Disney wants Seaworld, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove?

I wonder what this does for all of us who just bought 2 year platinum passes that gets us into Busch Gardens, Water country, Sea World, Aquatica, etc.?
Anybody have thoughts on this?:confused3

There's a lot of rumors of what will happen to the parks, everything from the Busch family along with some investors keeping the park to Blackstone who's also half owner of Universal.Disney has also been mentioned but people don't seem to take it seriously and don't think Disney would get involved. In my opinion I don't see how Disney wouldn't be interested or at least give some consideration to Sea World,Aquatica and especially Discovery Cove. All I want is the parks to keep the same quality that they've always had and I'm including Busch Gardens in Tampa and Virginia and the other Sea World parks in Texas and California.I don't want Disney to buy the 3 Orlando parks and have a lousy company buy the Tampa and Williamsburg parks and turn them into Six Flags.I also have the Platinum pass but my contract is long expired as I keep my pass active paying it monthly with the EZ Pay program at the 2003 rates of $12 a month, which is awesome for what I get.

The problem is that some of the parks, including Texas, are only open seasonally. If Disney purchased the San antonio SeaWorld, it would give them a foothold here, but they would have to be able to operate profitably year 'round. San Antonio is a good tourist/convention destination, but I really don't know if they could operate the park all year.

There is some "wasted space" in our SeaWorld, that could be reporposed as a DVC/Disney resort destination, but they would need more than SeaWorld, the Six Flags here is nothing to brag about, and there really isn't room to put a large Disney destination theme park near SeaWorld. Plus we can get some severe weather occasionally, like ice sorms or severe thunderstorms from hurricanes.

The only reason Texas has SeaWorld is because it was built uder the ownership of HBJ, who was going to move their corporate offices here. Shortly after SeaWorld opened, HBJ split and the parks were sold to Busch.

I really really don't want Disney to but the sea world parks. If they buy the parks they will raise the ticket prices up more then $75. And we do the ez pay which i know Disney doesn't do. plus that all Disney cares about right now is money.:furious: They are becoming more greedier by the year which is sad because i can only go to Disney by helping out with the cancer race they do every year. i get a free ticket for each day and that's about it. I have a sea world/aquatica pass. I'm able to go there whenever i want but if Disney buys it they will double the cost.

I can't help thinking that if the bankers/creditors of InBev think this buyout of Busch Brewing is such a wise investment, why do they want the parks sold off immediately to help service the debt? I mean, if the investment is sound, they should be able to service the debt just fine operating Busch "as is," including the parks, otherwise, they are paying too much and the only people making any $ on the deal will be the banks.

I haven't read the original article, but maybe I shouldn't give my opinion, since apparantly Inbev is involved. :tiptoe:

I donn't think Disney will.It would take to much money to retheme it there way..imo

I agree it will give them footholds in VA-Texas etc.But they would probally tear them down to do-it there way..

Orlando would not be the same with just 2 competitors in the marcket...

You got that right! I'm thinking of getting an AP for SW this year with Manta coming in the spring...if Disney buys it...forget it. Heck...they would probably tear down Kraken to make room for kiddie rides.

This would be a match made in heaven IMO. I really hope Disney gets them!

OK, I'll go along if someone can answer :teacher: four questions to my satisfaction:

1. What kind of free beer will Disney be giving out at the hospitality house :drinking1 ? Mickeys?

2. Can Eeyore :eeyore: pull the beer wagon by himself when the Clydesdales retire to St. Louis?

3. Would Goofy :goofy: or Pluto pluto: get to ride the beer wagon, or will poor Eeyore :eeyore: have to pull all 101 Dalmatians?

4. Will it traumatize the children to see Shamu eat Nemo :fish: after every trick?

:dance3:

Yeah I would never forgive Disney if they bought Sea World and took out the best coaster in Florida.

The sole source for the idea that Disney is interested comes from an unsourced mention in the British press that no other news source has been able to confirm. I think they just made it up.

Disney has never purchased someone else's theme park or property. They have always built their own from scratch, even when they were obviously copying the success of others (Pleasure Island/Church Street Station; Disney-MGM/Universal Studios; Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach/Wet 'n Wild & Water Mania). That what makes it Disney and the best in the world at what they do.

Disney isn't about to change now.
