Disney Visa

I have it and yes, I like it. It's worth it to me.

I haven't been too impressed. If this was supposed to be the replacement for the DC with respect to offers and savings, it failed.

Disney Visa

Is ok. You do get 1% back in Disney dollars, but it only applies for Disney stuff. If you want cash back, I would try another credit card like Amex Blue or some from Chase for example.

You do get deals once in awhile like discounted Broadway tickets, or Disney Store stuff, a few limited edition prints etc.... The main reason why I got into it was to get into the discounted vacation packages. In December 2003, I booked a package where the kids get free ultimate park hoppers (min. 4 night stay). I went to WDW in April, and in hindsight, and the discount wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I could have been more frugal. Since the Ultimate park hopper was active on my arrival day, I got my room at 1:30 pm, I felt obligated to go to the parks. Next time I will purchase regular park hoppers and spend my first night away from the parks (character meal at resort, campfire, etc....). I really think I can get better opportunities on room prices by reading this website than with Disney Visa.

I am getting a another credit card. My wife loves the Disney Visa, because it's "Disney." Just my 2 cents. Go ahead and try it out. There is no annual fee.

I have one that says "charter member from day 1".

I only wanted it because it says Disney on it which sometimes can cause a conversation when I whip it out.

I don't have one. We looked into it and decided there wasn't enough benefits for us, especially since we won't be going to Disney anytime soon. So we don't need to save up for Disney - we have a Chrysler credit card instead, for my Sebring convertible. :)

For anyone who runs or plans to run a balance: They started me with a 10.9% interest rate. I called and told them if they wanted me to use it, I need to get the lowest fixed rate they had available. They reduced it to 9.9%. So in short, like with most cards, call for the best rates.

We go to WDW at least a couple of times a year, so for us it makes sense because we get the 1% back, they give it to you in a debit card thing, and you can use it at WDW. It usually pays for souvenirs for us!

I have one that says Ottawa Senators...for some reason that alwayys makkes people comment.

We got it for the Disney Reward Dollars (ok and I wanted it simply because it's DISNEY!:teeth:) We use it to pay for everything, and don't carry a balance, so it makes sense for us. We'll definitely use those dollars!! So, we like it. :)

Don't want to burst and bubbles, but I would never get a Disney Visa. I had my Disney Credit Card turned off and that really irritated me. So, I will never have a Disney credit card....so for me it's a waste of time. Sorry to be a party pooper.

I see you get a Debit Card with Disney dollars on it I guess. Can you use that towards Resort fees. Paying for your hotel? Paying for meals anywhere in the park? I just got a credit card from Bank of America and wanted to switch to the Disney. This is my first credit card so I am researching a lot. I go to Disney 2-3 times a year and want to pay all my bills with the card to maximize the 1%.

Right now I am really loving my Disney Visa. I lost my purse (okay I actually know where I left it but apparently it was never turned in) and had to get a new card/account. I made my regular monthly payment soon after (like the next day) and even though it is showing that the payment was made the money is still in my checking account (nearly two weeks later). Maybe it is some kind "reward" for losing my purse, having to cancel two checking accounts, two savings accounts, one credit card, losing $30 cash and two free starbucks coffee cards. :teeth: Yeah I know not likely. They will realize it soon enough and take the money out of my account.

I have always said previously that it didn't seem like a very favorable card to have.....they calculate interest in a way which could makes a consumer pay interest in a month when they had no balance, and that 1% was a paltry amount. While those things are still true, I went ahead and got a card for potential discounts on rooms. I put everything on the card, pay it off immediately, and got points in my very first month. As one of my kids said when I gleefully announced after my first statement that I had 43 Disney Points now, "Gee Mom, that will pay for one snack for me in the park!" So, it isn't going to send us there for free, but when it is giving me even a small amount of money towards vacation that I wouldn't have had otherwise, all the better.

I have one and I pay it off in full every month. I have gotten a good number of points back from them and I know it doesn't match the amount I have spent... not sure where they get their figures from, but I won't complain. They do have some good rates for card holders (check out mousesavers.com) and while I have an AP and won't use them, it is nice to know they are there.

Not as good as the old DC card, but not bad for what I get out of it.

they calculate interest in a way which could makes a consumer pay interest in a month when they had no balance

Could you explain this?

I have a Disney Visa and always pay the entire balance each month. Sometimes I pay several payments during the month, sometimes I just make a single payment by the due date. I can't figure out how they could charge me interest if I pay the entire balance off each month.

They calculate interest on a two billing cycle system. If you carried a balance one month, paid it off in the second month, the third month you will get a bill for the interest of the previous 2 month's balances averaged together. Thus if in a month you paid in full, including the balance and interest charge from the previous month, you would still be charged interest on the month you had no activity or no balance due.

I just went through this with a different VISA but from the same bank.

I was told that if you carried a balance the first month after using the card for the first time, that's the interest your paying when you pay a balance in full and get a bill next month just for interest.

If you've always paid your balance in full from the get go, you should never get hit with interest charges as most bank cards have a 25 (or so) day grace period.

Thanks for the explanations. I really couldn't see how they could charge you interest if you never carry a balance.

I was told that if you carried a balance the first month after using the card for the first time, that's the interest your paying when you pay a balance in full and get a bill next month just for interest.

I've had this happen on other cards when I carried a balance over for a month. It must be a fairly common way of calculating interest charges.

I never carry balances anymore, so I guess I'm in the clear!:D
