Does anybody know what the shipping charges are when you ship merchandise home form the stores within the park or downtown disney? If you have the breakdown by amount would be awesome.

I don't have a breakdown of the charges, but since I don't have to pay sales tax when shipping them home, it's basically free.

They just changed the shipping policies on 10/1. I know that up to $50 it is $8.95 (no tax if shipping out of the stat of FL) it goes up from there......$100-$150(I think) is $26.00. There are other increments, but I can't recall the amounts. The previous shipping policy was pretty good.....up to $99 for $10.95...and anthing over $100 was $15.95, but this all changed on 10/1.

Thanks for the info. I found their email and sent off a message will post here what they reply. I was just at Disneyland and the shipping charges were ridicoulous. They used to be pretty close to the tax savings, if that's no longer the case it would be cheaper just to bring an extra suitcase.

I alwasy ship home, no need to worry about things being damaged on the plane. If they're damaged in route from Disney, Disney will replace them. If they're damaged by the airline, oh well, sucks for you. I'd rather have a guarentee on the state of the souvenir.

Thanks for the info regarding shipping changes. I too will be eager to see what Disney replies as the new offical policy.

As others have stated, it used to be great. For instance, last year I bought one of those Cinderella Castle toys from the monorail line (the box is like a 2.5x1.5 foot rectangular box - pretty large) and for just a couple bucks more than I would have paid in tax anyway I got it UPS shipped to my door. Was a great value.

$26 for $100-150 seems awfully steep. I'm hoping for the best, as I was planning on shipping home a couple of large items on my next trip (more monorail playsets, LOL). But if it's going to cost me that much more, I may just say to heck with it and order them mail order some other time instead.

Hey Ned, it looks like we'll be down the same time, feel like splitting the shipping costs to the North East? The cost of gas between NY and CT can't be that much. ;)

I recently saw a post indcating that you can obtain large boxes at your resort's gift store and have the CMs pack and ship the purchases for either free or minimum cost...as long as the items were purchases within the WDW complex. I don't have the details but perhaps someone else does.

That's how I shipped it all last year. It was like $25 for about $700 worth or merchandise. To me the $25 was well worth the convience of it all.

While I haven't used this before, we probably will this year since we're flying. The convience plus the fact that you can relish your purchase while at the 'da World' until to leave I feel is worth it.

A few days ago I had sent a seperate request to WDW merch for a few items I was looking for, and my reply on Friday had the same chart of new fees. All I could say was wow...incredible. Those prices are REALLY high. And what's with the 20-days for ground shipping? Last I checked even economy ground UPS was listed as 5 business days.

It sounds like resort shipping might actually be charging actual UPS costs, instead of the pretty silly "dollar amount" based shipping. I mean, what if I decide to splurge (and eat ramen for a month when I get home, LOL) and buy one of those beautiful $200 snow globes I always look at. Thirty six bucks to ship it? That's insane, especially when buying things like Castle playsets, etc. for that same $200 would cost Disney much more to ship.

One time I just asked the resort gift shop for a big box and put all my items in it and shipped home to myself via fedex. I think that would be cheaper and faster.

Disneyland has the same rates and unfortunately didn't know what the change in rate was until they rang it all up. So ended up just paying the $76 dollar rate. I have been home over a week and still waiting for my package to arrive.
