Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

We are a little subdued today--got some less-than-wonderful news on the cancer front. Not going to let it spoil our trip, though. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the cruise!

Is there a Sunday meet in Seattle before the game?

So sorry to hear about the not so good news. Your positive attitude will go a long way. I am looking forward to seeing you on this great cruise and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I can completely understand. We had a pretty big medical scare last night. My father had what they call a "mini stroke". Hes' doing fine. Right now he is still in the hospital and they are running a lot of test to see what caused it. But the good thing is he already got the ok to travel and he's being positive. We are keeping your family in our thoughts!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I wasn't aware anyone was fighting cancer. So sorry.

I don't know if any meets in Seattle were planned. We're still planning to head to Pyramid after the game...

Oh no! I'm glad to hear he's been cleared to travel. I hope they can find a fixable cause.

Keeping everyone in my thoughts! See you guys soon.

Yours as well. Also remember, if there's help needed on the cruise, we are across the way.

I have a Canon T1i which I will be bringing. I just wish I'd had the $s for the lens I wanted (70-200mm) but I'll be bringing my trusty 24-70mm.

:rotfl2: I was looking to get the 60D, but just can't afford it right now. I got my Rebel XT a while back, it's only 8mp. I do have the nice 70-200IS 2.1fs lens from back then though, and a doubler. That is what I'm bringing. So when you see this guy with a super lens trying to get the stuff on shore from the boat, that prob me. ::yes:: I'll even have a tripod with me. :rotfl:

A tripod? I'm impressed! I don't think I've ever brought a tripod with me. I looked at the doubler, but my lenses aren't good enough. I've got a Tamron 18-270 that I LOVE, but it can't afford to lose 2 f-stops with a doubler. I'm also bringing my 70-300, but I honestly don't know how much I'll use it. It sort of makes it impossible to take a picture of anything anywhere close to you. The new camera will have the 18-135 STM lens that came in the kit I got. I just hope the rain is manageable. I'm paranoid enough about my cameras without having to worry about them getting wet! :rotfl:

As far as luggage goes... we've got 4 big(ish) suitcases and 2 carry-ons for the 2.5 of us. I guess we're in the over-packed boat! :rotfl2:

Oh my. :sad2: Praying for the best in both situations. Everyone travel safely and if any of you need help or someone to talk to, we have a good group of people cruising so do not hesitate to ask for assistance!

So sorry your families are struggling row :( hope the trip will be a much needed time of relaxation and getting-mind-off-ation :)

Okay guys, queen of the last minute here....;) just got our FE in the mail yesterday, and just finished gifts last night! I also made our door magnets, and shopped for some things we need on board yesterday. Today we are packaging gifts, cleaning, packing, etc!

2 more sleeps!!! (if we can sleep!)

Seems perfectly reasonable to me :thumbsup2

Thee has been no packing in this house except FE gifts... Maybe we should start get going on that :goodvibes

Just started myself. Got most of it done in an hour. We are still finishing off the FE gifts. Think I'll be doing them on the plane. Only thing I can't seem to find is my Beanie. I have a mickey one to keep my bald head warmer. Got the most important part, the trading pins, all packed and secure though!! :thumbsup2 Looks like I'll have 1 large bag, a backpack, and my camera bag.

I don't know how much I'll use the tripod, since we will be moving, but at the Fjorge and while we are close to shore it comes in hand sometimes, especially with the 70-200 x2. I do plan on using the 70-200 on the raft trip that I'm taking. It gets nice pics of eagles and bears and stuff at a safe distance.

My packing hasn't taken too long, but for some reason I keep packing everything DS owns, then forcing myself to scale back. DH keeps reminding me that he most likely won't need 4 shirts per day! :) but believe me, I am not skimping on diapers and wipes! I even have a backup plan of buying more in one of the ports if needed!

Good news! My dad is getting out of the hospital today. He can't wait to get home and get ready for the trip. :)

Great news!!

Hugs and good wishes, and know that we are just across the hall if he needs help on the trip. My daughter's certified in first aid, CPR and AED as part of her hospital volunteer work, and I keep aspirin in our first aid kit if he needs any extra. I hope he has a wonderful cruise, and not a spot of trouble for a good long time.

Tad late booking by us into Wonder sailing and hence no Port activities are booked by us? (we have a 2 and 6 year old with us and first dcl trip).

Are we too late now or can we book onboard?
My better-half is furious that I let the port activity window get closed.

Is it advisable to call tours operators and book now?

Any ideas folks?

If you know what you want to do, you will probably pay less if you book on your own.

You have a few choices. You can book excursions at the Port Adventures desk while onboard. You can book (call or online) excursions directly with the tour operators. Or you can wait until we arrive in port and book an excursion, in person, with a tour operator. :thumbsup2
