Disney World Credit Card Fraud has happened to me

Just out of curiosity, are these the new cards with the chip in them, or the regular cards that have a mag stripe, only?

I'd be interested in knowing that as well. It's starting to look from this thread like maybe Disney has a few "crooks" working for them!

We recently (last month) got new Disney Visa cards from Chase, and they still don't have the Visa contactless payment chip - just the stripe.

The theft does not have to occur at the front desk etc. The retailer has the right to store your credit card number to protect themselves. I am the administrator for the software we use in our retail stores and I can see every credit card number that has been used and is being used now in real time in any store sitting here many miles away some of our stores. I do mask the transactions so that most will not be able to figure out how they can see the CC numbers but it can be done by any employee in any store if they tried.
I could even get your CC number by using your name if you shopped in one of our stores :scared1:

We had our CCs that we used for our rooms copied during 2 WDW trips last year. During the process of cleaning up our account we were told by Chase that Wal-Mart and Raceway gas stations would be picking up the charge backs. The Chase rep told me that it doesn't cost Chase a penny. She said that Wal-Mart considers it the cost of doing business and that very few of the hundreds of thousands of CC fraud reports are investigated.

To some extent this true. What happens is the CC compsny sends us a letter asking for a copy of the reciept and we must reply by a certain date or the Charge back is permenant. I am not certain who takes the hit as there are a few (yes a few) in between banks and insurnace. I would guess more than likely it is covered by insurance which is why they do not care about fraud to some extent. But in eother way we all pay for fraud as they either buid the insurance premium or a bad debit account into what they charge the retail stores to take the CC. Of course it then gets passed along to the price we pay.

I had 2 charges for $500 each to a Google account follwing a WDW trip, but I certainly can't be sure that the theft occurred there. The numbers can be accessed by hacking computer systems either in places where you used them, or at the banks that issued the cards. If you have a card at all there is a possibility the number will be appropriated and used.

There was a story in this area about a guy who worked at a CVS and he let some friends come in and replace the regular credit card scanner with their own skimmer.

[Can you look on your Jan. Statement and see where you used the card? Perhaps if we find a common location we can provide that info to Disney.
Mine was used at the following:

SSR front desk
RESTAURANTOSAURUS
PLAZA ICE CREAM PAR
PINOCCHIO VILLAGE H

That was it, they grabbed my info at one of those 4 places.

In our case, it's really hard to say. We were on an extended 20th anniversary trip and used our card for everything: front desk at 4 different resorts - AKL, GF, BWV, SSR; a Disney cruise, outlet shopping, Kennedy Space Center, Publix, gas, off-site restaurants, on and on. We carry very little cash and pay the bill when we get home. But didn't another poster say they used their card at SSR? If so, that's 3 of us with SSR in common. Anyone else?
