We are flying in a few days before our cruise (April 30th) and purchased 2 day park hopper tickets for DW. Looking for the best way to get to the park from the airport and a clean hotel like a best western. Can anyone recommend a hotel that's walking or (free shuttle service to parks) for $50-$75 a night.

Do you think it's better to rent a car and drive or should we do a shuttle? What's cheaper?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :confused3

Have you tried calling the value resorts? We got a room there last December at AS Movies for 55 a night. :) You might want to check out the resort board. There is a thread about new codes coming out this week.

Keep in mind that the WDW parks are very spread out and there is no walking between parks and in most situations a person cannot walk from the hotel to any of the parks. Exceptions would be some deluxe properties and that would only be to a particular park (ie, Contemporary to Magic Kingdom, Boardwalk resorts to MGM and Epcot, but it's not a close walk, etc).

I would also look into a value resort and you could then use the Disney bus system. How many people are in your group? Personally, I'd spring for the extra $ and stay in a moderate, but if you don't want to spend the extra $ the vaue resorts would fit the bill. I've stayed at Pop Century 3 times and like it a lot.

Also factor in that if you stay on property and rent a car, that you won' t have to pay for parking at the parks. Renting for us was way cheaper than shuttles. And apparently if you rent with budget there is an office near the boat and they will drop you off and pick you up from the terminal, so you'll save the $10/day port charges. Even so, renting was $200 cheaper for us than taking shuttles. And we did everything on our schedule, not the buses. :-)

Stay on property if possible and rent a car from Budget or Alamo which both have sites by the port.

You simply drop off your car when you go to the port and pick up a new one when you get off the ship, very easy and much cheaper than other services. The other plus is you can get tp the port right when it opens. We arrived at 10:30, enjoyed the terminal and were on board before 12:00!!!

If you don't want to stay on site the Master's Inn had very nice rooms for $35 a night with a pool and shuttle to the parks.

National has awesome rates right now! Check out the transportation thread, codes on mousesavers. :moped:
