Disneyland and Sea World: Any ticket deals?

I want to take the kids to Southern California at the end of June, and I'd love to see DL (we've gone to DW 5 times, but now live in Washington State so it's high time to see Disneyland!) I also have a 9 year old who is in love with dolphins, so we'd like to go to Sea World as well. However, the ticket prices are giving me chest pain. I was able to get a city special on Dollar.com for a car rental for $137 for the week---can you believe that rate????

But I'm actively searching for great deals on park tickets and hotels, and also airfare from Seattle to LAX. I may be staying with a friend in LA but that's not sure yet, it depends on a lot of factors, but that would be best for my budget.

If any SoCal people have any info or tips for me, I would LOVE you. This is something that has just come up pretty recently so I haven't been able to do a lot of research yet.

Thanks!

You should go over to the Disneyland boards ;) lots of info on hotels, restaurants etc. We just went to SW this April and they were running a get 7 days for the price of 1. Not sure if that is still the deal but check around since they run specials all the time. The other one they like to run is adult for kid prices.

Here is a good map for hotels near DLR -

Coupons for the area -

We stayed at the HoJo which has very nice rooms, a cool pool area for kids, with a very short walk to/from DLR and tons of places to eat nearby. You can find very reasonable rates for places right across the street from DLR. We fly into SNA which is very close to DLR and found a great deal on a car from Costco - it was less than $100 for the week!

Seaworld often has two day specials. But you'd want to stay down there for SW, in my opinion. It took a full half day for us to warm up to sW the first time we went. We were about to leave, actually, disappointed and bummed, when we saw a sign for the Pets Rule show. Decided to check it out and it turned it all around. CUTEST show ever. In our opinion, way better than orcas or dolphins. (haven't seen the walrus show, though)

Hey, glad I checked! The Southern CA Citypass is a combo ticket that includes Disneyland parks, Universal Hollywood, and Seaworld! One day to the latter two, and a 3 day ticket to DLR. You can upgrade the DLR tickets, but there's a max of 5 days there for some ridiculous reason.

We like Alaska Airlines for DLR. There are 4 other airports than LAX, remember! But if you have a rental car at a rate you like, might as well focus the search on LAX. Virgin America is an awesome airline, by the way. I LOVE flying them. We don't all that often, because DH gets free bags on Alaska and United, so when we fly Virgin we're paying something we don't pay on those airlines. But for someone who would have to pay for bags anyway, might as well check them out. They have some great rates sometimes, so get on their mailing list. Southwest is also a good option.

Be sure to go to the Disneyland forum and find HydroGuy's tips.

Glad I read this thread. Taking all the kids and grands (party size of 17..holy cow) next January. We are heading down to SeaWorld for a day because 10 yo DGS loves dolphins and when 7 did the Dolphin Encounter but wasn't old enough to go in the water with them. For that you have to be 10 and he never forgot he was promised he could go back, so we are tagging a day to the end of our DLR trip. Need 5 day DL PH and 1 day SW so will check out City pass.

For the Dolphin Encounter, btw, do you have to have proof of age? MaddieMouse will be 9 1/2 and is almost 5 feet tall. Can easily pass for probably 11. I'm wondering if we can say she's 10, or will we need to provide proof? Does anyone know?

We are going in 10 days and I got CityPass. It has a 3 day DL parkhopper, one day at SW, and one day at Universal. Even though we're skipping Universal, it's still cheaper than separate DL and SW tickets! They are having a price hike soon- like June 3 I think- so if you're sure you're going, buy now! You can upgrade when you're at DL to add more days.

The other thing is SW will give you 20% off if you are a Southwest Rapid Rewards member- show your card at the gate. But the CityPass was still better for us.

We are going to fly into SNA, do DL for 3 days, then Amtrak to San Diego. We're staying at The Dana at Mission Bay. From there you can walk or free shuttle to Sea World, and you can also walk or bike to Mission Beach. Then we're flying out of SAN.

I don't remember. Maybe go through the process of adding the encounter on the site and see if it asks for proof?

I went to the City Pass site just to get an idea, and could not find anywhere to add extra days to the 3 DL PH..how can I find that?

You have to wait and do it while you're at Disneyland.

Oh I'm sorry for the bad communication. I did mean that you can add it at the parks. IMportant to remember that at Disneyland they do not have the "bridging" policy, so you'll likely be paying the difference between what they value those 3 days ticket as vs the current gate price. They tend to price tickets like that at the value of the ticket on disneyland.com at the time you buy the original ticket.

ugh..ok..that won't work. I have to buy 15 tickets..yikes.. Maybe Orbitz will have another deal. The current one expires before I go.

When we went several years ago, the best price on the CityPass was from Costco. I was not even a member, but I bought them online and paid for a membership. Even with buying a membership, it was still a better deal for 5 tickets. This was several years ago, so may be different now, but thought I would throw that out there for you.

Not sure how many days you want to stay at Disneyland. My choices would be way.com for Disneyland or Citypass tickets as they are the cheapest i have found. You can read about way.com if you do a search on this board. You will see a thread that says "anyone heard of way.com?" I also purchased my Disneyland tickets from them, I will be going in July.

You will need to compare the Disneyland+Seaworld tickets vs Citypass, once again depending on how many days you need. I have a promo code for Seaworld that makes the tickets $63 for adult and children as well as getting a second day free that has to be used by 9/30/13. That code is SWCTACOBELL2013.

You can also check out getawaytoday.com to book tickets and hotel. I have used them before. I used tripadvisor.com this time to get my hotel.

Good luck!
