HMH is already open - opened on the 21st. So far crowds have still been light, yesterday I was there in the afternoon until closing and it was walk-on a lot of rides, including HMH.

I would avoid the park from the 5th to the 8th as there is a very large group event called Gay Days that will be making crowds huge that weekend. Other than that, it should be pretty light.

The beginning of October is getting more and more crowded every year. Most year round schools have the first two weeks of October off now and I know a ton of people who go to Disneyland at that time now. You also have Gay Days the first weekend every year as well as Columbus Day.

Local schools are NOT out the first 2 weeks of October as a whole. A few schools here and there off track maybe, but nothing that will affect attendance. Just to clarify.

I am curious about the October dates as well. After going last week we want to take DS there for sure and do MHT. Does anyone know what part of the month will be less crowded?

Hi, thanks for the info. I should have specified I was thinking of going back in 2008. If that makes any difference. We are trying to figure out when HM goes down for rehab and it's potential opening dates for 2008.

Is October generally a lighter time to go? I have heard mixed responses to this. :confused3 We will be going the 3rd week of Oct this year...any speculations?

Zonies descend on Disneyland for Fall Break. Most schools are out Oct 8 -12, while others have the 1st two weeks of October off.

Starting to sound like it will be busy when we go Oct. 18-20 - BUMMER!

We'll be there the 9-13th. We made sure to skip the Gay Days event and Columbus Day in hopes to miss a lot of the crowds.

Of course at any point in the year there will be schools somewhere that are on break. Since most states don't just do the regular school schedule these days. I don't think that can really be avoided ever. But hopefully it won't play too big of a role on the crowds. One can hope!

We will be there from 10/08 to 10/14. It looks like all of the Disneyland hotels are full during that time. We are staying at the GC and have had our reservations for a long time. Even a lot of the area hotels are full. At first I thought it would be a great time to go, but not it looks like it will be packed. Oh well, we will still have fun.

:sad2: i couldn't extend my stay (originally oct 8-15) for another 2 days at DLH, they said they were full!! i can still hope it will not be busy. last time we went was the week after thanksgiving which was totally empty. it would be such a bummer to go this time and it be busy.

I keep telling DH that it wont be busy. It will not be busy!! (this is what Im chanting in my head). Not as bad as say, spring brake or summer or Christmas week right:scared: . He is only ok with going b/c I said it was going to be a slow time of the year.

We will be there October 15-19. I called yesterday to try to book at one of the Disney hotels (decided it would be a nice splurge to stay onsite after all). All three hotels are fully booked that week!

So much for going in off season.... :sad2:

We were there yesterday, the park was not packed at all. Most of the rides had a very small wait time (30 min was the longest, except Nemo & Matterhorn), most we just walked onto. Towards the afternoon crowds got bigger but it was still manageable. We tried to stay at DLH because it was just one night for us but all the resorts were booked, we stayed at the BWPPI instead (Tropicana was booked as well and it's our favorite). In all it was a great visit for a quick 1 day trip!! We left at 5:30 because we had a good drive ahead of us and we needed to get started.

I know, what you mean, we'll be there the same time as you. I'm still hopeful for shorter crowds since we don't have a week to everything. Best of luck!

We'll be there the 26th thru the 28th and I noticed DL's hours are 8 a.m. til midnight. Does that mean they'll be expecting large crowds or what? :confused3

DL is usually open until midnight on weekends, so it's NOT because they are expecting larger than 'normal' crowds that weekend.

Thanks, it's been awhile since we've been and when we did go we used to try to avoid week-ends. ;)
