Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

So you were the room ears?!? I have to tell you, you could open a business onboard the ship. I had three different cabins want to know where our Stitch ears came from. One even wanted to buy them off of us!!! Of couse we told them "No way!" because those ears were just too cool!!! We were sure to bring them home with us. They will accompany us on every trip going forward!

Thanks for the pin trading and the friendship. It was great to run into you and Aimee so often. Felt more like a neighborhood than a cruiseship.

I'd like to also mention those awesome Stitch ears. My wife was so happy the first time she saw them!

OMG! Small world! Yes we LOVED Fitzroy and Roman! Especially Roman for us too! We actually saw Roman in all 3 ports! He rode the Mt Roberts Tram with us, and told someone that our DS was "his boy" ;) he kept offering to push the stroller, open doors for me, etc..l and I kept saying "you are finally on break! Take it!":)
I also saw him in Ketchikan while my DS and DH were in a shop, and he stopped and talked to me for about 15 minutes! Sweet, sweet guy, in love with life! He was just so happy to be in ports in Alaska for the first time! Both of them were really good with DS, and really understanding about his special needs.

How was the Mt Roberts Tram? I really wanted to do that but the weather was so dreary, we skipped it. Could you see anything from up there? What was there to do up there? I guess we probably should have just done it - Ryan would have loved the Tram ride regardless of the view. I guess this gives us something to plan for the next time :thumbsup2

Ok, so we got home form Vancouver last night. Things were great on the cruise. We had no complaints. We got off the ship on Monday, rented a car, and walked all over the Vancouver Zoo. It was an hour out of town, but the drive was very nice and we got to see a lot of the British Columbia countryside. Tuesday, things got terrible. At about 1030 am on Tuesday, we were in a car accident on the corner of Granville and King Edward road. Neither of us were injured, but it's scary as hell getting into an accident in a foreign country in your rental car. Lets just say I'm happy I have good insurance! So after dealing with that(it really out a damper on our morning), we just bought day passes for the sky train/busses/metro in Vancouver and saw the city that way. It was still a nice vacation, with just one ugly spot on it.

I know I forgot to put a song list on the CD's I gave out, I'll post one here in a day or two. It was great to meet everyone, we had a fantastic time! Also, the gifts in the FE were top notch!

Welcome home! So sorry about the accident! We noticed people seemed to be very poor drivers in Vancouver. I was happy to make it to the border without incident. I'm glad your insurance took care of everything.

:goodvibes We just emailed the group photo to everyone on the FE list. If you were not on that list and want a copy of the group photo please PM me your email.

It was great to meet everyone! We are now back home. Unfortunately, Tim had some trouble with his blood pressure on the ship, so we were kind of stuck in the cabin, but we wanted everyone to know we loved EVERYTHING in the fish extender, and really appreciated everyone's hard work on their FE gifts, and we were so glad to meet everyone!

Tim is feeling much better, and his cardiologist gave us a clean bill of health--I'm so sorry to hear of other adventures--flooded staterooms, car accidents, being stranded on a glacier--I'm so sorry so many of us had bad luck!

I thought I was the only one with issues and mishaps. :headache: Some of the issues we had were; the single seating at dinner, ignored by servers, food was bland and undercooked, food poisioning, and the flooding. I also missed the semi-formal dinner due to the misprint.
I do not regret this cruise. :sail: I met great people, enjoyed the FE exchange, and took all these mishaps as new experiences and oportunities to meet the general manager of guest relations, the executive baker chef, and even a good looking italian ship officer.

On another note I am glad to hear everyone got home safely. I am sure an Alaskan Angel was looking over all of us. :littleangel:

It was pretty! We did it first thing after breakfast, so it was before the clouds were too thick. At the top it was interesting, but not so much for kids to do. But he may enjoy the ride, and the eagle at the top!

Yeap, I had the ears. The wife thought they were ugly and cheap looking and no one would like them so she decided to add the bags of chocolate "so that they will have something good" :lmao: A few of them did not stick well on some doors, but it looked nice I thought.

As for the dining, I loved it. I was at an 8 top and there were 3 other couples. We got to know two of them so well I've already got Facebook requests from them. I also got a few from pin traders that I traded with.

One couple was the greatest. She used to work at Disney so know most stuff about the pin trading and he just got his first pin on board. :rotfl2: By the end he had over 100 pins. He was trading like a champ. He would come find me every day and say, look at these new ones I got! It was so fun. I'm going to DL in Oct so I'm going to meet him down there too. And it's funny that his girlfriend lives in my city.

I tried to find ears that went with the char that you said you liked. I picked kids over adults, and female over male. So you said that Jax liked Mickey so I thought that the Sorcerer Mickey was perfect. A few said Stitch, then Goofy and stuff like that. Then if it was an event I added a second one, so some got extra Birthday Hats. Then if you did not have anything, you got a Captains hat or an Alaska hat, or what I had left.

It was really fun making them and figure out who should get what. I did think the Stitch was really cute. If I had more time I would have added wool to the Alaska hats and sparkles to a few of the others, like the Mickey Sorcerer hat. All in all it was a great time.

Oh, thinking of upgrades... I was standing at the service desk trading pins and over heard another person wanting to talk to a manager because they had been moved to two rooms already and was upset. The first one was crap, literally. It had a plumbing problem and had stuff all over. They moved them to a new room and then the keys didn't work. They got new keys and they did not work either. They got upgraded to the presidents suite to make up for all the trouble and an escort to make sure everything was perfect.

Just thought I'd share.

Looking back, we did have a few mishaps. But, DCL fixed everything up and it ended up all right in the end.

We linked dining with two other parties, but one party wasn't assigned to our table and the head servers worked it out and got things set right.

The morning we had water coming through the ceiling they got it cleared right up. Our stateroom host showed up with the plumbers within a few minutes and by the time we came back from breakfast, it had been taken care of.

The last mishap was from the sticker that they gave me to wear on our excursion. We were to wear it on our "outermost garment". I must have heard her say this a dozen times, at least. So, I did. But, it was pouring down rain and the sticker got wet. When I tried to take it off, after we returned to the ship, the adhesive and some of the paper wouldn't come off my (brand new, bought just for this trip, rather expensive) jacket. After 45 minutes of trying to get the goo off, I walked down with it to guest services to see if they had anything that would remove it. They took the jacket and sent it to be dry cleaned (at no expense to me) and made sure I had it back in time to get off the ship at our next port. They even followed up twice with phone calls to make sure I was satisfied with the condition of the jacket and to make sure I got it on time.

So, while it wasn't a "perfect" trip. It was pretty darn great! :thumbsup2

We actually had a toilet issue in our stateroom. Nothing too terrible but it was leaking and had an odor for the first few days.

It took several attempts to get it all fixed and taken care of but we appreciated how responsive Disney was... and the next day, they delivered a plate of chocolate covered strawberries with a card from DCL apologizing for our difficulties.

On another topic, we loved the ears!! We had Stitch and loved how it looked. I have saved them for future cruises with the other magnets we received.

I'm so glad you said that! We thought so, too. And we're from Chicago and lived two decades in Miami - it doesn't get worse than that! LOL.

DH said "Everyone is so polite and nice in Canada, why doesn't that translate in their driving?"

It's true. By far the most frustrating part of our trip was the port in Vancouver. We were being picked up by my in laws. We had 5 bags and a stroller with DS, and we weren't allowed to take a luggage cart to where we could be picked up. We ended up walking forever with all the bags, up a HUGE hill, etc... I just remember thinking "welcome the heck to Canada.....I'm getting back on that ship!" :) we were so tired and annoyed we did nothing in BC (we can drive there any time if we really want to) and drove straight to the border. Then, got stuck in a line at the border for an hour, and watched the guy in front of us get arrested when they found drugs in his car! I was literally wracking my brain to think of ways to get back on the ship ;)

Momma2Jax - I started going through my 4000+ pictures today and found one that has you guys in it. It's at the sail away party and you're taking a picture of the boys. Would you like me to send it to you? PM me your email address.

Shirley - I found one of you also. It's at the BBQ on Tracy Arm an I was taking a picture of the guys grilling. You're walking with a plate of food. Let me know if you'd like me to send it to you.

I still have 3000 more to go through. :scared1:

Sure, thank you! Jax was having sensory meltdowns galore during the sail away, so who knows what we were doing... Haha!
