Disneyland 08 Trip

I'm thinking of maybe going to Disneyland in 2008. I've been, (or by then - would have been,) to WDW six times, so I think it's time I gave DL a turn.

I have several questions, and the DL site isn't all that great at navigating, and All Ears, while I like the restaurant section, the resort section is almost non-exsistant.

I was looking at the room rates at the DL resorts, and it seems like the cheapest room is $200 at it's lowest. Are the good neighbor hotels cheaper? I'd assume they are, but how is the transportation then?

After I figure all this out I'll deal with the restaurants.

Paradise Pier is the cheapest of the 3 hotels onsite at the DLR. So they may be around $200 or less a night. The Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian go for more a night. Of course this all depends on what time of year you go, sometimes they can have more reasonable prices, and of course during peak seasons they all may be more. In July we paid $275 a night at the Disneyland Hotel for example.

There are plenty of motels and hotels off site that have good rates. Some being VERY close, even closer then the onsite hotels. When they aren't close by in good walking distance they do have a shuttle system that can pick you up at your hotel and bring you to the resort. Some people have had good luck staying in these motels, us personally have not. Because of that we pay the extra money to stay onsite.

From what I gather restaurants at WDW resort are much better the DLR. So if your looking for dining options that are as good as WDW you may be disappointed. There are many nice places to eat in the parks, as well as DTD though. As well as around the parks offsite.
