Disney Wonder September 3, 2012. Seattle to Vancouver 7 night Alaska Cruise!

The DH and I are planning on moving to central Florida for those very reasons. He wasn't too sure about my plan to move until he took his first DCL cruise last year. He's now officially hooked. One of my favorite cruise memories is sitting out on our veranda, on a sea day, and having him tell me that he "could see" moving to Florida. And later on that evening, sitting in Skyline, when he told our friends that it was "official", we were going to be moving. :woohoo:

Central Florida is a much smarter choice. Take my advice... stay away from Miami. :)

The plan is to move some time after April of 2015. Our youngest will be 18 then. A lot depends on the housing market. The price on housing has dropped so much here, that we now owe more than the house is worth. So, we're kind of stuck until we can get (at least) what we owe on it. I don't want to deal with renting it out, if we are going to be on the opposite side of the country. :crazy2: The good news is that the housing market here is starting to recover very very very slowly. So, maybe in three years, we'll be back to being right-side-up. :thumbsup2

Did anyone see that there was a 5.5 earthquake in Alaska today? It was on the west side of the state quite a ways from where we were, but still interesting.

Oh wow! My parents are currently cruising in glacier bay...I wonder if it will affect the roughness of the water or anything?

The last time I went to Alaska (1998 cruise), I went to a really interesting visitor center in Valdez which focused on the history of seismic activity in Alaska. As a person who has lived in California all my life, I was a bit surprised to hear about another US state that has more frequent (and much higher magnitude) earthquakes. In 1964 there was a 9.2 earthquake.... so scary! So it was very educational. :) Here is a site I found with some interesting stats: http://www.aeic.alaska.edu/. Based on a chart on the 'overview' page, it looks like the state has had at least one earthquake of 5.5 or greater every year for the last 40 years. If we had one of those every year, we'd be a mess!

It is SO not the end! We made too many great friends and had too much fun for it to be the end. This is just a pause. :)
