Am I in for a world of hurt? Little guy trained last week, still an occasional accident but we leave 2 weeks from tomorrow. I forget how long it was for my daughter before she was good 'out' if you KWIM. He's just 3 in April. I am thinking to get Huggies Pull-ups since they have Disney characters on them for the flight, not sure if this will send him back or not. My daughter did fine in pull-ups for long drives when she was first trained but obviously different kid.

Anyone thoughts/suggestions/good luck vibes welcomed! :cool1:

We're in the process of training our DD. I'd do the pull ups for sure! Still take him to the bathroom frequently but the pull ups will keep him dry in case he has an accident.

I say don't sweat it but come prepaired. We learned the hard way that it will cost you $60 to replace wet cothing in the parks. So bring a full change of clothes in a plastic bag (which will hold the wet cothes after a change) and keep wipes on you at al times. we got stuck on a ride for so loong that our little guy had an accident. You want to be sure and wipe the seat down if you need to.

I had planned on extra clothing for both of them anyway in the event of spills or water rides so that's OK. It's nice we won't be even close to the 1st people dealing with this in vacation!

We specifically planned to not train DD until we returned from the trip, but she had other plans. She potty trained herself a week or two before the trip. We kept her in pull-ups for the trip just in case and it was fine. She did not have an accident the entire week, although we did make several mad rushes to find a bathroom. We bought a fold up potty seat at Wal-mart to carry with us and use in the restrooms as she did not like to go on just a grown up seat. It worked great.

On our October trip, DS was 2 1/2. We were waiting to make the potty-training push til after vacation. He was #2 trained from just after age 2 and we did nakey-butt at home for #1, but he was no where near trained for out of the house.

In the car on the way to the airport he said, I have to go pee. Obviously there was no where to stop on the interstate and we told him. We get to the airport, check in and get through security and he says, I have to go pee. I take him in the bathroom, and he is completely dry (at this point it has been 3+ hours since we left home). He said, I don't pee in my diaper anymore. The entire week he told us every time and only had 1 accident. We did use pull ups the entire time. He has been completely trained since.

It was a bit of a pain to remember to take him before EVERY ride, show, fireworks, bus ride, etc. Sometimes we did forget and then would do the mad dash to the bathroom. Once, we stopped to see Peter Pan, and he was talking to him and all of a sudden my DS is doing the Potty Dance and told Peter he had too pee. Too cute. We were right outside the bathrooms at POC, so when we came back out Peter made a huge deal out of it. It was really cute.

It was a bit shocking since we were not expecting it and didn't even pack any underwear for him and just barely enough pullups. But it turned out fine and I always say boy Disney is magical, it even potty trained my kid!

Just prepare him for the automatic flushers. They can really freak some kids out!

I'd do pullups, especially on the plane. You never know how long you're going to be stuck in your seat, and there's always a line for the restroom.

we just started PT on 4/20...he's doing great with peeing, but pooping...argh, he just won't do it in the potty.....I started him off with nothing, then underwear..but got tired of cleaning those.....so I keep him in pull ups for now until he's totally trained. He has done well with them, only 2 accidents in a week (He turns three next tuesday) :)

He had his first public bathroom experience at Target one day and then Toys R us the next...he did great! The Toys R Us bathroom had the automatic flusher...and it kinda spooked him for a second, but realized what it did, and then almost got mad at it because he didn't get to flush it himself!!! Maybe find an auto flushing public toilet before your trip to practice with? Disney bathrooms can be scary when more than one flushes at the same time.

I'm trying not to make our first trip back to the parks a Potty Trip, but I am secretly worried about him not making it to the potty in time. For MY benefit, eventhough I've been to the parks a bazzillion times....I'll be sitting down with a map and circling every potty so i know which one is closest for him!!

i have to say he's been more frustrating than my oldest DD....with her all i had to do was say here is the potty, we pee and poop in it..and she did the rest! i never used pull ups with her or even had to remind her to go....each child is so different!

I wish you luck with your trip! i hope it's a positive expericence :)

Children often pick the most inconvenient time to potty train!!
We were going to wait until after our holiday but 6 weeks before my dd then just over 2 decided now was the time and she went from nappies to knickers in one day. I never used pull ups (personally can't stand them as essentially they are just nappies, but that is just me) and was a little scared about accidents but she did great. Lots of toilet breaks and a change of clothes. Definitely don't forget the post-it notes for the toilet flushers.

I would definitley do the pulll ups on the plane. If the seat belt sign is on it is not safe to get up. If there is turbulence it could be on the whole flight. Also the seat belt sign is on for a good 20 minutes before you safely get to the gate so this could be a messy mistake if you tell him just to hold it. It is better to be safe then sorry.:wizard:

Yeah, the plane is definitely a good idea for those reasons!

He actually kept a pull-up dry today when we wnet hiking and would be away from a potty for over an hour and I wasn't sure if he'd go outside or not. So, the parks might be OK as long as we go a lot. And we have my parents and IL's coming so lots of different people to take him!

DS has been trained since Jan but I still plan to put him in pull ups for the plane. Like others said you never know how long you might be stuck in your seat.

I just plan to take him to the bathroom ALL THE TIME. Just very frequently especially since I am sure he will be drinking lots of water.

Having a change of clothes with me at all times as well. I won't sweat if there is an accident as I am sure it would be far from the first time at WDW :)

Did this when our 5yo was 2. I put her in pullups (she did not know they were basically diapers0. They saved us when we had waited in a long line and were at the front. We had to get out of line at safari reide and group waited on me to take her to restroom. When we got home in put us back a few weeks because of the pll ups but we still had a great trip.

Yes, my youngest was newly trained when we went last year and I put him in pullups just in case. He stayed dry anyway and it did not set him back but it was just for peace of mind.
