Disney World's single biggest tourist market is.....New Jersey?

I love NJ too. We are off exit 3 in Gloucester Township. We went to LTT in the MK in May. My wife and I laughed as they would call it. The smith family from NJ, The Jones family from NJ and so on. We must have heard 10 families called from NJ during our 20 minute wait. Actually everyone in the crowd was noticing it.

Forgot to mention..........

Jimmies
Hoagies
"Down the shore"
Cheese steak WIT!
pork roll and cheese (at any local diner) In my area we have a dozen or so greek owned diners. Most serve excellent fair 24 hours a day. Gotta love the 24 hour diners!

Why is gas cheaper in NJ than most other neighboring states? With the added overhead of the attendants. I would think we would be more expensive.

thats exactly the point.
some politicians want to change the law to enable us to
pump our own to save "us" money (meanwhile you can be sure
anytime a politician does something for "you" that you should get ready for a "doin")
like i said, i am fully capable of pumping my own but it is a more civilized wayt to do it, and it gives jobs to those who need them.
why shouldn't the gas companies pay for some one to pump the gas for us.
crooked as they are.
by the way, while we are on it.
why is gas so high?
dont give me the same old answer.
it does not cost anymore to take oil out of the ground (in fact it is probably cheaper with todays technology) than it did 10 or 20 years ago.
the oil industry is just bilking us.
i predicted gas would be below 2.50 by thanksgiving, and it looks like i am going to be right (when everyone swore i was crazy)
and it will be below $2 again.
and we will do just what they wanted us to do and say, arent we lucky to
pay "ONLY" 1.98 for a gal.
they win again.

sorry for losing my disney magic again.
back to disney planning

One more thing I forgot to mention that is exclusive (or was) to South Jersey.

"Panzarotti's"

Enough said!

If you never had one you can assume you have been passed over by the food gods! :rolleyes1

Bump that one

We go to WDW every year in August and stay at CBR.

And don't forget TASTYCAKES!

Exit 148!

I still say "down the shore" when we go to SoCal! I still say "sub" instead of hoagie. My accent shows up every time I visit the east coast (including WDW), or when I am talking to somebody from "back east". My accent is really big (my hair isn't!) when I get mad. Not angry---MAD! :rotfl2:

Last summer I went back for a hs graduation, and I ate my way through northern Jersey. It was worth the airline ticket!

Ah - a TRUE Jersey Girl!!! Funny how that accent comes out - when I get "mad" my husband (who's from the midwest) can't understand a word I say!!! :rotfl2:

Oh, and how I miss the food

Checkin' in from Morris County!

Seriously, I heard that something like 20% of Florida residents (excluding the Miami area) have Jersey roots.

There are so many transplants and snowbirds! Almost every family I know has a "Florida Outpost".
We have a family wedding in WDW coming up, and half of the guests are already down there!

:cheer2: ...NJ-NJ-NJ... :cheer2:

I'm just down 206 from you in Flanders (my older son goes to Mt. View) and we'll be there for Teachers' Convention week.

I'm a NYC transplant living in NJ for the last 12 years. Have gone from Flanders (Morris County Rt. 80) to N. Brunswick (Middlesex County Exit 9 off NJTpke) to Freehold (Monmouth County Rt. 9) to Old Bridge (Middlesex County Rt. 9) to Millstone (Monmouth County Rt. 33) to Flanders again. All this time, I worked in Roseland (Essex County Rt. 280); firm moved to W. Orange about 3 years ago. To be truthful, I have NEVER been down the shore in all these years (DH grew up in E. Brunswick and spent his entire young life there and doesn't seem to want to go back) but we're hoping to take the boys next summer.

My father taught me to pump my own gas the day I got my license. Moving to NJ guaranteed I'd never have to get out of the car again.

Psiprez, maybe we'll run into each other in the parking lot up at the International Trade Center when shopping at the Wal-Mart! I have a Honda Odyssey w/ a Sorcerer Mickey antenna topper and WDW license plate bracket. Give a shout if you see me.

Just got back from WDW last night, and we ran into so many other Jersey folks. Met someone from Ocean County at the ASMo pool, our CM at the store was from the Camden area, and the couple next to us on the Jungle Cruise was from Jersey.

Hi,

Panzarottis with pepperoni and Italian sausage rock! Whenever I go to my optician in Westmont, Camden County to get my glasses tightened, I go over to Franco's Place and get one. Yum!

I'm a true Jersey Girl (Piscataway) living in the Atlanta area. When I lived in NJ I went to Disney/Orlando at least four times a year. Now that I'm just 6.5 hours away I would have thought that I would be there 12 times a year. Not true. I still go four times a year. I'll be there for Thanksgiving Week. I do miss going Jersey week. I'm a teacher and the weeks do not coincide. Maybe next year I'll play hooky. :goodvibes

Hey what accent? :confused3 I sound normal. :teeth:

Sure do miss the food!!! :guilty:

From Central NJ, we have the slang and the accents from both north and south Jersey here!
We hear both hoagies and subs, jimmies and sprinkles.

I, myself say:
Hoagies
Sprinkles
Pork roll and cheese on a hard roll
"down the shore"

I also am unable to say "Long Island" properly (that is to say, without an accent!) It always comes out as "Lawn GUYland"!!

Going to FL during Jersey Week. Could not find any good rates when we booked from either Philly or Newark to Orlando. Got flight from Newark to Tampa (non-stop) for much less...

MK on Nov 11, Epcot Nov 12; see ya' there!!

Just returned from a week at WDW, and am feeling a little depressed. Now that I know about Jersey week, though, I'll start planning to go back as soon as DD is too big to cajole her way back into the stroller. She's 5 now, so I may have to wait until she's 7 to do the trick.

I'm in warren county nj..yeah jersey...we're big biz for disney world. I know how it is returning, depression does set in. Theres a cure, start planning
another!! :flower:

Just got back from Orlando (Oct 16-22) and when we were seated at Biergarten in Epcot (which has group seating for their buffet), we were seated with 3 other couples-- two of whom had previously lived in NJ! It was funny to travel 1000+ miles only to be seated with people who lived 40 min from us... :rotfl2:

Hi you guys!!!

I just found this post and it has me cracking up. I was born and raised in South Jersey for the first 30 years of my life. Garden State Parkway Exit 0! New Jersey will always be "home" for me.

I never even knew that there is a difference between north and south regarding the jimmies and hoagies/sprinkles and subs. To me they will always be jimmies and hoagies.

When we moved to Virginia Beach 9 years ago, a real hoagie was impossible to find and everytime I went home to NJ, I was sure to get one right away. Now that Wawa has moved here, you can get a decent hoagie.

I remember the first time we used the word jimmies here in Virginia. I can remember the confused look we got from the young kid. We had no idea that not everyone called them that! Now it is a joke between DH and I. We always say jimmies just to see the response. :)

As for pumping gas, I must admit, I prefer to pump my own. I find I get annoyed waiting for one gas attendant to work 4 pumps at a time. When you do it yourself, it is pump and go.

Some of the things I miss the most are:

Jerseys (tomatoes, of course!)
Shop Rite
Drakes Cakes

Thanks for sharing these memories.

I agree Jersey is a great place to live.

I'm the only one of my family who stayed behind on Staten Island. My mom is in Jersey and so is my sister.

Staten Island is good too.

But Jersey reminds me of how Staten Island was 30 years ago.

There is one thing very bad about Jersey though.

THOSE CRAZY PROPERTY TAXES. That is why I'm still in Staten Island.

Other than that I love the Jersey Shore during the summer. Nothing like it.

Jersey Girl here - first Jersey Week trip for us. We're leaving, by car 11.2! Can't wait!! Oldest DD is in 1st grade now, so off season trips will be few and far between now...Jersey Week here we come!

Sprinkles
Hoagies
"Down the Shore"
Becuz
traffic circles and jug handles...

Just had to check in!!!

Another Jersey Girl here!! We're Exit 2 off of the turnpike. We go to WDW once a year, but now that we've joined DVC, we hope to get down there more often!!!
