Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

April - what time are you getting to the port to try for an upgrade?

Based on advice from my Dreams TA, we're going to get there around 10:00. The port usually opens by then, so it should probably be early enough. I'm not trying for one of the rare super-upgrades (cat 1-3), and as others have noted, there are plenty of cabins available, so I'm trying to be hopeful that everything should work out. It's hard not to be anxious, though. :guilty:

But even if we stay in our current stateroom, we're still CRUISING TO ALASKA! :cool1:

So is your daughter looking at one of the advanced tech paths? or just looking at X-Ray for now? I know that in Canada, the first course is for X-Ray, then you do the specialties afterwards.

She's planning to get one of the more advanced certs later, but you start with X-ray in the US as well.

Mellers - you offer some great packing advice and normally I would embrace such a list. Sadly, this trip is not normal.

I am embarrassed at the amount of luggage sitting in my bedroom! Aside from the fact that I just have too much crap packed, I have a two days in Seattle where we have some family events planned where I need specific attire. Then after the cruise we are returning to California for a month for the adoption of a baby so I have to schlep a bunch of electronics and even some paperwork that I would not normally need on a cruise. (even my 10 year old has to bring her computer and a notebook... she is homeschooled and we need it in California and I am not shipping her Macbook) So all this together with 21 pounds of FE gifts... well I look like I am cruising around the world instead of just a week in Alaska. :rotfl2:

Does anyone else have two bags plus a carry on? Per person? Yikes!
(at least they are soft sided bags that collapse flat)

I sympathize--when my husband was relocating to Seattle, it was the same for us.

[/QUOTEWelcome Lynne! I haven't actually packed anything yet, but our walk-in closet looks like it exploded! I've got stuff hanging everywhere and big piles on the floor. I'm big on anti-wrinkle and hate ironing, so I wait to pack clothes until the night before. I figure we'll end up with 5 suitcases (plus 2 carry-ons) between the 3 of us. It's amazing how much more space warm clothes take up than summer clothes!

Congrats Mellers on your daughter! And Lesa on the baby! That is just so exciting!

Where is everyone staying in Seattle? We're at the Best Western Airport Executel and we get to Seattle Saturday morning.

Happy packing to all!
Jen, I usually don't have everything packed until the night before, just running ahead this time. I still have to put all shoes and battery chargers, etc. into my rolling carry-on suitcase. I am waiting till the last minute the night before to put DH suit and tux & my dresses into a garment bag to avoid wrinkles.

We will be staying at the Westin Seattle for 3 nights before the cruise, arriving Friday morning. Anyone else staying there? BTW...this is the first time I'm trying these quotes, if I got it wrong, you know why.

Lynne

Maybe someone could be kind enough to explain how I can get the quotes highlighted? See above post. Thanks :)

In the 10 cruises I have been on, all since becoming DVC member, we have never received a call pre-cruise. We just got the call too! So, I guess yours is coming!

I finally got "the call" from DVC. Joan was very nice.i wonder if there are that many DVCers or if Joan just calls a few per day.

Five days and counting!

Joan called me yesterday as well. We seem to cruise with Joan a lot.
Joan usually calls us when we are staying in DVC accommodations as well. It benefits her to stay in contact (we have added onto our DVC contracts 3 times since our initial purchase).

No problem! :thumbsup2

To qoute just one post, select the leftmost button (it says qoute). If you want to qoute multiple posts, select the middle button (page with qoutation marks and little plus sign) for each post you want to post except for the last post you want to qoute. For the last post, select the leftmost button.

Now if you want to edit a qoute like this:

See above post. Thanks :)

Just delete everything in the qoute you don't want. Be sure NOT to delete the qoute marks. They are the little [quote or [/qoute] things at each end of the post when you are typing. If that makes sense. :goodvibes

Just to illustrate what Cinderelley wrote, here's an example. To make the quote look like this:

Here's the text I want to quote.

the text you'll type will look like this:

If you want the person's name included, like this:

Welcome, Lynne!

I don't think I added another recommendation.... Last week when my dh's family was in town we played tourist. One day we went to the aquarium, rode the ferris wheel, and ate at The Crab Pot. All were right next to each other, and all were fantastic! The crab pot does the whole feast on the table, and you have a mallet to eat with, which DS thought was the best ever.

Now that I said that I do feel like I already said this... Hahaha FE gifts and packing have sucked my brain out!!

Oh, has anyone played around on the DCL website? It still looks like there are a lot of open cabins. Let's hope for an empty ship!

Yes! In fact they still still selling navigator verandahs GTY, and I've had my upgrade from that for ever!

Wow! I just checked on the 4B category (for grins since it's on deck 8). 8 rooms came up. I typed in a room that didn't come up and it gave it to me! There must be so many empty rooms! I can't imagine they'll sell anymore rooms. Who just up and decides to take a 7 night cruise to Alaska 5 days before it sails??? I'm really excited the ship will be quiet. Maybe lines for characters will be nice and short! ** fingers crossed **

:banana: One week from now we'll be sailing Tracy Arm!:banana:

Does anyone know what time Parrot Cay opens for lunch on Monday when we get on?

Today was my last day of work!! We leave Friday for Seattle. Can't wait!!!!

Parrot Cay will be open when we board. A cast member will direct you to either deck 9 for either BBB or fast food, or to Parrot Cay :thumbsup2

Is Parrot Cay a buffet set up for lunch too or is it a table service?

Lunch will be buffet, same as BBB. The difference is that you will have a server get your drinks for you, help with special requests, and it is all inside!!

Thanks! That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if I was remembering correctly. :thumbsup2

Thank you everyone for help with the quotes. Haven't had a chance to use them yet, but at least know what to do. Thanks also for the kind words of welcome. I do think we will have an amazing cruise. Disney & Alaska-great combination! Safe travels to everyone until we meet onboard!

BUT, the weather is looking a little better (per weatherunderground)

Seattle
Monday
Clear. High of 72F. Winds less than 5 mph.

Skagway
Thursday
Mostly cloudy. High of 52F. Winds from the South at 5 to 10 mph.

Juneau
Friday
Mostly cloudy. High of 57F. Winds from the SSE at 5 to 10 mph

Ketchikan
Saturday
Clear. High of 57F. Winds less than 5 mph.

I'll take "mostly cloudy" over rain any day!! Either way, it'll sure beat the 100 degrees it's been here!

Edit to add something else I need to not get excited about - the Aurora forecast for the Juneau day is "Moderate" and shows the band almost touching Juneau (all the other days are "Low"). Maybe we can see some Northern Lights!
