I just got a postcard in which it states that new members buying 160 points and current members who buy 50 or more points would be eligible for at least a $900 American Airlines Credit.

I called my guide but haven't gotten an answer yet. The smallest amount an existing member can buy is $6000. The smallest amount a new member can buy is $19,200.

I'm betting they made a mistake. Why would DVC give out $900-- in an American Airlines Gift card-- to members adding on only 50 points?

Since AKV and SSR cost less, you would need to buy 54 points @ $112 =$6048 -$900 AA incentive = $5148/54 =$95 a point.

For BLT the cost per point would be $120 per point x 50 points =$6000
$6000-$900 AA incentive= $5100/50=$102 per point.

*If you were to buy with the current advertised incentive of -$8 a point for SSR or AKL the cost per point would only be $112 - $8 = $104 per point

*If you were to buy BLT with the current advertised incentive of $6 then the cost per point would be $120-$6 =$112 a point.

Extrapolating even further if you buy with the AA gift card incentive you will save $516 on the best incentive offered today for AKL or SSR PLUS you would get 4 points more per year @ 112 a point = $448 giving you a savings of $448 + $516 = $964

and if you buy with the AA gift card incentive you will save $516 over the best incentive offered today for BLT.

This was posted a few weeks back and I believe that someone said that add ons of 50 points do not qualify for the entire $900.

We were considering it until we saw that. I think that is is something like $300 card--no different than the straight discount.

If you hear differently, please post as we may look in to it again...although we have a June UY and will no longer get 2009 points so we are really in no rush any longer.

This incentive is only for the actively selling resorts (SSR, AKV, BLT, VGC) correct?

We got the postcard too but I didn't see anywhere on there where it mentioned specific resorts.

We are in the process of a 100 pt. HHI add-on and I just assumed it didn't apply to us.

I added on 50 points at AKV using this promotion. For 50-99 points, the gift card is only $300. You also receive a $5 per point reduction off the list price of $112. The gift card has a value of $6 per point so the "net" price is $101. Existing members need to add 150+ points to receive the $900.
