Disneyland 70th speculations and news

They’ve confirmed the parade will run through August 2026 but have not indicated if it will be paused.

Some cast members reported that Disney had asked them to commit through next summer, due to the large cast, rehearsal time and custom customs. I think this why people believe it will run continuously.

However, other cast members are suggesting that after the summer season has concluded, the parade will pause until next May. So we will have to wait and see.

The parade is labor intensive and has a high operating cost. Many expect that it will be permanently retired following the end of next summer. Maybe Disney is running out of storage space?

A popular theory in some fan communities is that a duplicate of the parade coming to the Magic Kingdom will make its way to DLR. IMO, if that was the plan, they would’ve built out both parades at the same time as it would’ve reduced cost… and premiered in time for the 70th.

My thoughts on parade times:
  1. It gives people time to get from Fantasmic or WOC to PTN. My guess is that sales of dining and dessert packages dropped when PTN started. By pushing back the second parade, it allows guests to enjoy more entertainment and allows Disney to sell more packages.
  2. Fantasmic moved to 9:05 pm and fireworks moved to 9:35 pm. By pushing the first PTN parade back by 5 minutes, it puts everything on track for how they originally intended for it to be. The real question is why did they need to push Fantasmic back by 5 min?
  3. A 10:45 parade finishes Main Street around 11:15. Maybe they found that too many people were rushing into the park for one last attraction. An 11:00 parade finishes Main Street around 11:30 and finishes at Small World at 11:40 pm. By pushing the second parade back by 15 min, guests are more likely to leave after the parade. It may be a more efficient way to clear the park.

You are correct. My Better Together Parade dessert party reservations were changed from the early afternoon time to the later afternoon time. Disneyland called me while I was on my trip to get me my new reservations which I got. When I asked why the change she said there was soft demand for the BTP Dessert Party at the first time and second time and Disneyland decided to do the party for the late afternoon parade.

When I ate at Plaza Inn once, I asked the manager about the PTN dining packages, he said the bookings started out strong but have gotten softer as time goes by. He thinks it is a combination of the viewing area and the menu offerings.

Not that I know of other than opening Walt Disney A Magical Life and the last verse being added to Small World.

We were there for Disney's 100th (10/16/23) when they didn't do anything. Yesterday they released a MK t-shirt that has the date July 17, 2025 and says "I was there." To me, that is promising that they are going to do something. At least they are acknowledging the date.
Thanks..
I also flew in for the 100th and nothing :(

I have the trip booked for the 17th but still on the fence about going..

Does anyone know how long Rex will be out for?

Is it also confirmed that Perry the Platypus is only out Saturdays?
Cast members told us to expect Rex until August... I'm guessing Halloween season is the cutoff.

Perry is supposed to be out Saturdays only, but apparently last Saturday he had the day off :( We were there.

I haven't heard anything about dates. What I have heard is that lines are long.

The first weekend, there were displays in every store - Toontown, Bayou Country, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, as well as WOD and the Emporium. They quickly took down Toontown, Bayou Country, Adventureland and kept the larger displays in Emporium and WOD. That made sense. Let people purchase the keys as they enter the park rather than taking up space stocking them in the smaller stores. Last weekend, I didn't see the keys in WOD but they were available in DL.

I mentioned earlier that they will soon be putting out Halloween merchandise. They need to consolidate or remove some of the 70th displays to make room for that. I imagine that displays of the $99 castle and $149 snow globe will also be removed.

The key stations aren't going anywhere. While they may have sold their back stock of keys earlier than expected, I'm sure as soon as they realized they had viral item, they started making more.

I really hope they make more keys and that they're readily available at the end of July. Seems like such a waste to have the key stations up around the park if you can't buy new keys.

Let me guess, the cards you can obtain around the park with your MB+ are out too?

They’ll have more. Right now, they have a difficult decision to make: tariffs are increasing their cost, so do you take an item that cost a couple bucks to make and is selling for $60 and pass the tariffs on, or do you eat them?

Coming so: the 70th Key To Disneyland for $70!

Where are the views if you did a dining package for PTN.

They have tinkered with the schedule AGAIN. Starting today, PTN moves to 8:50 and 10:50 (not 11:00). Bottom line, keep an eye on the schedule day of your visit!

Any idea what collection the conductor hat part of, or is that park exclusive? That's top of my list to pick up.

Also regarding the keys, that's too bad about the stock issues I'm really surprised they're struggling. Hopefully it stabilizes shortly, we're hoping to do the key experience when we're there in a couple of weeks.

Perry the Platypus must have had an unexpected mission somewhere in Anaheim…

So now it's back to the same amount of time between the first PTN and the first F! (originally 8:45 PM and 9 PM, respectively; now at 8:50 and 9:05 PM), the same amount of time between the first PTN and fireworks (originally 8:45 PM and 9:30 PM; now 8:50 PM and 9:35 PM), and then between those and the second PTN (originally 10:45 PM, now 10:50 PM). I don't understand why they don't just go back to the original schedule since this new schedule is essentially the same, with everything pushed back 5 minutes 🤷‍♂️

I agree. Starting on the 15, 30, 45 or 00 is a lot easier than the 05 increments. I wonder if it is something funky related to when CM clock in and when they can get to Fantasmic as that seems to be what is pushing everything off schedule.

I think they are still playing around with the schedule. When you are in the parks, you receive a notification with the timing of entertainment that night. As of yesterday, the notification still listed Fantasmic as starting at 9:00 and fireworks at 9:30.

Great observations. I honestly don't quite understand it, but it's likely related to crowd flow observations over the past few weeks. Also, 8:50 is likely slightly darker than 8:45 since it is June and it stays light out the latest of the entire year. I wonder if the 11:00 pm PTN might have gotten too much push back, as it is quite late even just the 15 minute difference.
