Disney Wonder crossing the Panama Canal, Aug 26, 2016

So I WAS going to take a spring trip to WDW, but no, my gallbladder wanted to come out instead :(

We purchased our tickets to San Diego! Yay!!
We figured that it would be best to purchase now before all the prices start going up for flights (Southwest Airlines).

Yay!

Well I got an email with your posting, Amunet, but it was asking about flight pricing. I'm guessing you figured it out and edited your post! Congratulations on getting your flights booked!

Yes, I figured the prices prior to labor day will only rise. We had credit with Southwest from my surprise surgery cancelling our trip. So we used that :)

Me again. :)

I have more questions, please.

Does Disney have any excursions in Port Canavarel? You know, the kind where they pack up your luggage into a bus, take you wandering around town and then take you to the airport? Our flight doesn't leave until 6pm, so we're trying to figure out how to spend our day. Hopefully without fighting our luggage the whole time!

DCL does not have anything like this. You could always rent a car for the day but it can take a couple hours to get to the car rental place to pick up the car and then it takes over an hour to drive to the airport.

Somewhere on the internet it was mentioned that you could get a day pay for the Hyatt Airport, has anyone done that?

I have never heard of this.

I've read through several threads and got the impression that if you have early dining, that means you also have early breakfast on disembarkation day. Can anyone tell me what time that is? And how long can you hang around if you go to the buffet instead?

Thanks!

Yes, if you have early dining you will have early breakfast, which is 6:30 I believe. Second breakfast is 8-8:15. They try to get everybody off the ship between 9-9:30.

Oh, one more question, sorry. Does anyone know what the procedure is for getting a wheelchair for getting off the ship? I assume the process for getting one to get onboard is about the same as the other cruise lines, and I've cruised on both Holland America and Carnival out of San Diego before. But the procedure for getting off seems to be a little different for each line.

Thanks again!

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to this either.

Oh no! I'm sorry you had to have surgery and as a result cancel your trip. That's the pits :(

but congratulations on booking your flights! :cool1:

Thank you :) Yeah, I'm still reeling from it. Came home on Sunday and all of our bags still are packed and such. Kind of sad. SO we shall be using our tickets for after the cruise! That's good.

We only have the flight to San Diego booked for now, since returning is after labor day, the flights should have a sale on them soon.

Oh oh! AND I'm like a week or two away from paying in full! THAT is uber exciting :goodvibes
I know PIF date isn't until later, but I like having it done. You know?

Hello all I just found this board! My family of 4, 2 sons, Me (37) DW (3?), A (13) E (9), have booked this about a year and a half in advance so it nice to see the days tick down as we are supper excited to see the canal. I was on a different board but that one is DEAD! no one really on it. AZrose is on it. I will talk to my wife about the FE sounds kind of neat!

Welcome! Our level of activity fluctuates :) But I'm sure that will change now that PIF date is in just a month!!!!!

And we are back from our Easter vacation. We had an awesome time at WDW and got to do quite a few new things. Now it's time to start serious planning for this trip! :thumbsup2

Karin, safe travels and have a fabulous trip!!! :)

Exciting about the Italy trip as well!

Thank you! We were so lucky. Met a few awsome friends, did a tour and several other "events", ate around WS at F&G and all in all enjoyed life! And only 41 days until we go back to Italy. :woohoo:

If you have early dining your breakfast on the last day is pretty early. I think it is 6.30. You for sure can go to the buffet instead.

Sorry, that's something I really know nothing about.

I am so sorry to hear that! Hoping you are feeling MUCH better now.

Congratulation on purchasing your flights! We did so too, I bought right on the day Southwest opened up booking and last I checked the prices had gone up already. :scared1:

I am going to pay off the cruise next week. Once it is all paid off it feels so much more real and exciting.

:welcome:to our cruise meet thread!
I am very happy you found us.
It looks like we have been counting down about the same time. ;)
Let me know if you want to join the FE. It is great fun for both kids AND adults. :goodvibes

One of my wife's coworkers and family is also going with us. They are a family of 4.

That's awesome!

Thanks dizneat for the worm welcome! Is it just me or is any one else shocked on how much the price of this cruise has gone up! When we booked until now the cost of an inside room has gone up over $700 pp!!! That is insane! This will be my family's first time on DCL and hope we will like it but man with the price that DCL charges I doubt we will be back. The friends we are going with has been a I think 3 other Disney cruises.

We are no longer "shocked" - you get used to it after a while. :rotfl2:But you are completely right. In some cruise offers the price hike is unbelieveable. For our Med cruise we booked at opening day and it was EXPENSIVE, but price went up about 4000$ (for the two of us) until we sailed. Very happy not to have to pay the price they had come up with in the end.

Well, let me tell you something - DCL can become addictive. They are an awesome cruise line and the service is really outstanding.
The only way to lock in a "lower" price is to book on opening day or shortly thereafter. AND, if you book your next cruise on board they will give you 10% off your next cruise fare and a stateroom credit, depending on the length of the cruise.

I only wanted to sail with them once in a lifetime in 2009 - here we are in 2016. We were hooked by day 2 and rebooked. Let us know if you have any more questions. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry, that must have been sad :( glad you're seeing the silver lining though :) How are you feeling?

I booked our outbound tickets as well, decided to fly into Orange County and drive down to San Diego, it's much cheaper for us even with the rental car.

Glad you had a fabulous time Karin :) it's always hard to come back from vacation but with another one close on the horizon it helps that sting. What tour did you do?

It was pretty crowded, but it was very enjoyable even with the crowds.
And you are perfectly right, knowing that we are going to Italy in just 38 days helps with post Disney blues. ;)

We had a lot of things planned - a kitchen sink with friends, a late night at the MK with other friends, the Gardens of the World Tour, which is only offered during F&G, a Starwars Dessert Party, an Illuminations Dessert party, and an Easter Brunch at the Wave. Quite some things for just 8 days at WDW. :woohoo:

It was an awesome 10 days. :goodvibes
Gardens of the World is only offered during F&G and I had to call three times until someone could finally find it in the system. :lmao:We really enjoyed it, as they pointed out some very obvious but easily overlooked details of F&G and we went all around WS exploring before the crowds fell in. Got a neat pin and the festival poster as a present as well. Would I recommend it - YES!!
The dessert party and fireworks at the Studios were breathtaking. We cannot wait to do them again in the summer! :thumbsup2
