Disney World with a Cancer Patient... What do I need to consider?

We are weighing many factors on whether we actually keep the trip at this point. I am looking for insights on what we need to factor in and consider when going to Disney with a cancer patient. Does anyone have experience in this arena have insights to share that might help us make our decision on whether to keep or cancel the trip?

I have a friend who lives in Orlando and we visit WDW close to a dozen times a year. Short trips, whenever I can get a cheap flight down from Michigan. Five years ago she was making her final plans because her cancer wasn't responding. She's come back from the brink since then.

This is my perspective. Go now. It won't be any easier to take that trip than it is right now; not for a long time. The smiles and magic that you will have on this trip will be a lot harder to come by the further along this process you go, but they stay with you even after the trip itself is over; you'll need them.

If he hasn't started any challenging treatments yet, go now while he has energy. Once treatment started, my DH basically hibernated. He didn't want to see any friends even. Just our immediate family. He was super careful about exposure to germs and besides, he was often tired. Chemo was exhausting. The first few weeks of radiation wasn't so bad...we still went out for lunch or dinner 1-2 times a week. The last bit was a lot more draining.

Definitely discuss with his doctors. DH's oncologist cleared him to go on a cruise a week after his treatments ended but unfortunately, the cruise we wanted was sold out by then. We did a nice family trip somewhere local.

Now all he wants to do is travel :) We even decided not to do a kitchen reno project so we have a bigger travel budget this year! I am typing this from a hotel room lol!

I should add we did do Disney between his two bouts with cancer (sadly his came back a few months later - but I think we zapped it good the second time!). Anyway, he was weaker but did really well with more breaks. Thankfully he was well enough not to need wheelchairs but I would not have hesitated to use one if he needed it.
