What benefits would one receive from having a Disney Visa? I have plenty of plastic already and would only want another one if it were really worth it.

Thanks!

The two things I like about mine are the 6 mos SAC terms on paying for a WDW vacation package, and the rewards points I earn to use for buying things while on my trip. My DH feels we can do better than the 1% we get back in Disney rewards points, but, I am hooked.

You can decide for yourself if those things are worthwhile.

The benefits I like from the Disney Visa are the 6 months of financing on a Disney vacation package for free. So that means you can charge your vacation and take up to 6 months to pay it off without paying any interest charges. That is the biggest benefit to me so I can pay off the vacation in payments over a few months.

The other benefits include some park benefits - a free character photo (restrictions apply), 10% off World of Disney purchase over $50 (totally worth it!!! I always spend a lot at this store), & some other discounts on tours and such. There are also periodic Disney Visa offers - vacation discounts, Disney show discounts, special pins, & other 'offers'. I've never taken advantage of these, but some of them are pretty good. They also offer 15% discount at Disney online store.

The other benefit are the Disney reward dollars. It is 1% back on your purchases. I have a Discover card and I like that because you can use the cash or use it at multiple retailers where as the Disney rewards are ONLY for Disney stores or parks. Of course, the disney rewards are pretty nice especially when you put the vacation on the card and get that 1% along with anything else you charge. I usually end up with a couple hundred dollars on a gift card to spend while I am on vacation and that is really nice. It is very easy to use at WDW - resorts, dining, shopping, etc.

Hope that helps!

Also, at times there are 5 times rewards offers out there as well. I currently have one for Oct, Nov and Dec. I get the bonus 4 % (some have a $100 limit on the bonus dollars, some a $200 limit) on ALL my purchases over 250 each month. This bonus is not offered to everyone and everyone doesn't get it at all times either. We got it 3 quarters last year and this is the first time this year (and the best offer) It's great especially this time of year. Some cardholders have specific categories to have their purchases in (like grocery, gas, dining and airfare, the most common that I've heard of) The threshold amounts are different as well. Some have no threshold ranging to up to 1,000 that I've heard of. There are discounts on some of the behind the scenes tours at WDW as well. All benefits are on the website for Disney Visa so you should check it out.

I agree with this poster's comments on what they like about having the disney visa! :thumbsup2n

I also like the discount they offer first to d.visa card holders! I was able to use the newest offer for my Jan 2nd trip, it was a little bit better than the 4/3 deal I had! I think I'd feel a bit jealous of card holders if I couldn't choose to use whatever deal was out at the time for my trip, lol! :goodvibes

And, I like the rewards I've built up of $580 dollars that I can use on my next trip, use 'em all or save some for my next trip, whatever I want! I like that! :cool1:

Btw, one thing I did miss, how do I get the 15% discount when using my D.V. at the online Disney store? I never end up with any discount even though I use my d.v. card. I must be missing something. :confused3

Another Btw! I like the idea of the 5x rewards but it sure didn't work out for me this time around. I got the offer but, I had to spend over $1000 in only four categories, grocery, gas, dining and airfare, before the rewards would start to accumulate. There's no way for me to spend that much with only the two of us here for groceries and gas. So, that part of the card can be disappointing but maybe next time I'll get one of the better offers.

I do think getting the D.V. has many advantages so since I need a credit card, this is definitely my card of choice! And, I think it's so cool having a Disney credit card with Mickey and friends on it, lol!

We currently have 275.00 in Disney dollars & expect to have over 500 by June, which is a vacation in the works!! I use my Disney Visa for groceries, gas, eating out, & shopping. Love that free money for vacation!!:thumbsup2

Were you lucky enough to get the current 5 times offer? We were and I've earned so far this month an extra $84 in Disney Dollars. We had to make a few large purchases and I had no categories and a low threshold amont of $250!! I'm hoping on earning the extra $200 that you can with my offer!! Aren't the Disney Dollars fun to earn!! (and spend-free money if you do it right by paying in full each month!)

Actually, I just heard of this recently! Do these offers come in the mail or by email? We usually have around 2000/month on our card, so that's roughly 20/month I'm making. I'm counting on some large purchases in Dec. & Jan. for extra though!! Plus if we book the package, I'll put in on the card ofcourse! We will LOVE shopping at World of Disney with all that!! Oh yeah, we definitely pay it off each month, I loathe credit card debt!!

I actually called because I knew there was an offer out there and yes, I was included this time! They gave me my pin number to enter when calling and I am enrolled. I did receive the offer by regular mail the next day!! They said they were mailed Sept 10 but it took alomst 3 weeks!! I did, on Oct 1, receive the offer in my email as well. All offers are similar but different, some have categories you have to spend in and meet a threshold amount each month in order to get the bonus (range from Zero amount to up to 1,000 and that's each month before the bonus 4%) We were lucky to get a low threshold and NO categories! The only reason I say about paying in full is that that's how the Credit Card companies get you!! They have you charge up a lot to get a bonus but some can't or don't pay it off and then they earn big interest fees!! I actually, when we have an offer, send in or make a pmt as I spent. It just makes me nervous having a big balance even if I know I will pay off when I receive the bill!

If you didn't get the offer by mail or accidently missed it (it's a large postcard type mailing) call and a customer service person can tell you if you have it available to you. All you have to do is sign up by the last day of the offer( Dec 31 for this one) and get the bonus, if you earned one for the entire quarter!

Thanks! I just called and checked and was able to enroll. I think I have a $100 bonus limit, but I'll take it! Thanks again.

That's a good deal. Did they tell you if you had categories or a threshold amount. I try to keep track of my charges to make sure that I receive the correct bonus! The regular Disney Dollars will be earned as regular and posted on your stmt date. The bonus portion will be earned during an ACTUAL month, not the stmt month. The bonus portion, for me has always posted on the subsequent stmt. I do have a late cutoff so they have time to compute ! My daughter's stmt cycle is the 3 rd of the month and she had to wait for 2 stmt cycles to get the bonus portion. The flyer says 6-8 weeks though. THey did tell you your PIN (I'm just calling it that it's a number to sign up with) and you do have to call it in or sign up online. I'm glad you called!!! You are quite welcome!

You're welcome!! Yes, last year I didn't receive the mailing at all but called and I was included! When I called about the current Oct-Dec offer I did ask if I was included in the July- Sept offer and I wasn't; wish I was since I did put a large purchase (that could have waited) in Sept, but at least I'm in the current one! Good Luck!

No luck, but the rep did say that I should keep my eye out for one next month in the form of a postcard! I will have to watch my junk mail more closely than I used to!! I have a habit of not reading all the junk, looks like that might have to change!:rolleyes1

Yes, keep your eye out. Good luck next time!! I know there is a timeframe that you must have the card before an offer is made. I think at least 6 months. I don't know if that has to do with you but just to say for others.

:surfweb:there at two benifits that we love, 1st, the 6 months 0% interest on the vacation if paid with the card and most of all the Disney rewards program.
:banana:We use our disney visa for all our everyday purchases, gas, groceries etc and in a year have over 400$ in reward $ earned. We have done this in the past, never earned this much, and paid for all our breakfasts at the resorts, all our souvies and assorted other stuff at the parks, it was great. This time around, I may use some of the $ to offset some of the cost of the trip, or upgrade the trip is some way.

:wizard:Since we are using the card for everyday expenses which we would otherwise use cash for, we do not carry a balance on the card and thus these reward $ are really FREE:woohoo:

I currently have over $300 rewards earned. I also enrolled in the 5X rewards for purchases over $500.00 thru Dec. I have a trip planned in January. I have two questions:

1. Will they actually apply these rewards before my trip? I use this credit card more like a debit card. I pay EVERYTHING with it!!! Then I pay the balance off every month.

2. What should I use my rewards for? To pay off my trip, To buy Cirque La Noumba tickets, To pay for extras charged to my room, or for shopping at DTD. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!
