Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

The Disney Wonder just arrived in the Port of LA

Wow! Beautiful shot!

Yep, I sure miss her :)

Boy, that is nice. Can't guarantee that shot, those frequently gorgeous LA sunsets still have to cooperate...

Edit: Just finished the second round of culling photos, doing some cropping and exposure adjustments. Down 90%. Now I need to go through all the good pictures and cull them another 90%. That, for me, is always the hard part. Finding the 10% isn't that hard, but the 1%, now that's where I feel like I'm choosing a favorite child.

Who was in 2102? I absolutely LOVED the fabric that the FE was made of (floral Mickey, Tea Cups, and POTC).... Was wondering if the material was an old bedspread or something?

I am so glad you loved it, too! I especially loved the DLRR/Main St station with the sweet smiling MM at the top Did you turn it over and find HM? It was tough to select which ride vignettes to use.

The "new" fabric is originally from the Disneyland Hotel. I bought it on eBay around 3 years ago. In the DLH it was used for bedspreads and drapes before the recent interior reno. The FE was the first thing that seemed worthy of putting scissors to it!

On a similar note, we would also like to echo the gratitude of the others and give a hearty thank you for all the delightful FE gifts. They really helped make our sailing, and return to reality, even more magical. We are inspired for the next sailing, whenever that may be... :hourglass

Still looking for my steward, towel creature, and turn down chocolate

When our daughter was small, and getting her to talk was difficult, when she saw Splash Mountain, she dug her heels in and wouldn't let her stroller go forward, looking up at the boats and yelling "BOAT!!!!!! WANT BOAT!!!!!!!"

I'm feeling that way just now...

I had a feeling it might have been an old bedspread. I heard those were popular (showing up after the reno) but i had never seen a closeup of the print. No I didn't turn it over (I felt bad enough taking a photo of it!). Since you were just down the hall a bit, was your host Laurentiu? He made us a frog out of towels... Never seen that before! It was quite detailed. I noticed from your previous posts that you booked shortly before the cruise and traveled with your mom... Me too! (on both accounts, though also had DD17 with me). You may have seen us walking very slowly down the hallway (mom used a cane on the ship and a wheelchair in port. Hope you had fun! I'm quite missing the cruise

Yeah I think I know what you are saying. I think we are experiencing post fantastic cruise disorder, lol.

Thanks for the Star Wars origami vehicles! It was nice to have breakfast with you as well!

It was great having breakfast with you two as well!

:thanks:

I, too, would like to thank everyone for the wonderful FE gifts. They were all very creative and thoughtful. My daughter and I were like little kids, excited to see what was in our FE everytime we went back to our stateroom!

Thanks, too, to DizDays and MrHappy, for trading pins with me. I managed to get the complete new Dumbo set! I traded away most of my 'traders' so will have to get some more before my next Disney trip, whenever that may be.

I'm so sad to hear of the many issues everyone had during and after the cruise. We actually had the same issue as Chris931 did - smelly toilet that took a few days to resolve along with the apologetic chocolate covered strawberries and note. To my surprise, there was a spelling error in the note. That goes along with the errors in the Navigators. They really needed a proof reader!

Our drive back to the Seattle area was uneventful. Only 15 minutes or so at the border crossing. Except it took amost an hour to pick up the car. We did drive through Stanley Park and up to Grouse Mountain in Vancouver. Both beautiful!

Chris931 - My daughter and I were at table #77 late seating so had Fitzroy and Roman too! Roman was great! Were you the couple that Roman had multiple Cokes waiting for? Had we known you were DISBoarders we may have struck up a conversation with you. :wave2: However, we are not very outgoing :confused3

I really miss being on 'our' ship. I also really miss my daughter as we are now back in our separate states. Thanksfully, she'll be coming home for a week at Christmas. We're already starting to talk about our next cruise - possibly a 14-day Panama Canal crossing next year! :cool1:

More Fitzroy and Roman happy diners! :)

Okay you guys..... I literally can't stop obsessing over our next cruise. ;) we are narrowed down to either the may 20 L.A.-Vancouver, or sept Vancouver-L.A. I like the 7 nights better, and let's face it, I don't want to wait a full year.... But I like the price tag in sept better ;)

Anyone else planning for their next one?

Anyone else planning for their next one?

We booked October 12-19, 2013 out of Port Canaveral while we were on board. We booked connecting rooms with my parents. They are very excited about it. It's still so far away! I'm trying not to think about it. Time passes too quickly already without me wishing it to go faster :) We'll probably do a couple of days in Disney before the cruise.

Did you guys do a "dummy" booking on board to get the discount and OBC?

Exciting! That sounds fun!!

We did a dummy date while on board, so technically I am going by myself to the Bahamas next December...;) we are now trying to narrow it down to these 2. We may have talked some friends and my brother and SIL into it this time, too! They were all convinced it was just for kids. The unknowns for us are my dh's grad school schedule, and our pending adoption. But it will all work out! :)

So how is everything going with the adoption? Are you adopting a special needs child? My sister and I are both adopted and she is special needs. She has Fetal Alcohol Downs Syndrome. Just wondering.

Dumbocollector - Yes, that was us with the multiple cokes. That happened because my husband drinking Diet Coke like crazy and one night asked if he wanted yet another one and he said "You can never have too much Diet Coke." I ended up getting them too..
That is cool that you were next to us. We aren't outgoing either. We ask for a table alone. Just more comfortable that way.

We booked a dummy date for 12/13.. we probably won't go on another cruise til 2014.. :(

It is a slow process for sure! We adopted my DS through foster care in 2011, and he is special needs. We are now in the process of finishing our home study and licensing for foster-to-adopt again, but we have a little girl in mind that my DS lived with in a medically fragile group home before he was placed with us. So she does also have special needs. Since we are early in the process, we don't know for sure that we will get to adopt her, but if not, we will go through the foster care system still. It is a long, emotional process, but so worth it!

You left coasters have it good! Us mid-westerners are totally jealous! It takes just as long to get to one coast as the other.

We're thinking our next cruise will either be Canada/New England or the Med.

For sure! I want to soak up all the west coast cruises and hope they don't end! I was looking at one from Galveston, but it was going to cost $1,600 extra for us all to fly there and back! I thought for that much more, I could do Alaska again! ;) it was major sticker shock after just driving to and from the port this last time! At least with a L.A. To Vancouver, we only have to fly one way!

Wow! You can't beat that! While I would never go back, I miss living in Miami for two reasons (1) three hour drive to WDW and (2) walk on cruises. Actually, there are three reasons... (3) Florida Resident discounts. :)

The DH and I are planning on moving to central Florida for those very reasons. He wasn't too sure about my plan to move until he took his first DCL cruise last year. He's now officially hooked. One of my favorite cruise memories is sitting out on our veranda, on a sea day, and having him tell me that he "could see" moving to Florida. And later on that evening, sitting in Skyline, when he told our friends that it was "official", we were going to be moving. :woohoo:
