We are seasoned Disney veterans who have just had our first baby! We can't wait to take him to the happiest place on earth and are considering a trip in October, when he will be 8 months old.

We are not sure what we will be able to do with him. Can we take him on quiet rides, like Pooh and Peter Pan? What is the best way to transport him (stroller, sling, etc.)? Any other tips, tricks, or warnings from parents who have been there?

Please share your experiences!

we took our dd at 6.5 months and it was great! as pp said, any ride that doesn't have a height restriction is fair game. the great thing at the age (assuming your little one is not yet walking) is that they are so content to sit in their stroller and just look around! we brought our bjorn but she really just didn't like being in it so we used her stroller primarily and while waiting in lines etc dh carried her. (i have back issues - i'm not a lazy/uncaring mommy!)

just take your time and watch his cues for what he is enjoying or when he needs a rest. dd rested right in her stroller so we skipped a few attractions but it was no big deal. (we also go regularly so we don't stress about missing anything. we'll just do it next time!) :)

go and have a great time!!! and take tons of pics! you'll be amazed at how much your lo has grown the next time you go! :)

Ditto from PPers. We took our 9 month old and she had a great time. Loved Winnie, Peter Pan and the characters.

Have fun.

P.S. The Stroller was the best for our group.

We are going in May with our infant, who will be 8.5 months old, and will be riding all the rides that don't have height restrictions as well as baby swapping on some of the ones that do.

There are lots and lots of things to do with an 8 month old. That was the youngest age we ever took one of ours and he did great. Plus, all that fresh air and sunshine and activity...naps came easily to him in the stroller so he really kept a pretty good schedule, certainly better than the 3 and 4 year olds we had with us!

We went several years ago with a 9 month old and 2 1/2 y.o. We had a great time! We had our stroller that laid back flat for her naps. We also used a Baby Bjorn carrier which was especially great on the rides. It kept her close and snuggled against me and I could enjoy the ride.

I also think you will enjoy the slower pace that you must take with a baby. It's a "stop and smell the roses" type of stroll through WDW. Enjoy!

we've taken our little guy twice, once at 6mos and once at 11 mos... both times were great... he did better than the big kids (i had a 12yo boy sleeping in a double disney stroller!)... the first time was "easier" because he would stay in his stroller... second time he was hankering to get out and about (he was walking)...

take advantage of the baby care centers... slow down for sit down meals... take a few breaks... and drink lots of water!

we took our ds last year at 8months it was so much fun. We are going in April and he is almost 16 months and I am dreading this trip a bit because he is a bit moody but figure it will be fun.

Thanks for all the info. we are going in June, first trip for our grandsons (2yo and 8 mo) Their parents and us are trying to plan a very flexible vacation.

As the time gets closer, and your baby grows and you get to know him better you'll know more about how it'll work, too.

My guy HATES his stroller so we mostly carried him (in a Babyhawk) but used the stroller to car the backpack and for naps. And you'll know if you can push things a little bit or really stick to his schedule, things like that.

But I say go. It'll be great!! I'll never forget my guy seeing Mickey for the first time!

We took a 7-month old last fall, and he went on Pirates of Caribbean, It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Muppet 3-D, Indiana Jones Stunt Show, Toy Story Mania, Kiliminjaro Safari, Tough to be a Bug, Finding Nemo Show, Lion King Show, Ellen's Energy Adventure, Maelstrom, China Movie.

The only one that was any kind of a problem was Toy Story Mania because of the way the car twirls somewhat roughly from one scene to the next. He didn't like that. And, of course, holding him, I got a lousy score. :)

We took our 8 month old DD on Buzz Lightyear, The Great Movie Ride, TTA, Spaceship Earth, the Safari (which she slept through!) & Festival of the Lion King. We would have taken her on more rides, but she came down with an ear infection the day we left so we kept a pretty quiet schedule that week.

Your little one will enjoy all of the sights and sounds at that age! We bought a Peg Perego P3 with our Disney trip in mind and we're so glad we did. DD loved her stroller and we loved that she could nap comfortably in it whenever the mood struck (which was often with the ear infection and medications). We brought our Ergo, but didn't use it since she was so happy in her stroller.
