I miss youuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!:hug::hug: I wish I had a job where gchat was easily accessible... haha another reason I am looking back into teaching again... :lmao:

So a much delayed post in the works is here!! :)

I am settling into the new job- just trying to get used to the commute, which is about an hour each way.... :confused3 but at least I am getting good hours and at least one weekend day per week! I think I am going to start looking for school jobs hardcore.... I think I will definitely go with a lower grade this time!!

SO two weekends ago my mother and I went to Hobby Lobby, which included 3 hours of goodness, followed by a minor cake vs. cupcakes meltdown :rolleyes1

I was going back and forth on the idea of the cupcakes- but I was toying with the idea of exactly how to make them- and how to display them. I wanted them in a tier originally, but then thinking about the height, I was worried they really wouldn't be displayed very well visually... So then my mom suggested splitting the tiers... which I liked that idea, but the boxes we were looking at- we weren't sure would fit 100+ cupcakes. (we were literally set up in the aisle trying to measure out how many cupcakes would fit with some empty cupcake wrappers... it was a sight to see! :lmao:)

Then I was debating whether to do a cake and just say forget the cupcakes, but I was hesitant, because the cake I wanted- no one was willing to do, which is the Mickey Wave Cake. SO then I called my Dad who knows a bakery manager- and well he said he would do it!!

SO long story short- we are still going with the cupcakes. I am going to make little Mickey Picks and have them put them in the cupcakes. (OR maybe have them make the ears or the full mickey heads..... we are going to have them do all the versions and I will see which ones I like better)

We are going to display them split tiered using these hat boxes in various sizes (we bought two more different sizes to stack in a tier to display the wedding cake we are going to have to cut for the cake cutting ceremony)

We are going to have a 3 in cake round made in the Mickey Wave pattern design and use that with our topper and for the cake cutting.

SO basically I am getting a little bit of both things that I wanted! And they are going to make special red velvet just for me! :goodvibes

I was going to use the frame for my sand ceremony- but curses on Amazon- because it was backordered forever- and then went discontinued before they shipped it to me... so I was on the hunt for another frame with a slit on the top for the sand. So then I came across this art glass block! It is the perfect size, and has an opening on the top! We are going to use this for our sand ceremony! It was only $6!

We bought some cellophane bags and teal ribbon to wrap the shot glass favors.

FINALLY! We went to Ross last week and my mom came across this beautiful tea pot and matching tea cups and saucers that look very antique and bridal! (I collect tea pots- so this was just a HUGE plus)- so my mom bought it for my bridal shower, and she suggested an idea of a bridal shower tea party!! :goodvibes So that is in the works! I will get a picture of them the next time I go home since my mom has them! :)

Sorry for the long winded update!! I miss everyone!! Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!!! :woohoo:

Yay for you! I miss you mucho my sister from another mister! ;D

Everything sounds fabulous.. I can't wait to see what your cake is going to look like! I must see tons of picture of the final product!! <3 Good thing we can text each other otherwise I'd be lost without you! hehe.

I'm kinda jealous of the tea party bridal shower! But I'm having no part what-so-ever planning my shower so I just have to poke and hope my mom and MOH do a good job! hehe.

I'll have to try and update sometime tonight! I have LOTS to update with! <3 <3 <3

Love the updates! I think it's great that you're getting the cake that you wanted as well as the cupcakes. They're going to look so cute!

Your tea party idea is going to be so much fun! A part of me reallllllly wants to be planning a theme for my bridal shower, but my MOH is making it all a surprise so I'm not involved. I'm sure it will be good though. She wanted to make it a complete surprise and not even tell me what day it was going to be, but I keep going on vacation or deciding to make trips to summer so eventually she told me the date to make sure I would be home :rotfl:

Love the updates!! Can't wait to see the cake!!!!

And the tea party will be so much fun!!

I love it all, wedding twin!!! :goodvibes

And I'm so glad you get both the wedding cake and cupcakes decorated with Mickeys! How awesome. :) Can't wait to see more updates!

First of all...
I love those cupcakes, very cute!
Second...
I also want a tea party. Do you think you will have a 'alice' theme? I love how some disbrides incorporated their wonderland ideas into their party... (=

Yeah I am so excited!! I had never even really considered it, it was all my mom!! :D LOL... I am totally the same way... I like surprises.. but I love to plan everything, and usually giving the reins to someone else gives me some anxiety.. but I have learned to be a little more laid back! :lmao:

Love the updates!! Can't wait to see the cake!!!!

Much thanks girly!! :goodvibes

I am not sure what kind of tea party it will be!! Alice would be a fun theme for sure!!

Wow everything looks great! And a tea party bridal shower, you know I love that idea:rolleyes1 I guess great minds think alike:). Will you all be dressing up as well in old school tea party attire? It's so cool to see all your friends dress up and play along. It's just and all around fun time you will have a blast. Looking forward to seeing pics:thumbsup2

So I have been trying to work on somewhat of a normalcy routine or schedule of some sorts so I can still incorporate everything I want to do into a daily process- which NEEDS to include DIS boards... and wedding planning. Can you tell what my priorities are? :rolleyes1

Work is going well- I still loathe the commute.. but what can you do? I am getting to know my co-workers better, and am learning the aspects of the job more and more each day and am feeling more comfortable and confident. I am still going to get my stuff together and start getting my name out into the teaching world again, I am hoping for maybe 2nd or 3rd grade. Contracts tend to go out in April and May so I want to go ahead and make sure everything I have is up to date and ready! I am going to check out some more local schools, and hopefully maybe score a teaching gig for next fall.

The procrastination has already begun on the wedding front (even though I swore I was going to be a good bride! :headache:) My goal was to get my STDs out by the end of March.... and well here is APRIL 7th, and I am no where near having them ready!! I am still waiting on DF's mom to come up with exactly how many people she plans on inviting... our make-shift guest list is sitting at 128 right now.. Ideally I would like to be at 100 or less, which for a big chunk of the list, I know most won't be able to attend- but still going to send them invites anyways.

I have the STDs designed- I just need to get a rough count so I can print them (and see how much ink and paper I am going to need) and find some envelopes and stamps... I debated on having my design made into a postcard- but they are still kind of pricey for my liking... THEN I debated on not even sending out a STD since most of the people already know the date anyways- but I feel like it is my bridal obligation to send them? :sad2: Plus- it is the best way I know to get our wedding website and all the details out there too!

ANYWAYS ENOUGH ABOUT THAT! :)

On a positive note.. well actually two..

ONE- I am off today which is super nice and the weather is great!! Also you can tell by my onslaught take-over of posts on the main board, that I am indeed off.. and procrastinating..

TWO- I finally saw Tangled!!! You girls are right! I LOVED IT!! I haven't been this giddy about a Disney movie in a while..

So onto the wedding stuff! :lmao:

As you know we are having all groomsman- so the tuxes are kind of important since they will need to really carry the black and teal color theme. Also being that there will be 8 guys up there, there needs to be a distinct difference between the groom and the man of honor. So I have been playing around with some different color combos and ideas I found an awesome website with a tool called the Build-A-Tux which was incredibly helpful and was nice to see the ideas I had in my head.

This is what I came up with so far:

GROOMSMAN- Still with the black and teal- but more emphasis on the black and just a hint of teal.

tux5.jpg

MAN OF HONOR- Same color palette, but mixing up the colors and making him all teal and no black other than the tux.

tux4.jpg

GROOM- Sort of combining the two and making him black and teal. I had the idea of putting DF in a bow tie instead of the traditional tie so that he stands out just a little more. But would it look silly to have all regular ties and only one bow-tie? Here is both.

tux3.jpg
tux2.jpg

For their Boutonnieres I am going to more than likely just do a single white carnation-with a hidden mickey in the center?

Also- as far as tuxes go- what should I have my Dad wear? Should he match the groomsman tuxes? Or should he stand out too? I was thinking just a classic tux white and black and a teal carnation?

Great ideas for the tuxes. I don't think having DF wearing a now tie looks silly at all. I like your ideas for the color coordination between the guys. One good thing about the father tuxes is they don't have to match GMs and groom at all. With our dads I asked them what they wanted and they picked out the style they wanted and then asked what are voles were so they could coordinate then in their own way. The GMs are wearing purple vests and ties and Df is wearing silver vest and tie. They are all wearing black shirts. Whereas the fathers one is wearing classic black and white suite and the other is wearing silver vest and black and silver tie. So they match without marching you know? I recommend doing what we did and let the dads know what your colors are and letting them pick what makes them comfy:)

I love the tuxes! And I LOVE how the black and teal look together! I don't think a bow tie would look silly either. Maybe ask Thomas and see if he prefers one over the other? As for dad, I agree with Vicki, let him choose what he likes, but if he doesn't care I think the classic look would be good. I asked my dad and he said he would rather wear his suit than a tux, and I have no problem with that. It's a black suit anyway, so it's really close to a tux but still different.

Okay, so totally going to play with that site now! ;P But I like the first option for Thomas. I like the longer jacket!

I was debating the same thing with my father! But I think we're going to do a charcoal gray suit for him with our accent colors.. or to match whatever my mother will be wearing! =]

As far the bout's go.. sounds fabulous! =] Can even add some ribbon.. or for Thomas one big carnation with 2 little ones about and VOILA hidden Mickey!

Thanks Vicki!! :) I think we are actually going to go with all bowties!! I like the way they are looking together and to me they are just so much more formal... like how often do you get to wear a bowtie!??

Thanks Becky!!! :goodvibes My Dad apparently already has a really nice tux with a bowtie- so that solves that problem!

Good call with the hidden Mickey... think I will definitely be talking to my florist.. :rolleyes1

Have any fun playing with the tuxedo maker thingy?

Love the tux's!! The colors look fabulous together!

Thank you Thank you!! :)
