We are going to Disney the first week of May with our 6 1/2 year old and our new little boy who will be 7 months at the time.

We go to Disney about every year so we don't plan to go nuts trying to do everything, and our little guy is very portable and will sleep in his stroller with no problem. We also know about the baby stations and baby swap for rides.

What else do I need to think about to have an enjoyable trip with our little guy?

Is the water okay for formula, or should we plan to bring our own?

What rides can we take him on?

Are there baby changing tables in the Men's room? My husband hates feeding baby food to our little guy (because he thinks that it is messy and gross) so we have a nice deal where he changes all poopy diapers while he is home and I don't ask him to feed jar food. It occurred to me though that not all places have changing tables in Men's bathrooms! Not a big deal, but I was just curious!

Anything else I need to remember to bring to the parks to make things easier besides formula, jar food, diapers/wipes and a change of clothes?

Any other tips or tricks that you have?

I have taken my DD to Disney when she was 13 months old and 15 months old. We had a great time it was just a lot slower and different from we were used to .

I have a thing with changing tables anyway so if I don't have a disater of a poopy diaper I change her in a quiet corner right in her stroller.

Just remember the baby stations are not always the most convenient only 1 per park and you are absolutely not allowed to bring your stroller into the building (Be prepared) The cast members at each station were really rude about this I forgot about it and actually got yelled at to get it out NOW!!

Plan on napping in the stroller. there is so much going on in the rooms it was hard for her to nap in there.

Make sure you have a great sun shade.

They actually sell fans in the park that you can attach to the stroller but I was not comfortable having the air blow directly on her so we did not get one so I can't advise you on that one.

If you are bringing your own stroller or using a park one bring a tie of some sort to tie onto the handle for easy identification for you and for others!!

I would use bottled water for the formula. On these pages there are a lot of references that say you can order from Costco and have a case delivered to your room for around $7.00

Take tons of pictures!! Pre purchase the Disney Photopass CD so you can all be in the pictures and save over $25

Remember If you are thirsty and hot he probably is too. Bring a lite receiving blanket for the times going form the Hot air to overly cold AC. great for us not so good for them.

I would not overplan too much as you will be on his schedule not yours anyway.

Make sure you get him his first Mickey ears:earsboy:

Hope some of this helps just stop and enjoy yourselves:wizard:

I will be taking my 7 mo old in a couple of weeks and here is what I'm taking:

- baby backpack (like a baby bjorn, but mine's the Meijer version...) - read somewhere on here that a person put their little kiddo in theirs for the family rides so they didn't have to worry about holding baby on like Peter Pan - stole the idea :thumbsup2 )
- jar food
- cereal
- formula
- blanket
- stroller
- baby water (it was on sale)
- chair (summer seat - like a bumbo but better, but we're also driving)
- medicines (tylenol, teething tabs)
-swim diapers and swim suit

I think that's it, but you may want to consulte the ultimate packing list on Mousesavers. www.mousesavers.com/UltimatePackingList.doc

I think I'm going down before you, so if I think of anything else that I forgot or added, I'll pass it on! :flower3:

I'm going with my 11 month old in a week. One thing that helped us was to make a list of all the stuff that's going down but not coming back -

diapers
wipes
formula
disposable bibs
disposable placemats
bottle liners
baby food
snack food
ziploc bags

We then stuck all this in a box and shipped it UPS to our hotel. It's cheaper than bringing a suitcase for it, it doesn't need room on the way home, and it's one less thing I need to lug through the airport.

If your flying pack and extra shirt for you and Dh in your carry one...spit up/vomit etc...
Bottled water for formula. i had one of those plastic containers that hold the measured out powder if you don't have one get it. I think advent has them and sassy. You can find them at Target/Walmart?babies R us. We took our DD at 6 months old just for a weekend. We had a great time.Enjoy

All mens rooms have changing tables.

I spent a blissful poopy diaper free week during our trip!!

Rides - pretty much everything but the obvious roller coasters/big rides. My 9 mo old loved Small World. He fell asleep on lots of the dark ones.

Have a great trip.

I dont see how someone could ride any ride with the baby backpack on esp with baby inside of it. Most rides I would imagine it would be in the way of the rider actually sitting flush with the seat back and prohibiting the safety bar to go across your lap. Has anyone else ever seen this work?

Personally I wouldnt carry the water into the park for the formula. I would just take the bottle and the premeasured formula then add water. But Ihe type of mommy that doesnt mind just adding warm tap water.

Take advantage of the "Parent Switch" (or swap) that is available on most rides. This is where one parent stays back with the baby while the other parent rides with older kids. Tell the line attendant you'd like to do the parent swap and he will give you a special ticket (we found that we ALL had to go to the entrance of the line so the attendant could see the child and parent who would be waiting and hand them the ticket.) When the ride is done, the waiting parent gets to go on the ride THROUGH THE FAST PASS lane!!! And the waiting parent gets to bring TWO other people with him/her.

Couple this with fast passes and your DD6 will ride all the great rides at least twice with virtually no wait!

1. The idea behind the backpack IS NOT for rides with lap supports... I used Peter Pan off the top of my head as it was the first I thought of... think of the rides that don't require that... Small World, Pirates, etc. It's obviously not safe to place baby OVER a restraint.

2. Orlando tapwater isn't the same as tapwater from home. By changing to whatever water is around, some babies can react to the change, and who wants a grumpy, upset-tummy baby?? It's a judgement call, but I'm taking the water DD is used to.

Great list, just want to add my formula suggestion to it please. If baby is using powdered formula, instead of taking the can or full bottles of it, pre-measure scoops into either ziplock bags or the breast feeding storage bags to save space. They do sell pre-measured cased but those cost about $11 for a case of about 12 and are only in 4 oz sizes.

I've taken 2 trips with our kids when they were 6 months old- I must tell you- it was a lot easier than when they were 2 1/2! :rotfl:
All the above advice is great! I'll add that I took the pre-measured powdered formula and added water.. however, be aware, that most places only have cold water. I would ask at a counter service place or even some sit downs and they only had cold water... so, they'd give me some clean water from the coffee pots and I'd mix a little with the cold water and it turned out warm. I also brought a whole bunch of bottles- I did like to boil my bottles at home and couldn't do that at Disney, so I brought a ton of bottles with me.
DD at that age was a very scheduled baby- and we were not on schedule at WDW- so she didn't eat well at all for a few days of the trip.
Have fun!
