Disneyland Area Hotel Review – SpringHill Suites

Thank you! Loving all the photos of the room, because the photos on their website are hard to tell the layout! This is for sure going on my list to try hotels. Bummer about the no tub though =(

I called to make a change to my reservation and asked for a room facing Disneyland. They told me they could book me in an ADA room and that it would have a tub/shower combo instead of a walk-in shower. Seems backwards to me. Wouldn't a walk-in shower be more accessible than a tub??

Oh, good to know, thank you.

Yeah, that does seem odd, but maybe because the walk in shower doesn't have anything they can sit on? No bench or anything? That's what I am thinking.

Is the CVS at this location a full-size store with a complete food section? Just wondering if this adds an option for picking up inexpensive snacks near the park.

I've read the reviews on Trip Advisor for this hotel (we're staying here the end of January using Marriott points...wahoo!!) and I'm not sure if it's a full-sized CVS, but several reviews have mentioned they picked up snacks and sundries to take to the parks.

We shopped there this evening. While it wasn't as large as our CVS back home, it was good size. Yes, it has a smaller grocery section, dairy products, frozen foods, snacks, sweets, etc. We asked an employee to confirm the hours -- it is open 24 hours. The pharmacy has more limited hours.

We recently stayed 4 nights here and just wanted to add my thoughts.

Can't really comment on parking. My husband found a spot at ground level as we checked in. It had a CVS customer sign, but the desk clerk said it was fine to park there, so we literally did not move our car the entire time during our stay. We kept our doors locked and didn't leave any valuables in the car and had no problems.

The room was very clean (of course, you'd expect that from a new hotel). Plenty of space. Pull out couch was comfortable. We were assigned an ADA room, which had a tub/shower combo. Water pressure was sort of iffy. Our shower had a handheld attachment and that seemed a little better than the shower head. The bathroom was huge! I had requested a high floor facing Disneyland and we were on the top floor. We had a view of the Tower of Terror and could see part of Mickey's fun wheel. We could have easily watched fireworks from our room. We were a little nervous because we were in between the workout room and the elevator/ice machine, but we did not have any problems with noise, even with facing Katella. Housekeeping seemed a little off, they left a spray cleaning bottle in the room one day and another day they did not bring us any clean towels, but no huge problems. Also, they had the smallest hotel shampoo and conditioner bottles I've ever seen! I don't know how 6 people could share it, haha! It wasn't a huge problem for us, but if you're someone who relies on hotel shampoo, just be aware you may need to call to get some more bottles.

The decor is very contemporary, which isn't really my favorite, but no big deal. My kids thought it was weird that there were eggshells hanging in the hallway for decor, lol. Side note, the hotel is non smoking, but I swear I smelled cigarette smoke almost every time I walked to the elevator in the lobby.

The hotel rooftop pool area is awesome, lots of comfy seating. We watched the fireworks from there the first night we arrived and it was a great view. My kids loved it. We did not use the pool while we were there, but I have to say I was surprised how small it was! I think I've seen bigger bathtubs! I don't want to think about how crowded it will get during summer!

Breakfast was disappointing. I know it's "free," but the scrambled eggs were horrible, sausage and canadian bacon were cold. We did the make it yourself waffle the first day, but didn't really care for it either. The muffins and sweet breads were tasty though. The breakfast area is way too small. We went early enough the first day to get a table, but the next 2 mornings we just took plates of food back to our room. I kept meaning to try the Coffee Bean for breakfast since I even had a gift card that someone gave me, but I never even saw where it was located!

Having the CVS right there is so convenient! It's a nice full sized CVS, prices were comparable to our CVS at home. They actually seem to have an expanded variety of Disney merchandise including shirts, magnets, backpacks, postcards and toys, I even saw cute yellow Mickey ponchos! (not quite the same as the original ones from the park) We thought we would cut through the CVS to get to the hotel entrance faster(there are doors on both sides) but they lock the back entrance at night. I think it's a great addition for anyone staying in the resort area.

The walk to the park is doable, but it can be pretty rough on little ones, especially at the end of the night. There were lots of people walking and I never felt unsafe.

I would stay here again as long as the rates are affordable and the service is good. I was really hoping that I would just fall in love with this hotel and it would become our "second home" for our Disney trips, but as much as I thought there were some very nice things about it and our complaints are very minor, it just didn't quite measure up for us. Maybe if the pool was a little bigger and the breakfast a little better and if it felt more family friendly. Despite the rooms for 6, it feels like it's geared more for convention goers or business travelers. I would give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Did anyone notice if this hotel has washer/dryers available? We're going to be traveling for 8 days and this would make my life much easier!

Yes they do.

Just fyi...we stayed there 5 nights the last week of January. Hotel was great...quick walk to the gates (we walk at a fast pace and i timed it at anywhere from 10-12 minutes), go the other direction and get to downtown Disney. It's a decent walk, but not terrible. Breakfast is madness, but given that it's free, we made it work. The earlier you get to breakfast, the better it wil be, especially with the crowds! There is plenty of room for storage in the room...slide suitcases under the luggage stands, stand up between furniture...we unpack and put everything in the drawers. Just make it easier to pack at the end of the week. If you stay here with little ones, there is no bathtub in the bathroom and the shower floor is slick. Our 4-year old slipped and got a nice little bruise on his forearm.
