Disney World's single biggest tourist market is.....New Jersey?

South Jersey Shore will be well represented in January. BIL running Marathon. Friends & family going to cheer him on.

GSP Exit 36 - Atlantic County -it's subs all the way except for shoobie transplants who call them Hoagies.

It's Subs here too on GSP exit 137 and Turnpike exit 9. It's also sprinkles- don't know where the jimmies came from.

For the past 40 someodd years, I've eaten subs and have always had sprinkles on my ice cream. The dividing line between subs/hoagies and sprinkles/jimmies has got to have something to do with whether you are a bennie or a shooby. :rotfl:

Okay we go "down the shore" and we call it hoagies and jimmies - lived here all for 50 yrs at exit 28 of the ACXwy.

Hi ladysoleil,

I'm originally from Newark and can relate to heros and subs. Now, we live in the southern half of The Garden State and people down here relate more to Phillie than NY, hence the tie to hoagies and (even though it's not Jersey born) "cheese steaks wit".

:cool1: Jersey ROCKS! :cool1:

:rotfl: I'm thinking the "hero" is a more North Jersey thing, you tend to hear more about the hoagie once you get to 609 country. ;)

And yes, you gotta get the cheese steak wit, even though we have to cross a state line to do it. I love Philly too, even though they're a little different. ;)

And who said Yuengling? Someone else who's been hanging out in Philly, I bet.

As I said before I'm from exit 114 on the GSP and grew up asking for jimmies but now I use the grown up word - sprinkles. I have always called a sub, a sub. :flower:

Another Central Jersey gal here--between exit 8A and 9. We're heading down to WDW on October 11. Our youngest DD is a WDW CM so we visit often. Just a little inside info here--at least two Jersey girls are 'close personal friends with' Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Ariel, Aurora etc. Jersey girls can do it all! :-)

Born in Montclair, spent summers exit 98 GSP. Moved to NYC 20 years ago because we bought a family business, but have always had a summer house "down the shore". Have spent every summer there, my kids (20 and 16) have spent their summers surfing, eating hoagies and kohrs orange and vanilla ice cream, going to the boardwalk (or Broad walk as some of my brooklyn friends say!) Will never go anywhere else for the summer. Jersey girl forever.

Southern Jersey (856) checking in here....
First, I have no idea what exit...everyone at Glassboro State (I did NOT attend Rowan :rotfl2: ) from No. Jersey used to ask that question and stumped all of us "locals"!
Second, I've never heard Taylor Pork Roll called Taylor ham...must be a Northern thing...
Third, Jimmies, not sprinkles - they always ask us if we're from NJ if we use that term out of state!
Fourth, Hoagies not subs...yummy!
Fifth, sorry, no wudder down here for me! On vacation many times, I have had people tell me, "You don't sound like you're from NJ..." They have no idea just how different North is from the South! :rotfl:

I agree...we should push for special "NJ Resident" Rates!!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Boost/Drink-A-Toast!!!!

Nothing better than an ice cold glass on a hot summer day!!!! :drinking1

Headed down the shore today. Going to be 80 out. Going to OC, hit the beach and than the boardwalk for some Mack and Manco and rides. :cool1:

I think the mental attitude of NJ is divided into 4 distinct sectors. NW, NE, SW and SE. Each wonderful on it's own, but very different! Someone who hails from Fortescue has a completely different mind set than someone born and bred in Upper Saddle River. Do you agree NJerseyans?

:cool1: :cool1: Ok I have done my part to support Disney this year!!! I leave in 3 days for my 3rd trip this year!!! I am up here in NW jersey and proud of it!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Hey Wendah-

I know you! My husband wants to know why you're not camping this weekend! He says it's still camping even if you're not allowed to have a campfire-well, not really.

We have our countdown calendar on the wall, waiting for December. I do hope we can get together.

You'll have to tell me sometime how you got the countdown ticker on your signature. I still can't figure that out.

Susan

Didn't know I'd meet up with you in cyberspace Susan! Tell your DH that he should be counting his lucky stars I wasn't camping this weekend -- we would have had a monsoon for sure :umbrella: :rolleyes1

Hi

My husband and I are originally from Brooklyn, NY but moved to Bergen County New Jersey when we got married in 1998. It was an adjustment, but we love NJ.

We also always meet people from NJ while in Disney World.

My husband recently bought a deli and named it "Brooklyn Boys Deli" - it's in NJ. I went to Disney World in May and stayed at Wilderness Lodge. I was travelling with my brother-in-law and his partner. My husband couldn't come since he was busy with the deli. While on the bus to the park one day we started talking to a family near us. Turns out not only are they from NJ, but from the town where my husband's deli is.

And we call them heros - not hoagies or subs. Maybe it is a Northern vs Southern NJ thing.

Noreen
