Disney with a Southern Twist- Tomber 11.11.11 UPDATE: BLOGGED & LIFE!! 1/24!

I never thought about trying ebay for the buttons, do they give those out free at the parks still? I don't want to risk it I probably will have to buy some too:rolleyes1 Keeping my fingers crossed for the job for ya girl :)

Haha, yes, I am an ebay stalker! I have been looking for those buttons forever!!
There are a few threads on here- basically they do give them away at the parks for free- but they are discontinuing the "Just Married" buttons and are opting for the "Happy Ever After" buttons. So some resorts and parks still have them- but I think they are just phasing them out, and over time they will be gone. So I got them just in case, since they probably won't have them by the time I get there in November!

Thanks for the fingers crossed on my job!! :yay:

Those are adorable!!

And good find on those buttons!! I'll be checking ebay now until the time I find one for those just married ones. I can't believe they aren't giving them out anymore :(

I have enjoyed reading and looking at all your fun ideas! Love the plates and your table card ideas! Look forward to reading more :)

Well Kristilyn we shall battle for the buttons, let the best ebay stalker win :rotfl: lol, just kidding. Great find though sw33t_angel :)

So I have been thinking about some decor ideas- and I think I am pretty set with the ideas I have found so far!

I saw this in a previous PJ of a fellow DIS-Bride, and I love the idea of the split levels of the cake (or in my case cupcakes) and putting various Disney stuff around the levels. (probably going to use my Mickey & Minnie Vinylmations from a fellow DIS bride ;))

Along with trying to find a snow globe for the cake/cupcake table, I am also thinking of picking up a wooden sign like this as well:

I am going to find a display stand to put our Mickey Wedding ears either at the cake table or the sweetheart table. But obviously have them the same height, because that would drive my OCD crazy!

For the tables along with my framed table names-I am going to have some sort of simple flower arrangement and a few candles. My venue already has glass mirror squares, and the hurricane glasses, so I can work with what they already have. My two ideas are kinda one in the same- just a little different. I will have to pick up some supplies and mess around with them this weekend!

This I am thinking make these "kissing balls" out of carnations, and just make simple white cutouts for the ears- so the head will be flowers, and then maybe like card stock as the ears? And just have it resting on the hurricane glasses.

Or make the "kissing balls" like the other, but then instead of white card stock cutouts for the ears, add an additional two smaller "kissing balls" as the ears? Same idea of having it rest on the hurricane glasses.

Or you can also make "kissing balls" out of ribbon. I found a tutorial here

I am also going to be doing a sand ceremony- but have been having trouble finding a container for the sand. So then I stumbled across this idea

I LOVE this! That way it can be easily displayed, and you can have the engagement picture in for the ceremony, and then eventually change it to a wedding picture! I know some sets I have seen are REALLY expensive, but I have been looking at DIY, and you can do with a shadow box frame and some other frames by Umbra, which are on Amazon.

Also I have been looking at some toasting flutes. I really like these two but need to get DF's opinion!

I also found these on where else but ebay :goodvibes They aren't really the traditional toasting flutes, but I just thought they were so unique!!

Whew!! Just had to get those ideas out there! :rolleyes1

Wowzers girl! First I love the "A dream is a wish.." you found! I NEEED it! =] Also check out Hallmark, they have a lot of Disney quote stuff!

Second, LOOVE the kiss ball ideas! I'd do it with the lil kiss balls for ears and the ribbon is different I kinda like it? And you can use them in your house afterwards too as long as you choose a color in your decor? Send them tutorials my way friend! =]

Third, toasting flutes are adorable! Did you ever think of possibly finding yourself a really nice set of plane flutes & getting them custom engraved or etching them yourself with simple little Mickey heads around the top part of the glass?? =]
Just some ideas for you to munch on! I do LOVE the idea of you displaying your hats at the reception. I never even thought of that!

Wow! I love your ideas! The mickey heads are so cute! And I love the idea of displaying them at the reception!!

Great ideas! I love the decorating, that part is my favorite :) I adore those wooden signs that you've come across, where did you find those? You have so many good ideas!

You have been a busy little disney bee! Where do I start .......I LOVE EVERYTHING! Such a cute idea about having the disney ears on the sweetheart table. Your signs are so cute, I love the vintage look to them. The kissing balls are very nice. I love your idea for your sand ceremony we are doing one too, but I ended up breaking down and buying one. I love the castle themed flutes the best :thumbsup2

Haha.. I NEED that sign too! Found it on a random google search- so I will need to investigate that further! I will def check by Hallmark more often- I went in there a few times, but they didn't seem to have as much Disney stuff as I remembered.

I am falling in love with the ribbon kissing balls idea... looks really simple, and hello? I could include my colors in the ribbons AND maybe throw in some mickey ribbon in there! And I do like adding the extra two additional balls at the top for the ears!

I showed the flutes to DF last night and he actually like the Cinderella coach ones the best- so at least we are getting somewhere! Haha... I am way to much of a perfectionist to do my own etching.. I think it would drive me crazy! :)

Hahaha.. I paid $50 for those ears.... they are going to be EVERYWHERE! :lmao:

Thank you!! :goodvibes

Haha I love the decorating too.. I just have to remember that I can't include every single one of my ideas... haha so I have been trying to limit that!

I just did a random google image search for the wooden signs " Happily Ever After Sign" and I saw that Target, Kohls, Home Goods and a few other stores seem to carry them. I am thinking Michaels, AC Moore might have them too. I am going to all those places this weekend, so I will let you know!

Thank you!! Although I can't take all the credit! DIS boards are my saving grace... and google searches! :woohoo:

Haha Disney Bee... I love it!!:rotfl2: Thank you!!

Like I told Jenifer, those ears are going to earn their keep! :)

Yeah DF wasn't too keen on the sand ceremony- but I showed him the picture frame idea, and he said he liked that MUCH better! So yay!

I liked the castle ones too, but he said he liked the coach ones the best... so that was a shocker too!

Your decor ideas are wonderful! I'm partial to ribbon topiaries myself ... I made a Mickey one for our reception at Ariel's later this year:

Thank you! :goodvibes I got the original idea from Mikkel here on the DIS ... she had made flower ones, and kindly sent me her instructions. I attached the two smaller styrofoam balls to the larger one (hot glue! :thumbsup2 ) and then used a sturdy wooden dowel for the base. I punched the hole with the dowel first and then hot glued the dowel as I put it in to make it extra secure and then wrapped it in ribbon. I secured the ribbon with glue dots.

The rest of it was pretty much like the tutorial you found, but I used smaller lengths of ribbon (maybe 2"-3") to give more control over the design, and 3-4 pins per loop. Only using one allows the ribbon to shift and move. And more pins allow you to position the ribbon so it covers more of the styrofoam. I seriously used hundreds of straight pins, LOL! But I'm really happy with the way it turned out. :)

Those are super cute! I can't really tell from the picture, how tall are they? Where did you put them to decorate?

Thank you! The whole deal top-to-bottom measures about 18" ... 11" of the dowel shows, but it's probably about 4" longer inside the styrofoam ball. We're planning to put it on our guest book table, and our guest book will be a Vinylmation Mickey. :)

Off topic for weddings- but...

THE STEELERS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!

I am so excited about this! They have been my team since I was like 1 day old- thanks to my Dad :cheer2:

Cool thing about it is that they went to the SuperBowl and won the year my brother got married- so I think its time for history to repeat itself :goodvibes

Nice to have a fellow Steelers fan on here! I am super psyched, this is the 3rd time they have gone since I have been with DF. They are his fav team too so we always make a big ta-doo about it. We have matching jerseys and do the face tattoos and it is always loads of fun. I will be cheering them on from this coast. ;) I def think history will repeat!

Out shopping this weekend- we stopped by Wal-Mart, and they had their V-Day stuff out already, and I came across this cute little pair!

mickeywal.jpg

Would be cute for a sweetheart table, or cake table? Or even for ring bearers, and flower girls?

They were $10, but here's hoping they still have them after V-Day for 50% off :rolleyes1

I hope to try on some dresses in MB this weekend and maybe try another store around here.

I have another job interview tomorrow, so I hope I get SOMETHING! :P

Also, I found the "Just Married" Buttons on ebay as a set for 99 cents! As well as the seller was selling the "Just Engaged" and "Happy Anniversary" buttons as a set as well. They did combined shipping, so I just got them all- just in case Disney decides to change or get rid of them as well! That's what I told myself anyways! :rotfl: I had to stay up until 2 am last night to make sure no one out-bid me! :surfweb:

I am going to use the "Just Engaged" buttons for some of our e-pics!

That's about it on the wedding front! Need to try to call a DJ back, and see if we can get a price quote! And we have ONE more groomsman to go!

Love the Mickey and Minnie, super cute. As far as the buttons, if you need anything like that I can get some from DL and mail them to you. The only thing is I think they say Disneyland not Walt Disney World, but if you get in dire straights, I can mail them to you. ;)

I also wanted to mention that I am terribly sorry you didn't get the job you were hoping for. Times are hard and it can get frustrating, but don't give up hope. After I left Disney a few months back, I took some time to myself and then started looking and even though I feel I interview really well, jobs aren't coming through. I think it simply means it isn't meant to be. The right job will come along ;)
