Live from the Disney Wonder... Deck 5 - April 23rd at 1:30pm (Vacation Standard Time)!

We are sailing around the Bahamas on Monday doing our day at sea. Last evening there was a medical emergency aboard and the Captain made the decision to return to Port Canaveral. Our new schedule is Monday at sea, Tuesday at Nassau, and Wednesday at Castaway.

Kudos should be given to the entire crew of the Disney Wonder for making the change in schedule such a great experience. Everything was moved around to ensure that no one missed out on a thing. Everyone from the Captain and CD Darren down to the housekeeping team have been wonderful.

More updates upon our return to Port!

I think I saw a post where Incognito is on that sailing - she will probably have a report too - so DISNEY like to make it happen in a GOOD WAY so that all can continue to ENJOY !

Count me in too, hoping that everything went smoothly for those involved with the medical emergency.

my DD and family are on the MAGIC this week and of course I am just "constantly" thinking of what they "might be doing right now" :rolleyes1

yes, we are sailing with Incognito... we were at dinner together when Captain John made the announcement that we were back at Port Canaveral.

We are in Nassau today... beautiful weather!!!! Looking forward to Palo's tonight and then Castaway tomorrow!!

Thats so nice. Disney sure does excel in guest services.
We are going on the 10th of May. :cheer2: Do you remember what movies were playing in the theater?

:cheer2:

In the Buena Vista Theater...

Wild Hogs
Meet the Robinsons
Bridge to Terabithia

We are on our way back to Port Canaveral. Tomorrow... reality returns.. THAT SUCKS!

Going to return on the Wonder in September for Cruise #4. Gonna miss this ship til then.

This was our first cruise ever and despite the turn around it was wonderful.

Lisa and I were standing on our verandah commenting on the fact that we should not be seeing lights on our side of the ship if we were headed south. Several minutes later the captain came on the loudspeaker letting everyone know what was going on.

Within 30 minutes of the announcement we received a message and a hand written note from Palo re-scheduling our brunch for the next morning! I was totally amazed and awed that the cruise staff could pull off that event with such little notice.

Within 2 hours of the announcement there was a completely new navigator under our doors, with a full listing of events for our new day at sea. Announcements were made about the staff working through the night to re-schedule shore excursions.

On Monday we went to brunch and by the time we got back to our stateroom there were messages and a hand written note about the fate of our dolphin excursion. Unfortunately they had difficulty re-scheduling everyone and had much fewer slots available. By the time Lisa and I got the note and messages there were no more slots available, so we had to pass on this wonderful excursion opportunity.

It worked out well, having the day at sea first gave us a full day to just rest and relax. Then Nassau and then Castaway Cay. It was actually a really nice itinerary.

All in all it was a fantastic cruise, and I hope all is well with the family involved with the medical emergency.

We were on the same cruise.

We watched from our verandah a fire truck and ambulance come onto the pier. We were on Deck 5 Aft. They headed to Forward so we couldn't see any more. It was amazing how smooth it all went. And yes as Linda said, a new Navigator was done in only a few hours. Our minds though couldn't release the thoughts of the situation and the individuals involved. We all said a silent prayer and wished all involved the best.
:sad1:

During our AT SEA day the next day, Captain John was up on Deck 10 and greeted us. We thanked him and his crew for a brilliant job the night before... heading back with such care and ease. He said unfortunately these things happen and due to the severe nature of the situation, it was the only choice. I didn't pry any further than that as to why or what happened. It wasn't appropriate but shook his hand and said our thoughts and prayers to all involved. He smiled.

(Of course before he walked away he and DD5 got a photo op!)
:flower3:

Later in the cruise we heard various "rumors" of what happened... medical issues, etc. But since we didn't have facts, we'll leave it at that. Again, our thoughts with the family/friends and all who were involved. And hats off to the entire CREW of the WONDER! :thumbsup2

Hey CNC, we were on Deck 5 aft as well... 5626.... where were you at?

Kevin

WE WERE IN #5622!!!!

We had the Pittsburgh Steeler GOLD AND BLACK Mickey Heads hanging from black and gold ribbon on our door! (note to self: MAGNETIC Door Signs next time!!!)

We were the ones running around the cruise with our DD5 - Maddie Rose - the one with the long long long curly curly curly blonde hair! She's small in size but big in character!

Wasn't it amazing how well the DCL Crew did in taking care of things after returning to Port on the first night?!?!!?!? SIMPLY AMAZING! My DH and I are sitting here now figuring out details for a FAMILY REUNION CRUISE next Sprin 08!!!!

I'll try and get a TRIP REPORT out soon! Tomorrow heading to photo store to get prints, photos onto CDS etc! This way I'll have some pics to post with the report! (Do you know how to upload Video clips? I have a few that other DIS-ers might like to see!!!):cool2:
