Sitting in snowy New Jersey reading my cruise documents that just arrived in the mail.

Hello from Bob and Amy - We will be sailing with you on this cruise. Last cruise was NYC to Puerto Rico. Much longer drive to the start of this cruise.

Hello Bob and Amy - Donna and Mike here watching the sun warm it up for the first time in a week here in MN. Yesterday on the way to work, 15 below with a wind chill of 27 below. Day before was a bit worse because of a strong wind. Wished we had stayed in Fla after our Christmas WDW trip and waited for the ship :hourglass We will not be late for this cruise since we are on the 3 night prior to this cruise. :yay:

Just wanted to say hi from fellow Minnesotans that will be cruising with you. Stay warm!

Greetings Dugette, we are in the Minnetonka area. Work had me up in Crookston and out in Wheaton this week, I am still trying to warm up. Don't talk up Aulani on the ship - wife wants to go pretty bad but I have no interest, you will just be giving her ammunition.

I know it's a little early for setting up the Fish Extender group (generally 6-8 months out is good to get things going), but here's a little info I've put together for anyone interested in setting up a group here on DISboards:
SETTING UP A FE GROUP
There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone will step up and say “I’ll maintain the list”. This means they maintain the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

The easiest, most private way to handle the information necessary to prepare the list (many people prefer not to put sensitive information on a public forum), is to use the “Conversation” feature here. There needs to be at least two people to start a conversation. Only the starter of the conversation (usually the organizer) can add additional people into the conversation (as long as they do NOT select “Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others” at the bottom of the reply window). Then when new people express a desire to join, usually by just saying “we want to join the FE”, the organizer can add them by clicking on the “Invite more” button in the “Conversation Participants” window (lower right of conversation page). Only those people participating in the conversation can see what’s posted there, and respond there. I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibly, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other “biggie” is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how to find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this: http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

Hope that helps.
Hi! Will you be emailing us all of the group info? Now that the holidays are done I'm excited to start making my gifts :).

Wife (TiggerPU88) and I will be going on this -- our first "alone" cruise, or for that matter, vacation since our son was born 15+ years old.
He and I are "Gold" and this will be my wife's first cruise at "Platinum". She does the FExtenders and loves the Cove Cafe, while I pursue the unusual and interesting (kitchen tour, back stairway, "Princess" walks, early morning logistics at CCay). Let me know if we can help in any way.

We have done (or not done in many cases) Nassau many times and we love Castaway Cay. Mostly we love the exceptional service, attention to details and many "plusses" that DCL offers. We are planning a 2nd Wonder cruise later this summer to Alaska which will be a big treat too.

This time, we are flying into MCO the pm before and staying at a nearby Marriott property. Because it's only two of us this time, and no other travel is expected, we are doing the DCL Transfers from/to MCO. ($70 r/t each).

Hey, everybody, we'll all be on the Wonder ONE MONTH FROM TODAY! :cool1: party: :sail:

@MPS516 - We live on the east side of the cities, but DH commuted to Minnetonka for 10 years (thankfully works from home now). Aulani is amazing - it actually reminds me a bit of a Disney cruise, you know, without the boat. It just has a great feel to it and even the anti-Disney people in our family that joined us last time had a great time and want to go back. FWIW, we've gone twice only because we've caught ridiculous airfare from MSP to HNL - $70 first class in 2014 (Delta price glitch) and $390-ish last time (fare war). And then renting DVC points at Aulani made it do-able. But I'll stop talking about it in case your wife sees this. :rotfl: Stay warm! :cold:

Greetings Convert and TiggesPu88,

DW and I are also traveling kiddies. We did Alaska a few years ago and had a great time. DW is a Cove Café frequent flyer as well. We're staying 2 days prior at Boardwalk and then catching the 3 Night cruise just prior to this one.

Wow any Delta deal is a real find, don't see many from MSP. We try to fly most personal trips on points and have to catch the early and late flights to get the lowest point totals. We sure miss Republic, I know, they are ancient history. Hard to believe that I would even miss Northwest.

Yep, we usually try to fly on points too, whenever possible. But no way could I pass up those $70 fares - and the best part is that was for First Class! Never thought my purchase would go through, as it was clearly an error, but it did and Delta honored their mistake. I'm sure that will never happen again for me, though, haha. After that crazy luck of stumbling upon those fares, I took some advice and set up fare alerts to places we'd like to go - that's how we caught that second deal (which I learned later was United trying to attack Delta's hubs, I guess - we flew United that trip). We're actually flying Sun Country to MCO this time, since they had the lowest fares for our dates and we are saving up our points for flights to France (hopefully 2018), so didn't want to use them this trip. Well, and DH's work is paying his fare, as he's attending a conference in Orlando starting the day after the cruise.

The best way to fly is always on the Company's dime, especially if you get the points. We too do Sun Country on occasion, just hard to get to free flight after 5 or whatever that number is.

My husband and I are cruising on Feb 12 Wonder with our grand daughter who is 5. I know we are late in the process. Is it too late to join the FE group? Its our first Disney Cruise and our grand daughters first of any Disney trips. I am so excited!!

Welcome friends. This is the thread for the Wonder 2/12/17 Cruise. This Will be our first cruise. It will be myself (30), my wife(27), my daughter(5) and my sister (26). We are celebrating my daughters 5th birthday on the cruise. Her birthday is on the 15th. I believe we will be in Nassau that day.
We are all very excited. we would like to get a fish extender gift exchange going. Since this is our first cruise if there is someone who could help with this thread, that has been on a cruise and has participated in a gift exchange, I would greatly appreciate it. We are looking forward to making some new friends.

I know we are late getting in. Can we be included in fish extender exchange? Two adults one 5 year old child

Good evening!
I do apologize however due to the short notice our group is no longer open. I sent the final list in January 2nd. I hope everyone has a great time on the cruise and hope you take advantage of the other experience they have to offer. (pillowcase at the front desk and the pin trading)

If you do end up putting up a Fish Extender anyway, feel free to message me with your cabin number...I have extras of a couple small things that your granddaughter may like. Happy cruising! :goodvibes
