Ok i am not sure where to post this so i will give it a shot here...all of you who have a disney visa ...are there any perks to having one ?? any specials you get...how are they about giving you enough to book your trip etc ?? any info would be great..we are trying to decide if it is worth getting a visa so that we can have the 6 mo to pay it off....

We have the Disney Visa and the only advantage is that you get Disney points good toward purchases at WDW. Other than that there is no advantage that I know of. They only pay you 1% of your purchases in points which really is not that great. you could do better with other cards. Sometimes there is a special to give you extra points. We do it just to have a little extra spending money at WDW, but it probably isn't the best we could do. JMHO Jay

It is probably not the best reward card you can get, but not the worst either. We charge everything we can, and pay the balance each month. We have been using the card for a few months and now have 500 points and will have some more by the time we go in April. This will pay for a lot of our food, sort of our own little dining plan.
In 2004 when we first had the card they had a great discount on rooms and we saved a lot, but there have not been any great room discounts since then. I keep hoping something will come out for April, but don't think so.
In mid March I will change the card we use to an airline card since we will get more points for the money. We will then get points for flights for our next trip

I'm sure there are better cards out there, but if you plan on going to Disney, its a useful card to have. First, as you mentioned, you get 0% APR on a Disney package. Also, as the PP said, you get 1 point for every $100 you spend. Its not a lot, but it adds up, especially if you put all your purchases on it and you pay ot off every month. When you go to Disney, just request a card and transfer the points, and you have "free" money to spend! Even if you just put a $3000 trip on there, that's $30 you have to spend on whatever you want.
They also have other specials from time to time. Right now they have a character meet and greet at Epcot only for Disney Visa people. You get a free 5x7 pic, too.

Right now they are running 24 special discount that on the DV people get .

Now some of them are not the best or cheapest by no means but they are specials .

WDW-4
DL -3
Ent.-4
DCl -2
Mch-14

Now I know thats more then 24 but some are duplicates that are in different cats.

You can also get 10 percent off at the World of Disney in Downtown: I don't remember if you have to spend a fifty dollar minimum or not, but the discount is better than nothing.

thanks guys for all your info....i wasnt sure how the points worked or anything...

In addition to the points (which is like free, spendable cash) they also have special offers from time to time. Last year I got free children's tickets to disney on ice and adult tickets for only $10. So for $30 my family of 5 got to go to the show. Sometimes they have vacations specials too. I once got 7 days at WDW for the price of 4 days.

I am a single mom of 2 and I was able to get enough points to pay for my hopper pass with a coupke dollars left over to us on dinner one night. Right now I have accumulated half of my ticket money for my next trip. They always have some special going to buy something or get additional points. After christmas till I believe Jan 30 if you buy on disneyshopping.com I believe they are doubleing points for example. Check out the website. They also have offers for free picture at DW or a resort or cruise offer. Nothing major just little perks. Sometimes if you book your trip on your Disney card you get extra time to pay it of Good luck.

For the 0% APR for 6 months, you have to book a vacation pacakge (resort + tickets) through Disney Vacation Co (either directly, like calling Central Res or indirectly, like through AAA or another TA). $101 minimum up to a maximum $10,000 and at least a 3 night package.

What do you mean by a free gift card? Was that the promotion for signing up? If so, you'll probably get it in the mail a few weeks after you get the card. The card usually takes 10-14 days to get to you.

Hope this helps :)

ok so if we call disney directly and book say our november vacation we can get it for 0% for 6 mo...it also said that the first 6 mo was 0% apr....

alright perhaps i read wrong..it says for the first 12 mos your apr is 0% if you keep in good standings...does this sound correct to anyone else ??
