Disneyland 1/2 Marathon

Did anybody run the 1/2 Marathon today, 08/31/08.... My first 1/2, and had a great time.....Disney sure did a great job of putting it all together...The group I ran with, ran for Sprecial Olympics.

I only ran the 5k but my cousin ran the half. Great job. I will do the half next year.

I did it! It was my 5th half marathon this year and it was by far the funnest race I'd ever done. I am already planning on doing it again next year. I went with 3 very good friends and we had a blast. Our times weren't great, because we stopped for photos with EVERY character. Totally worth it.

I even managed to get a kiss from Peter Pan

I had a great time. Thanks to all of the volunteers and the organizers, sponsors, Disneyland and the city of Anaheim!

I really appreciated the spacing of the bands, cheerleaders, boyscouts, mariachi, polynesian dancers, etc. etc. There was always someone cheering so I had to keep running.

Congrats to the Emcee who proposed to his new fiance on stage. Congrats to all who tried, and to all who finished!

Oh, BTW - I stopped at the Disney Outlet Store in Vegas on the way home. I saw 2007 Disneyland Half Marathon pins for $2.99. If you ran the 2007 and wanted a pin, there ya go.

Also, thank you race officials for giving us such a nice finisher's medal. Very nice!

I was there as a spectator and cheering section for my friend who was running his first 1/2 marathon. He finished in 2:49 without any real training (he'd only run a max of 7 miles previously). I couldn't believe he made it, but it turned out to be pretty smooth for him and he wasn't nearly as exhausted as I would have expected afterward. We even went to the parks for a few hours! Wow!

I was at the start line for the marriage proposal, which was really great. Even brought a tear to my eye. What a terrific event. I got to wander off and enjoy the character breakfast at Storyteller's while my friend was out trying to kill himself running.

I couldn't believe that when I was waiting for my friend to cross the 3.5 mile mark, the first runner was coming through Downtown Disney to the finish! That guy had run the whole thing in something like 1:05. How is that possible?!!?

My friend is already signed up for the Goofy Challenge at WDW next January and wants to do this race again next year, so he can get the "Coast to Coast" medal.

There were some fast walkers in the race. I thought about that, too, then thought, "No, I fast walk 30 minutes on the treadmill and I'm ready to drop. 3 hours would be a bad idea!"

I totally got some of those pins when I was in Vegas last month. I already traded one of them on Sat.

I was there too, for the 3rd year in a row! I love that race and was so glad it wasnt anywhere near as hot as last year! it was a blast and i'll see all of you there next year!
